I realized you weren't arguing to make black man Bond, just to be politically correct.   I was thinking that maybe I was being politically incorrect.

I get it now. And I understand that you're one of those guys who thinks movies should adhere to source material. Agree to disagree.

not exactly.   I don't they have to stick strictly to the Books,  if I thought that, I'd have to hate just about every Bond movie ever made.   To me, I see four distinct James Bonds.   One is the book Bond, exactly what Ion Flemming wrote.  The 2nd is the classic Movie Bond(Bond from the movies from Dr. No to The Living Daylights).  The third is the crap we from License To Kill to Die Another Day(the decent Bond movie from that era was Tomorrow Never Dies).  The 4th is the reboot with Daniel Craig.   It is the 2nd I prefer,  the classic movie James Bond.    That is what I wish they would go back to.

^Warb's a Bond purist. He's still mad that M is played by Judi Dench.

yep.  Especially since this is supposedly a reboot.   If this is supposed to Bond at the beginning of his career,  why not have the original M?   I am also pissed they did away with the traditional Bond opening scene, and that the in Casino Royal when Bond was asked whether he wanted his martini shaken or stirred he said "do I look like I give a crap?"  I mean were they intentionally trying to piss off the original Bond fans?

I mean, making it more like the books wasn't really the point of the reboot. They wanted to create a Bond for the modern age. It's a new take on Bond. When Bond is stressed, and the bartender asks if he wants his martini shaken or stirred, he really doesn't care. I understand if you don't like this angle, but it's most certainly not supposed to annoy original Bond fans. It's a different twist on the character.

well I don't know how it is isn't supposed annoy classic Bond fans.   Bond does give a crap, he likes his martinis shaken not stirred, stressed or not.

I wish for friggin once, they would make a bond movie that is actually like the source. I want to hulk out and smash douchebags that try to say Craig is the closest to the books.

Connery at least made up for it with sheer style.

A black Bond?

"EYE AM A SCOTTISH PEASANT AND EYE WILL ALWAYS FEEL AT HOME BEING A SCOTTISH PEASANT."

The closest the films came to Fleming was OHMSS. The closest balance between film and books was Terrence Young on DN and FRWL. The Bonds closest to Fleming are Lazenby and Dalton because they were human and could bleed. However, Dalton may take this crown because he seems to be the only one who can truly suffer.

I have always wondered what the story for the aborted screenplay of the third Dalton film was about and what kind of film it would have been.

As interested as i would have been to see a Brosnan version of Living Daylights.

I would have liked more quality Dalton and Brosnan pictures but it seems like the newest bond actors make the fewest films.  I would be very surprised if Craig does 4.

Since Skyfall returns to the classic film Bond formula i have not been more excited over a Bond picture since Goldeneye.

But not sure that counts cause it could turn out to be a turkey coming from the screenwriter of star trek nemesis.

The previews make it seem like a Brosnan Bond film only meaner and tailored to Craig with no smart one liners.

Does anyone know how to turn off the credit text on the Bond DVDs?  I saw this video on YouTube of the main title from "Moonraker", and all the credit text has been removed.  The person who made the video posted in the comments section that the text can be turned off on the DVDs, but did not say how this is done.

Can anyone help?

Here is a link to the Moonraker video:

It was an extra feature on the UE DVDs that was removed when they made the jump to HD. Search me why they decided to cut it.

They included textless title sequences as a separate video on the supplemental UE discs, there was no "turning off" the title text.

Thanks guys.  Seems that I am out of luck then, as I did not go in for the UE sets due to the questionable restoration work.

Maybe not. They have been popping up as singles (with extras disc) at the Big Lots stores in the past year or so. Worth a look if there's a store near you.

I heard they weren't on the blu-rays. I certainly didn't see it anywhere in the options for L&LD or FYEO.

Yeah, people over at the HTF have been unhappy about them being dropped.

I hope the disc's main menu plays music from Home Alone.

This is the best summary of what Tim's third film would have been like: http://www.mi6-hq.com/sections/movies/bond17.php3?t=&s=articles&id=01930

That made me think. This video here may just be the best look at what it might have been like if George Lazenby would have returned as James Bond under Guy Hamilton's style of direction in "Diamonds are Forever".

What do you get when you morph all the Bonds?

Looks a bit like Richard Burton to me.

So, what if a CGI generated actor could replace Craig after his contract is up?

They could just use your composite James Bond as the template.

John Barry was such an amazing composer. Don't know if I'd like the movies as much without John Barry.

His work on the 60's bond movies is nothing short of genius. You Only Live Twice and On Her Majesty's Secret service has some of what I would call the most beautiful music written for film.

Then the wild sexy brass of Goldfinger and Thunderball rivals most big band tracks.

Top it off with the power of From Russia With Love, you have just an all around amazing composer.

What about the moving groundbreaking Bill Conti FYEO score? ;)

Agreed, Barry is probably the underdog of the great film score composers. Even when the film was crap, he could make something out of it completely unexpected and fascinating.

Of the non-Barry scores, the best IMO is George Martin's LALD.

I really did like George Martin's work. To be honest, the only ones I don't like are the later scores like Eric Serra. People will shoot me for saying David Arnold, but I just don't like it. It hints at Bond, but ultimately feels like Bourne.
