Anyone one out there have this ripped to a DVD. I’ve looked high and low and all i can find is a AVI rip of a PAL version. I can’t wait for the release of the restores version. But would love to see the colorized verion also.
Thanks to anyone who can help.
Would also like to get a hold of a transfered version on DVD of the Criterion Version (b/W). If anyone has this.

Dark Jedi may be able to help you out there.

You can hunt down one of the two lousy Brazilian bootlegs, transferred from VHS, or wait two months for the pointless Kongbox:

(It is pointless compared to the R1 version, as the only interesting curiosity on it will be the fourth disc, with the colorized version)

I like a copy of both the dark jedi transfer of the black and white criterion and the colorized version.

I will be buying the official box set release the limited edition remastered.

Plus I'm also going to get Harryhausen's mighty joe young.

There is Filmaking diaries by Peter Jackson on the making of the new kong preorder on amazon.com.

I'd Like to also get the original cut of the first Godzilla film, not the butchered americanized version.

What's the story on this set? I'd want to get all the films included, but it seems to be missing "Son of Kong"? And what about "Son of Kong" in color? I know it exists, it was broadcast on TNT. but are there any copies of it out there?

“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

I have it, I'm actually making a DVD-R of it. It is the laserdisc rip of the colorized version.

I'd really love to get the NTSC conversion of this when you're through.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Why not just release the better PAL version?

Did they transfer it from VHS, by the way, the way the Brazilian ones were, or does this new release have a decent look?

the PAL version is OK but not great, hell the 1933 King Kong US box set that was released a few weeks ago doesnt look great either,i mean we cant expect it to look like todays standards, the video was shot over 70 years ago.
but they are both very watchable
hope this helps

It's up on PB now , It just started seeding. Not sure if it is the LD transfer or the VHS transfer but it is the colorized one.

Why would anyone want the colorized version?

The restored 4K-sourced version used for Warner's new DVD is just stunning. The old colorization was performed at NTSC resolution and has very poor image quality. Compared to the very high-quality colorizations by Legend Films (Carnival of Souls, Plan 9 From Outer Space, Night of the Living Dead, Reefer Madness, etc), it's even worse.

Well, the ones who want it seem to want it for the nostalgia. They remember seeing it colorized as a kid, so they want to hold on to that.
