James bond is awesome — Page 4

Yeah, I guess so. But for Eon to say "Quentin Tarantino is directing the next Bond flick" and not have purists revolt is highly unlikely regardless of how true to the source material Tarantino intends to be. Just the name Tarantino elicits some funky thoughts in peoples' heads.

Fair enough, although it wouldn't be the first time Eon has used a well-known director in an effort to spruce up the franchise.

Michael Apted, for The World is Not Enough; also Lee Tamahori, for Die Another Day.

Check him out on IMDb. He's managed to mix a career of both documentaries and feature films, including Gorillas in the Mist, Blink and Nell.

Well, according to IMDb, Brosnan is a big supporter of the idea...
Quote

Pierce Brosnan is offering his support to Quentin Tarantino as the Pulp Fiction director bids to take over the James Bond franchise. Tarantino is an unlikely favorite to take charge of the next Bond film after making his love of 007 known to the series's producers. And, after meeting with the maverick director, Brosnan insists Tarantino would be a perfect choice to direct Casino Royale, which was filmed as an unofficial Bond spoof starring David Niven in 1967. He says, "Quentin and I met and he is a huge Bond fan. He wants to remake Casino Royale. I don't know if it's ever going to happen. What Tarantino would bring to the film is life, and just a great sense of excitement and danger, and the perspective of a film-maker who has really made people sit up and watch his movies. He's got a cutting edge, which we got with the last Bond film, Die Another Day - with Lee Tamahori's sense of flair. Someone like Quentin would be magnificent."

i think it would be cool. QT could very well put bond back in a 60's 70's style movie.

I've always thought that every Bond movie should've been set in the mid-60s. I mean, makes no sense to have a Bond in the 21st century, a Bond in the 60s, and they're both the same person... Besides, Bond dosen't belong in today's world, he is - like M once said - a reliq from the Cold War.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

and thats why they are adapting him to the 21st century...

Pretty soon, Bond will be the first British Secret Agent to have lived through 6 decades and still be an active agent. That's a helluva feat.

Thurman to Be a Bond Girl?
Hollywood movie-maker Quentin Tarantino is set to cast his muse Uma Thurman as a Bond girl if he lands the next 007 director role. The Kill Bill director is desperate to helm the 21st James Bond film - a remake of Ian Fleming's original story Casino Royale - and is keen to keep Irish heart-throb Pierce Brosnan on for one more spy outing. A source told British tabloid Daily Star, "Quentin wants Pierce as his Bond and Uma as a Bond girl. The thing is that Uma doesn't like the idea of being just another girl for Bond, so she's said she'll only ever do it if she gets to kick 007's a*s."
