Thanks! 120p it is!
Using After Effects takes ages to load in the DNGs and to render out to a video file compared to … it seems like maybe PP just assumes TIFFs are sRGB and doesn’t look at TIFF metadata … Anyway, I’ll see.
I have the best solution advice for all this that you’ve ever heard. You are dealing with all kinds of big digital picture things it seems. Well, I recommend you:
and finally, erase every other frame and set the frame rate to 12 frames per second.
All these steps will make the file thingies much easier to wrangle, will save you 8% hard drive space, etc., yay! 😃
Big j/k of course. Your work/efforts here are over my head in a number of ways (I’ve never had/come across a DNG file in my life). Thanks for sharing your trials and tribulations, 'tis interesting and informative! May these bumps all smooth out…without you having to do the steps I suggested above 😃
LightWave = fun times with gfx for me 😃

Will you be doing things like colour correction and repairing any scratches or print damage etc?

Spent much of the last year working out color calibration for the scanner used. Color accuracy to the original 35mm projected look is one of the main goals of my feature and trailer projects. These will likely be the most color accurate scans out there. Every last thing will not be perfect due to tricky issues with the scanner output, but I bet they will be the most color accurate scans yet done all the same. A lot of scans online are not really very close to the actual 35mm colors. A few are vague ballpark and look fine from memory although directly compared lots of differences would show all over and many (I’d say most as soon as you get past the most recent scans) are just way different looking than the actual 35mm colors. (of course some scans are also from magenta/red faded prints and in those cases there often is no real reference so they are what they are and that is a different matter than the talk of scans of non-faded prints which is the topic here)
and
“Scans will be at 6.5K. Grading will be matched side by side display with selected frames from the various reels viewed under theatrical projection-like high CRI LED D56 lightbox conditions to hopefully get it to be extremely true in color tone, saturation and tonal curve to the 35mm print.”
the very thin but deep green vertical emulsion scratch on some parts of some reels will be patched over
not really messing with any cleanup to start, perhaps eventually, the frames are seeming pretty clean though and I’m not sure there is any print damage at all anywhere beyond that vertical green emulsion scratch on some parts of some reels (look at the samples, none had any cleaning/patching done to them whatsoever, they are all 100% untouched, nothing but alpha or beta color correction/trace of sharpening in some sets of images/rescaling to 2160 height/cropping the scan to the image area), but if any really nasty blobs of dust/dirt show up I might eventually patch over the worst of it or if some major print damage shows (but I’m pretty sure the print is 100% damage free through and through, again beyond that thin green emulsion scratch running down near the right side of sections of some reels)

been super busy but getting nearer to the stage where the slow rendering out of tens of thousands of final frames can begin

Yes, just sent PM.
Hi! I’d love to donate as well, if they’re still being accepted. Loving the progress so far!
Gentleman,
I cannot thank you all enough for your dedication and hard work. Scanning, transfers, storage, cleaning, scaling, etc. is time-consuming at the very least and as someone with no ability to do so, but has an understanding of the scope of work, I appreciate everything you all are doing. I have been a JP diehard since I was four years old and saw it for the first time release year. I refused to go to sleep because a raptor would find its way into the house and eat us all. I pee’d the bed several times. Besides Alien, no film has had an impact on my life, my friends, or my family like Jurassic Park. I still have a sealed copy of the VHS I got for my birthday when I was five. Now as a man-child, that love continues. I built my 95’ Wrangler into a replica JP jeep and I’m part of a worldwide group of fellow JP enthusiasts that do the same. I want my children to experience Jurassic Park this way, and from what I’ve seen from the various 35mm sources it hits the nail on the head without question.
I’m truly grateful to have found this project and wish to help/donate in any way that I can. I have shown what I can on Reddit posts and YouTube to fellow JP friends and they all show interest in the project as well. I’ve been trying to acquire the v1 Superwide Open Matte to show friends and family for a good long while but I’m stuck at 49%. If anyone has any pointers it would be much appreciated.
Again, thank you truly for bringing such a project to light. There are so many of us that want to thank you all for everything.
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and wish you and your families all the very best.
Hope everyone is well. Glad to see the project progressing well.
I found what looks like your project/ the same one on another forum, MonkeyLizard10 and am confused. Is it the same project?

Thanks.
It is also on Discord and the FR website too. I’m guessing you just also saw the same project as here on FR.
There is also a different project that has nothing to do with mine here and on Discord (maybe elsewhere?) as well though.

Ah, cool, cool. Are you still rendering? Did you finish the non-beta 1.0 version?
Happy holidays!

Sent ya a PM. Would like to pitch in.
I’d like to contribute. Can you PM me please?
I’ve also got a question about if this scan has any extended scenes from the Blu-Ray? I saw JP in a cinema in Darwin Australia and I have memories of 2 extended scenes
1 - Ellie reaches out and grabs the leaf while in the jeep
2 - in the control room escape scene, the raptor pops it head through the roof and looks around. It then cuts into them scrambling and Lex’s panel getting lifted by the raptor.

not sure, haven’t checked for that, probably not, doesn’t ring a bell and I’ve not heard of the 35mm version having missing scenes

I just setup a private discussion for all of the donors. If anyone who donated did not receive the message, please PM me.
The first actual video sample has been uploaded.
It is 4k wide gamut SDR in HDR wrapper for better compatibility highbitrate HEVC demo with no audio. It does not use the final calibration (although it is at least in the ballpark) and is just a quick test. It has no audio. It is (a non-super wide) open matte sample for a couple minutes or so in the middle or Reel 3.
