That sounds familiar, but I looked her up on google image and she doesn’t have braces.

I know! This is very very strange. My good friend and I remember, clearly remember, that she had braces, but when I saw the DVD, she does not. Did they change it at some point, or are a number of us fans having a shared “False Memory”?

I was actually about to type that she did have braces, because I was confident in my memory of that being the case, but then I looked it up just to be sure and her images online show no braces. Very strange. Maybe I just assumed because she has the general dorky look in every other aspect of her appearance.

Just scanned through this for the first time in a while and I’m astonished to see that people are ranking the Daniel Craig films at the bottom. Even if you’re not a fan of Craig, I can’t get my head around anyone placing all of Brosnan’s movies ahead of Casino Royale with a straight face.

I don’t know if I remember braces but when you mentioned them it sounded right.

I agree.

Anyway, in case anyone wants to know where I stand:

THE GOOD:
From Russia With Love
Goldfinger
You Only Live Twice
On Her Majesty’s Secret Service
Live and Let Die
The Spy Who Loved Me
The Living Daylights
Casino Royale
Skyfall

THE BAD:
The Man With The Golden Gun
Die Another Day
Quantum of Solace

THE MEH:
Thunderball
Diamonds Are Forever
Spectre

These are the ones I’ve seen recently enough to feel comfortable evaluating. Most of them were on Amazon and/or Xfinity a while back and I was trying to get through them all, but I only got halfway through the Moore era. Hoping to finish sometime soonish.

Eh. The more I think about it, the less I remember braces.

It’s not like they disappeared or something. Mandela Effect people are really, really weird.

The Mandela Effect presumes that people always remember things 100% accurately. But they don’t, people misremember things, or don’t notice things all the time. You’re transcribing information into meat, essentially, it’s a very malleable process, and things get messed up. With the Bernst(e)[a]in bears thing, I do remember it as stein, but that’s probably because stein is a very common suffix in surnames, I didn’t read the title closely, and the font is strange. Alternate universes aren’t needed to explain stuff like that. That said, I still think the phenomenon is very interesting.

Edit: Just watched the video, that is pretty strange, but it’s not proof of an alternate universe.

Exactly. To me it’s a ridiculous notion on par with superstition.

People are so wrapped up in ego that they’d rather create an alternate universe where they’re correct than accept the possibility that they misremembered something.

I seem to remember braces even on the blu ray. I think that she just looked so dorky that I assumed she had them. I would bet all the money in the world that the braces were not digitally removed.

Well the fact that it is a shared false memory by so many Bond fans is very interesting to me. I’m staying on the fence with this one. I also seem to remember discussions here on this forum a number of years ago about people having a shared memory of having seen what is now missing footage and dialogue from “Jaws”. The missing footage in question took place during Chrissie’s autopsy scene.

A lot of people also remember Donovan saying, “Some artifacts donated by the finest Jewish families in all of Germany” in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, but the word “Jewish” is of course not on any home video release, and apparently not on the original film either. I didn’t see that in theatres so I can’t vouch for it.

Interesting! So something may be strongly implied, and people are filling in the blank that becomes a false memory. I’ll buy that.

He’d better keep his word about getting Colbert a small part in the movie. 😉

If it’s truly his last outing as 007, I hope Craig goes out on a high note.

And I really need to see Spectre one of these days.

Spectre was severely underrated, but I am really glad he’ll get a proper send off (part of that movie’s problem was it ultimately seemed caught between trying to set up the next film while also being his potentially last film - and so both of those obviously opposing elements suffered). Craig’s probably my favorite besides Connery so he deserves something great.

No one ever has any love for Dalton…

Glad to hear Craig’s coming back one more time, though. Here’s hoping Waltz comes back and they can manage to salvage his character.

There’s plenty of love for Dalton around here. Haven’t you seen the thread for a TLD 35mm preservation project?

I have not, that’s awesome! Been gone for a while, and when I did visit I mainly lurked in the SW edits and preservations forums before I finally figured out which email address my account used. I’ll check it out!

I thought Spectre was pretty good. I loved the action, most of the humor, and the performances, but the screenplay was pretty bad. It was no Skyfall, though.

On another note, I want to watch a Bond film tonight. Any suggestions?

I’ll watch the first one that is suggested to me so long as it isn’t one of the weird Casino Royales or Never Say Never Again.

Live and Let Die
Sure, it’s like a Blaxploitation film 007 happens to be in, (and that Sheriff Pepper is the Jar Jar Binks of the franchise) but Roger Moore makes Bond his own and the theme song is one of the best. And Baron Samedi still creeps me out.
