Anyone got the laserdisc of Michael Crichton's Looker? It would be great to have this film on DVD.

If somebody did produce these, I'm fairly sure the faces will be blurred out and no actual names will be used. lol

I personally love the fact that the shark in Revenge beats the private jet to the island. Oh yeah, the island....THAT'S where you go to get away from a shark...

God I love those movies.

Hey now...how come noone's brought up "Howard the Duck"? I don't think its on DVD...is there an LD transfer out there?

I have a vhs rip of pretty good quality I found before. "Howard the Duck" is just too bad to be forgotten about. It needs to be loved, cherished, and shared. If for no other reason then to keep GL humble and grounded. "PlayDuck" Magazine? Did somebody REALLY get paid to write that??

By the way, I can't get that BladeRunner cover to load up either.

I just wanted to know something...

How many copies of BladeRunner are going about? I have the Criterion Disc that was posted to the newsgroup and I have the previous DVD release. Is the 'On the edge of...' documentary also out?

If anyone could get these to me (I live in the UK) then I'll be happy to pass a copy onto someone else or I dunno, send someone a copy of 'Ong-Bak' or something.

Well, it WAS based on a comic book. I will always have a soft spot for that movie's weirdness. It may be a failure, but it's a noble failure. Plus, between that and Back to the Future, Lea Thompson was my first movie crush.

As for Jaws: The Revenge-- aren't there missing scenes on the DVD? I remember reading about changes/cuts for home video versions, I think. I wonder if the sequels will ever get the royal treatment of Jaws I?

I've just completed a cover for the Jedi/Feta Bladeruner DVD if anyone wants that. Here's a preview:

I really like that cover (When oh when is drawn artwork going to come back into fashion). But there's 2 things...

1) Does it need that little head thing next to the 'Criterion' title? (I'm guessing it's their logo?)

2) Does it also need that Jedi/Feta logo on the bottom?

I understand if you want to put your own stamp of ownership on there but I'm just being anal now, I guess I like my covers to be untainted is all.

booah:
Yeah, a little upgrade on Jaws 3 & 4 wouldn't be too bad. Even though the films are bad, there's a place for them on my shelf next to 1 & 2 for novelty's sake.

Jaws 3 could include:
* The movie in 3D format (this has been done with the crappy red/blue glasses for Shrek 3D).
* Deleted scenes (I believe there are several)
* The "Making of Jaws 3"

Jaws The Revenge could include:
* Deleted Scenes
* The "Making of Jaws 4"

They could even interview everybody involved with these films. They could all have a little rant about what a disaster the 3rd and 4th installments were. How 3 should have been a spoof as was originally intended, and how 4 should have never been made. And just to clarify, this post isn't meant to be sarcastic. I'd actually buy Jaws 3 & 4 if they had more features.

Yes. It is their logo after all.

2) Does it also need that Jedi/Feta logo on the bottom?

Considering I myself spent probably over 30 hours of work overall on it and Dark Jedi spent probably the same then yes, I believe we have some right to place our logo somewhere on it.

I understand if you want to put your own stamp of ownership on there but I'm just being anal now, I guess I like my covers to be untainted is all.

Then make your own cover. This cover was desinged specifically for the Dark Jedi/Boba Feta release.

Ok then, well that came out all wrong. I wasn't trying to be difficult, just making an observation.

I only asked about the Criterion 'head' because I'd never seen it before, so I'm just guessing that it's exclusive to Laserdisc rather than DVD?.

As for your own logo, the only issue I had was that it seemed somewhat obtrusive. Of course, it's all down to preference though and I'm sure that most people just flat out don't care, I'm not saying that you shouldn't leave your credit on the cover of course, it's just that I felt the logo stuck out like a sore thumb.

But there again...apart from me who's going to see it...

I'm just rambling now, sorry if I've caused any offence though, that really wasn't my intention. I'd love a copy of that cover though, I already have the 'Black and White' one, which is nice. But your cover is a lot classier.

EDIT: Thanks Citizen, turned that on now.

Point taken. Perhaps our logo is a little obtrusive. I think I'll downsize it somewhat and juggle things round a bit.

The original theatrical ending (which i personally like A LOT better) has never been seen on vhs, laserdisc or DVD. It only appears on the TV version (whether HBO or otherwise).

what about the original untoyed around with thx 1138 or american graffiti, did these ever get done on these boards. Also what about the original version of willow. Thanks. I too would like to see a quality dvd rip of howard the duck from laserdisc, but it would have to be full frame because no anamorphic or letterbox home video version exists. Unless we ever see an official release, but that is as slim as the star wars holiday special, or the original versions of star wars on dvd. Maybe so fan out there has a theater print that could be telecined, who knows?

Is anyone interested in Mike Leigh's "Naked" (Criterion), or David Lynch's "On the Air"? I have both on LD, and I've been planning to rip them to DVD, but my first attempt (plugging a seemingly crappy LD player straight into my stand-alone Phillips DVD Recorder) was quite the failure (extremely grainy). If anyone is interested, and can give me an idea of what I would need to accomplish this, I would be more than willing to rip them.

Anybody out there have the LD of _Colossus: The Forbin Project_?
I'd love a widescreen DVD of that. I must have emailed Universal
10 times, asking for a widescreen DVD (before and after it was
released in November), but never got a reply.

Thanks,
Pib

Mike Leigh's "Naked" is being released by Criterion on DVD in about 3 weeks.

Yes, but it appears to be missing some of the best features of the LD. The LD has the complete short film "The short and curlies", with director commentary, the complete Mike Leigh radio drama "Too much of a good thing", and the compressed introduction to chaos theory and barcode conspiracies. Not to mention the DVD is 131 min and the LD is 135 min.

Hey,

I just thought I'd throw another one out there. I was wondering if anybody had a copy of "The Wizard" on DVD?
It's that 1989 Nintendo movie starring Fred Savage. Man, I loved that movie as a kid.
I've seen a couple of DVDs pop up on ebay, but I thought I'd check if anyone a copy to possibly torrent or something.
Anyway, thanks...
