Is there anything you do like about The Prequels... — Page 2

The problem with Palpy's make-up in Episode III is that it should have not been made to match the ROTJ make up. They shouldn't have tried to match him with ROTJ. All we knew about the Emperor in the days before the prequels was he was an old man when he declared himself Emperor and by the time ROTJ rolled around, he was a very old man. This change in ROTS seemed entirely unnecessary to me. He looked wrinkled and decrepit in ROTJ because he was just old.

Oh, yeah, I remember a couple of things now:

I liked the design for the Naboo Starfighter (and I like the ship partly because it was the best ship in Rogue Squadron)
The seismic charges in the asteroid field (the "audial black hole" really caught me off guard, and I thought it was awesome!)

That's all I have right now.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

If they had approached the target from above the trench, they would have been exposed to the surface guns and torn to bits. That was the whole point of the trench run: It was a daring technique made necessary by the nature of the Death Star. Nothing on Tatooine made pod racing necessary for or logically connected to getting off the planet. They could have just as easily played sabacc for a ship, or stolen one, etc. The race was inserted just to add yet another high-speed fly-through-things sequence and keep continuity with RotJ's "great pilot" line in light of Anakin's reconceptuatlization as a child.

Would you guys feel different about the podrace if it wasn't cg but real models?

The pod race was dismal regardless of the techniques used to animate it.

LOL, I wrote so many times what I hate about PT, so it would be something new to write anything positive for a change

-many design sketches, some never used (yup, I like to collect those albums)
-J.Williams score was good, but previous scores were great... great>good
-Darth Sidious holograms... good old Palpie! made me believe I'm watching Star Wars when the Episode I was screened - love those Force Lightnings, too
-Coruscant, esp. at night, also when shown from low orbit - I dig those big CGI cities
-first 10-or-so minutes of E1 (before JJB shows up)
-Jango Fett, Slave I - even with all cons it brings, it was like a piece of beloved ESB for me
-Jango's pursuit after Obi in the asteroids (esp. the blaster-dogfight) and their duel just before
-Republic gunboats - wow, they had Hueys back then! too bad they didn't play Wagner to scare the poodoo from those Separatist scum!
-seal of the Republic, so similar to Imperial, makes me feel so moved and patriotic and...
-Federation's control ships
-AT-TE walker and few similar designs (but not the artillery!)
-"...my little green friend..." - priceless!
-Republican Destroyers (but I hate the concept of huge ships like Acclamator being able to *land* on the planet - if so, why use those Lambda-class Shuttles, Delta-class Transports etc. etc.? tiny legs and loading ramp suck - big ships should stay on low orbit)
-Droidekas (but not their visible shields)
...

...wait, most of those things are from designs department, and this has little to do with the actual movie itself... (storyline, acting, editing etc.)
I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...
How did I accomplish that (considering my age) is my secret...

That's very true. He was pretty good and evil before he "mutated" or was "unmasked" in ROTS. Maybe it would have been "neat" to see him nearly killed in ROTS, so his dark essence would be partly disembodied, and that partial incorporeality would decay him over time and give him that phantom-like quality that GL was going for originally in the designs somewhere in between ESB and ROTJ.

If you can approach the death star from any location into the trench then why can't you approach it at the part of the trench were the exhaust is? Besides the laser towers in the trench can't hit the x-wings coming right for them so approaching a turret from above or from the side doesn't really matter.
It was a daring technique necessary to make a cool movie. I love the trench run and it's way cooler than the podrace.

Hey, the Rebels could have shot a volley of long-range shots directly at the exhaust port from a thousand miles away using just the right trajectory, if they had wanted to and "really" knew what they were doing. I'm sure at least one would have gone in. That would have been a much better ending for Star Wars.

That would have been so lame. Talk about anti-climax. The whole point of the movie is good triumphing over evil against all odds. If laser blast could really travel forever without depleting then the galaxy would be a very dangerous place with rogue laser blasts constantly flying from every direction.

In x-wing vs tie fighter it was very easy to shoot longe range incoming missiles with other missiles. So that won't work I think.

The lightsaber battle between Darth Maul, Obi-Wan and Schindler kicks the ass of anything in the OT.

I thought Sith was very good, especially compared to Clones and Menace.
George Lucas was seduced by the dark side. The OOT ceased to exist in his mind and became the Special Editions...." "They're more maching now than movies. Twisted and evil."

I enjoyed the PT, but I LOVED the OT. I liked Darth Maul, he should have been kept on all the way through to Vader I think. I also enjoyed seeing the Jedi Council and how they functioned. I will agree with many, many here that the PT could have been so much better, but what good would it do. I just keep hoping for my unaltered restored OT.

"and Schindler"

Don't you mean Rob Roy?

I liked the pod-race, but it would have been better if they left out the asinine announcers, in my opinion... That's why i enjoyed the MagnoliaFan edit much better...
