man, the more I colour correct this puppy mverta style, the more I can’t believe that lucasfilm let this get released as it is.

the colour values are so screwed its unbelievable. some scenes are so blue and red boosted i cannot believe that so called THX ‘quality control’ certified this thing.

example, techdome on tatooine after the droids have just been purchased. everything is red shifted, too dark and blue values have been boosted over 40% above normal to make artoo’s blue ‘fit’ the other films. the only problem is it looks ridiculous. it’s so obviously wrong.

luke’s shirt is a reddy pink rather than white and the black values are all over the place.

hey, its fixable but its annoying that someone like me with £1500 of computer equipment is having to do what should have been done in the first place.

Hear, hear.

Lucas is so in love with his technology, that anything new looks good to him. Just read the sig.

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

These color shifts occur across the entire 2004 trilogy. They did a very shoddy job considering the technology at THX's disposal. Fixing the color (or attempting to anyways) is a nightmare because these color boosts vary widely even within scenes.

I just watched "A New Hope" 2004 version - YUCK! I even tuned my TV with the THX set up (tried AVIA no better) MAN, it was horrid - I even noticed (I think I noticed it) that the audio was real wonky - real low then extra loud in most of the two-shots and some of the suround effects sounded WAY forced (maybe the result of a botched 5.1 EX mix?)

I have a Oynkyo DDex/DTSes reciever with NHT New Waves (not the best - but darn good) and I have to say that the PCM track on the "Cowclops" transfer sounds better downmixed via Pro-Logic II the these so called THX mastered discs.

Trust me, you're not hearing things, Rik. It's so bad I suspect the quality-control guys didn't even watch the movie...in fact, I don't think ANYONE at LFL or THX did...I refuse to believe it was Lowry's doing after seeing their Indy work...
