Info & Idea: Cheap 35mm Scanner Viability?

Greetings Captain Solo

I have access to some 35mm star wars reels and want to make test scanning of them, i do not have access to expensive scanning equipment .

I wonder if anyone has tried converting one of these to scan 35mm film, i mean considering the speed at which a phone takes photos; it might be viable to prepare some tests. I have the S4 which has an outstanding camera.

Hey this looks actually interesting, I wonder what's the quality of the scan

Surely its dependent on the camerphone :P

I'm getting myself one for christmas.  I have about 2-3 minutes of sw on 35mm that I want to scan.  I have a galaxy s2+ and a program that can take png's.  If it works I'll post some shots.

Luke threw twice…maybe.

I'm not an expert, but I guess if this device would have a D65 light and the camera would be locked to a correct white point, maybe something good could come out of it. They don't state anything about the light though so I doubt it's something accurate.

davros, get in touch with team negative1, they would probably scan (or at least test scan) your print.

poita has a high quality 35mm scanner so it would probably be even better to contact him.

Sounds good! What film ? Please post any examples

And in response   Feallan . Yeah i did a couple of years back , its owned by a friend in London, but we are hesitant as we are concerned about the legality of it.

Well, that complicates things, poita lives in Australia, and team negative1 in USA. :(

Also, is it a complete print? What's its condition?

I have sent prints to and from London and the rest of the UK, it isn't a problem, but there is a preferred way to do it.

I've sent you a PM :)

Oh, and don't waste your money on the firebox, it really is awful, you could spend that money in better ways to get your print scanned. Drop me a PM.

It is Star Wars on Eastman I think.  I will definitely post some pictures when I get it. What type of film is yours printed on, if you don't mind me asking?
