As far as Luke selecting a different planet for a new Jedi Temple, I would think that if were to rebuild it, I would rebuild it away from politics and go back to its pre-Old Republic roots. They can still be Defenders of the New Republic, just train and live away from most society. This also helps in resisting temptations, although the New Jedi Order is much more lenient as far as that goes.

hmmm really adam, i donno the only place i encounter stuff about the old jedi temple was in the NJO books behind enemy lines 1 and 2, and traitor. and from those books i go the impression that the everything except the foundations was destroyed.
