I heard about it, but I'm sure it will suck. I think I heard somewhere that Ashton Kutcher will be Ash. Now all the younger generation (a.k.a. my generation) will forget about the old one and always refer to the NEW one. I hate it when that happens. Just like no one else my age has ever heard of the original "House of Wax with Vincent Price.

I was combing through the $1 DVD bin at Wal-mart a few hours ago, and amidst all the crappy bootleg-looking movies, I was shocked and amazed at what I came across: the George A. Romero classic, Night of the Living Dead. What on Earth was THIS doing in the $1 bin?!

There are about a million DVD editions of this film and some of them are old releases with pretty bad transfers.

The one I got (the $1) doesn't have the best transfer in the world, not much better than a VHS, but seeing as how that's about how the original prints of NOTLD were, I think I like it better that way.

The original prints of Night of the Living Dead were shot on 35mm and looked very nice. If you don't already, go out and buy the Elite Entertainment version of Night. It's the best transfer you can find of this movie to date.

As for the multiple releases of this movie, it's because the movie was released without a copyright. Someone messed up and now it's a public domain movie. You could put out your own DVD of it if you so felt the need. George A. Romero has never made a dime off of that movie.

That's the Mackey fun fact of the day.

Cemetary Man is great fun, along the lines of Evil Dead II & Dead-Alive (aka Brain Dead)

Audition was a pleasantly disturbing

Anyone in the mood for bad movie fun should check out The Erotic Nights of the Living Dead

And also, my favorite vampire series: SUBSPECIES I - IV

i own this transfer. it's great. plus the red case is pretty spiffy, too. it was on one of the encore movie channels a few days back and I happened to catch it. no comparison. red case NOTLD takes the cake, bar none. plus the commentary's interesting.

however, my fave dead movie has to be Day. I can't explain it. I think its because it is the underdog of the dead saga.
