*sigh* ... the only net around when I was 13 was a fishing net.

But that alone provided me the tools to cut down the tallest tree in the forest with ... a herring. So Nyah!!! Or should I say: Nee!!! Nee!!! Nee!!!

All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. Yes, it may be spelled "Monty Python sucks" but it's pronounced "Throatwobbler Mangrove".

First thou take the holy pin, then thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shall count, and the number thou shall count is three. Thou shall not count to four, and shall not count to two, apart for the one preceding the three. Five is right out. Once three is the third number counted, thou shall throw your hand grenade at your enemy, who, being evil by My sight, shall snuff it.

I think Monty Python is great. I love Life of Brian and it's one of the greatest films ever made. Brilliant

Holy crap! I remember owning that issue, and never made the Python connection. It was the year before my local PBS station started airing the show.

IIRC, Barbara and Dick finally discovered their respective secret identities in that tale. Continuity being fluid in those days, I doubt that plot point affected any of the other Bat books. ;)

I always liked Cardinal Biggles stuttering his way through trying to get the words out:  "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition; in fact, those who do expect . . . er, our chief weapon is, um . . . surprise, and, uh . . ."

And I always lol at the part in the album version where they come into the Architect sketch and try to get by with a shorter version:

"Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.  Our chief weapon is surprise—that's all.  Just surprise."

"What about fear?"

"Oh, yes yes all right, surprise and fear."

"And fanatical—"

"SHUT UP!"

the Architect sketch is brilliant, with John Cleese's abattoir and his following tirade. The words "philistine pig ignorance" and "squeezing blackheads" will always resound in my head.

I was more of a fan of the next line...

"Not caring a tinker's cuss for the struggling artiste, you excrement!"

Wonderfully childish yet brilliantly clever.

Because of Python, it was hard to take the monotonous public access talk shows I had to slave on back in college very seriously.

How I longed for something silly to happen, or a large weight to drop from the studio ceiling.
