A CED transfer of starwars has just been put up an a.b.starwars.

Can anyone tell me about CED and this release of start wars, how does the quality compare to Laser disc?

Its a 1982 release so its pre thx which might be a good thing? Also could a similar thing be done with a CED player in the way that the XØ team used the modern comb filter on a capture card to improve transfer quality?

I didn't know that anyone had done a capture of Star Wars from the old CED discs. Thats interesting.

CED is a disc format that, IIRC, was on discs that were similar to the old vinyl records. As far a quality goes, the best one could hope for is VHS quality, and certainly lower quality than a laserdisc. And that is assuming that they aren't scratched, which CED discs were very prone do doing, and they haven't been played too many times, which can also deteriorate quality over time, similar to playing a record too many times. The biggest thing this has going for it is the uniqueness of the source.

It's seem worth it to download and have a look. I wonder what audio mix is on there. Thanks for the heads up.

Edit: Hey, it's from The Starkiller.
Fez: I am so excited about Star Whores.
Hyde: Fezzy, man, it's Star Wars.
