Marmaduke: The verification of de-evolution

Honestly the trailers have made me give up on:

Anything Owen Wilson will ever do

Films from now till forever

I guess I should have seen some shit like this coming when Beverly Hills Chihuahua came out, but I ignored it, and forgot about it. I could have also seen it coming when Jackie Chan destroyed my opinion of him when he made Spy Next Door.

Would a kid even watch Marmaduke? Would you even want kids to watch Marmaduke? Tell me what you think. Keep me from going insane and going on a rampage.

The past few years and increasingly crappier movies have turned me into a young yet more critical Roger Ebert. These movies are getting so crappy that a movie like George Of The Jungle will be oscar worthy by the next year or two.

I wouldn't be bitching about it if it was the only shitty trailer I have seen lately. I fear the future of cinema, even indie films are turning into bowls of carp. '

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

The one they have on TV has a fart joke.

Lets take a single panel comic that has no characters to speak of but a great dane who does increasingly more and more human-like things as the years progress. Lets make him talk, make him sound like Owen Wilson, and have him be a fish out of water, who gets in trouble at his new school but eventually leads a revolt against the bullies and everyone has a dance scene.

Sounds like a winner to me!

It was neat when they did it in the Dr. Doolittle remake, but that shit was 14 friggin years ago.

Dude, it is a kids movie. It'll be okay. You can breathe. Rest assured, kids movies have always been pretty goofy and over the top, nothing new here. Not sure why you find this film so particularly offensive and single it out as verification of the de-evolution of film.

He said kids like that kind of shit, and they do. You're not a little kid (at least, I alwats assumed you were not), fortunately you are not this films target audience.

Marmaduke raped my poodle. :(

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

"Yeah, well, George says a lot of things..." a young 1997 xhonzi on RASSM

"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.

Now that I could believe.

Anyway, I agree with CP3S.  It's a bit over the edge to say that Marmaduke and similar movies are the end of cinema civilization as we know it.  However, I give ESF full credit for using "carp" correctly in the last sentence of his OP.

Also, are we ever going to get an explanation for all of the GKS last week?

"Theodore Rex" came out in 1996. We survived that.

I think it is the end of Owen Wilson's career as we know it.

On the plus side, M. is a Great Dane, a breed I like.
