It's really exciting to hear of this kind of stuff falling into the hands of those who really care about and want to preserve them.

I just hope the legal quagmires of such things don't end up in having them forcefully removed from your posession, since your intentions are not to profit, but to spread love and joy.

Sigh... If only George Lucas was as proud of the original films as he should be, this wouldn't be an issue.

Negative 1 is probably broke form buying reel 6 of star wars so i thought i would post this link for those who are interested.  No i am not the seller and being broke myself, and kicking myself for missing the opportunity.

Here is a 16mm low fade lpp print of a revenge of the jedi trailer.

Also i have in my possession A Return of the Jedi Trailer from 1983 35mm .  If i was not broke right now i would mail it out to someone on these boards who might be interested in giving it a go of a transfer.

If not at least it would get a good home, LOL.

Negative1 bought it?! LOL!

I guess if you ever find a suitable way to scan it, you could combine it with HD footage of the other 100 minutes of the film.

i've never seen 95% of the trailers

Wow, that's hard to believe considering the massive amount of discs people here have made that contain a ton of the trailers on them. Do you not have many fan discs or something? I'm not trying to be funny, I'm just surprised. And I think the "Revenge" trailer is on the 2004 'Bonus Material' disc, innit?

I have a bunch of trailers for the original three films.  If you guys find a good lab I'd be happy to send them a reel for scanning.

If you can get a good image, does the sound matter that much?  What if you could scan a lo-fade print of SW (not SE) but it has a foreign language track?

The thing with the revenge of the jedi trailer is you could end up with the more generic version, the one i want has that sandstorm clip. It last less than a second but is from a deleted scene. Also Luke's Lightsaber is Blue.

I am also looking for the empire trailer that was not on the 2004 dvd bonus disc. It was released in 35mm flat and scope versions and has Vilvaldis winter from the four seasons as temp track music.

the problem with all the star wars trailers prior to late 1982 is that they are all faded eastman or fuji stock, LPP low fade was released in late 1982 and was used in 1983 onward.

This is why you can get a 1982 re-release trailer of Star wars without fading but the 77 trailer is now faded to pink or even worse i have seen some without the color at all.

See this is even a problem with reels from 1977 star wars and 1980 empire strikes back as they were generally on eastman safety film and all have faded badly, most have vinegar syndrome as well.

But you can find when ever they show up completely unfaded 35mm prints from 1983 or 1985 for return of the jedi as long as they are LPP.

Those film cels from willits designs come from the internegative or interpositive and that was fading to pink.

Are these 16mm or 35mm?

I got our old CED player working again and really want to transfer my Star Wars CED's to DVD for nostalgia purposes (as that's what I grew up watching)

I just need to get out of the hole so I can actually but the necessary equipment to hook it up to my puter.

I just won a 35mm trailer for the empire strikes back from 1982 that only has about 80% of the original color still left according to the seller.

Re-release trailer.

The revenge trailer i want is a buy it now for over 200 hundred dollars ouch.  and the rare empire trailer is over a hundred bucks also.

I got the Jedi and Empire trailers i have from the same seller.  Which again since it is star wars was a 100 dollars or 50 bucks each.

The trailers have been released on the 2004 set and many of the editdroid trailers are up on t'bones website in shitty quality.

What no one has done yet are HD transfers of the original trailers from 1977-1985

It is funny as hell but you cannot even find 720p trailers for the special editions in 1997.

I've wanted those editdroid discs for years and can find no one willing to trade them.  The torrents are never seeded and i refuse to use rapidshit since my internet connection is already fucking bonkers expensive.

This.  I refuse to pay for piracy above and beyond the $80 a month I pay for my connection.

All my stuff is in 35mm.

I agree that 70s Eastman stuff is pretty bad, many original trailers are beet red.  But Fujifilm does not fade like that.  If stored & cared for properly, it just shifts a bit towards purple.  I have an original SW 'teaser' on Fujifilm that has very vivid blues.  Some of the regular SW trailers were on Fujifilm as well.  I have one ESB on Agfa that looks completely unfaded.

The Eastman trailers are better in the 80s.  I have some ESB and a Revenge that still have good color.  All of the '82 SW reissues I have seen are on regular Eastman, not lo-fade, but they still look good.

If you want scans of the trailers, why don't you avoid the hassle of tracking down your own prints and go to a trailer archive?  You'd get the best possible quality that way.  You could get clips from the features as well.
