After going thru all the pages of both this thread and the "Imperial audiophile" thread, let me just start by saying to ABC : Thank You!

Its people like you and Adywan that have kept the fire around a certain film franchise burning while the people who are in charge seem to keep wanting to just pour water on it.

I've been a lurker here on and off for a few years. I've run across many threads of people with passion for a certain project, (i'm still awaiting a certain fan edit of Ep III).  It reminds me of a paraphrase of something GL said some time in the past. Something along the lines of he was making Star Wars because it was the kind of movie he wanted to see, and if it did well then more people would make films like it so He could enjoy those films.

As can be witnessed with the fan edit explosion, one person's passion can very easily fuel another's.

So for all of us that just mainly sit on the sidelines, I'm offering my thanks. Your hard work is appreciated & applauded.

Would I like to be able to listen to this outstanding project?

Take it from a kid on vacation in Houston the summer of 1980 that pleaded with his parents to take him to see Empire, waiting in line to get the far right seats on the front row. I still remember what the sky looked like that evening walking out of the theater....looked like Bespin.

That's a yes, if someone is feeling generous.

I'm about halfway through the first set, and I just had to take a second to say what an incredible experience this is. It's late, so I'm doing this first listen on headphones, but good ones -- Sennheiser HD595 through a Total Bithead headphone amp -- and the word of the day is "lush". Tomorrow, I'll play the RSO reconstruction on my Ascend Acoustics Sierra-1 reference monitors and shake the walls proper. I have a feeling the neighbors will feel like the Star Wars galaxy ain't so far, far away anymore. ;-)

Thanks ABC!

 (Edited)

Hello,

I've stumbled across this post and have had a great time reading it through. A little lengthy at times, but it sure shows the dedication that has gone into the work of perfecting this release.

At some (early) point I got the impression that ABC was a little dissapointed at the lack of enthusiasm and feedback. I am very sorry to read. Maybe the following posts and the superior runtime of this thread has proven him that there are many of us out there, who do really appreciate his work.

scruffman67 has put it nicely, in much better words that I could ever do in this foreign language:

So for all of us that just mainly sit on the sidelines, I'm offering my thanks. Your hard work is appreciated & applauded.

Has there been, or is there going to be, something like this release for the original Star Wars soundtrack?

A quick question about this release in case anyone knows the answer...

Disc 3, the 'original album restored and completed', runs to 20 tracks at a length of 78'41"... the original double album totalled 17 tracks at 74'34".

Can anyone point me to ABC's explanation of these changes? I just wondered in what sense the album had been 'completed' by the addition of ~4 mins of material (and redefining/resequencing the tracks). Personal preference or something more precise?
