I'm not really sure how Bingowings is saying anything different from what I was saying, which is, "It was a bad idea for Lucas, but not necessarily a bad idea in itself, and not because of accusations of 'being cheap' but because Lucas is a broad idea man who gets jumbled up in the details and needs people around him to help him formulate those ideas in a coherent way."

I'm sure many of the ideas we love the best were developed in that manner but if Captain Lucas listened to Jake more instead of that haughty lassie Ric he would have got him to cut down on the fresh breath mints and devised a less fatal attack stratagem.
