Info: X-Men Animated Series Pilot "Sneak Peak" & "No Mutant" Original Version (FOUND!)

With the relatively recent release of X-Men: First Class, my inner X-Men: The Animated Series fan has been renewed. šŸ˜ƒ

I was wondering if anyone had the ā€œSneak Peakā€ version of the animated series of the X-Men Animated Series Two-Part Pilot: Night of the Sentinels. It had a bunch of animation errors, such as Gambit having white eyes, Beast not having clearly defined fur, Sentinels looking too small, Cyclops having gray glasses, and Rogue having gloves at the wrong time. It also featured extended dialogue. You can see some of the differences in the recap of ā€œEnter Magneto.ā€ This website lists most differences here.

Also, a second X-Men item Iā€™m looking for is the alternative/original version of ā€œNo Mutant Is An Island.ā€ This episode couldnā€™t air in itā€™s proper place after the Phoenix Saga due to animation difficulties. However, they inexplicably decided to finish it for Season 5 even though it now made little sense chronologically. You can see the differences in the same website here.

Since the official DVDs donā€™t contain these, Iā€™d be curious to see both of these episodes. If anyone can upload these to some file-sharing website, it would be much appreciatedā€¦

<span style=ā€œtext-decoration: line-through;ā€>If anyone wants the original version of the episode ā€œThe Final Decisionā€ (with the original Mr. Sinister voice), I have that, so PM me if interested.</span>

EDIT: As it turns out, the version of ā€œThe Final Decisionā€ on the X-Men Vol. 1 DVD has the original Mr. Sinister voice. However, the Legend of Wolverine DVD contains the deeper, modified, and less comical voice which was on the VHS releases and re-airings. As this was released previously, I canā€™t share this. Apologiesā€¦

as a fellow xmen fan id also be interested in these episodes as well

"Changing classic movies at all is just wrong." Puggo

"HA, Ha, you r ghey" was probably a hilariously insulting comment in Elementary and Middle School, but its not cooly insulting anymore and its certainly not funny: it makes people who say it look like, well, an "inbred monkey." TheSessler

"I'm still %20 the wiser. It amused me that after doing a google image search for "The Final Milf" the second picture is Roger Delgado followed by lots and lots of porn." Bingowings

Unfortunately, it seems that any of the official VHSes do not contain the original version of the pilot. The only place to find it seems to be a homemade recording.

However, No Mutant Is An Island's original version was used in some foreign territories, so it is possibly in the UK release of the X-Men Animated Series. According to tv.com, this X-Men DVD has the original version though I have yet to verify this.

Sadly, Buena Vista really screwed us over with those DVDs. Plenty of ghosting from NTSC/PAL conversions and even occasionally some PAL speed-up! This show needs more treatment than just rescuing of original versions of the episodes....

Didn't know about the PAL issues... Though I haven't watched them that recently, I believe the NTSC DVDs were in pretty good shape, minus some annoying EE in Season 5 (which was an awful season in any case).

Hey man, sorry about the delay. I was pretty sure I had these, I just didn't have time to track down the discs.

Just scanned through Night of the Sentinels (which is both parts, straight through) and it looks to be the original "sneak peek", which would explain why I noticed some missing bits when I watched it on Netflix.

I only checked a little bit of No Mutant is an Island, but it looks to be the original version. The art style is completely different between the two.

I downloaded all of these from KaZaA back in the day, so the quality's not that great (151 MB,  320x240 for NotS; 57 MB, 352x240 for NMiaI, both AVI files), but I'll get it uploaded for you.

It's gonna take about an hour, so I'll PM you when it's finished.

Edit: PM sent. Let me know if anything's wrong.

Nice! You are a god-save, Asaki! It's nice that these get released. I looked over both of these and you're right they are the original versions. They are low quality but it's fine. This is awesome!

If I ever see whether or not the No Mutant Is An Island DVD has the original version, I'll report it here.

*Changed the Thread Title BTW*

Wait, there was a Season 5???

ā€œI find your lack of faith disturbing.ā€

Ah yes there was a Season 5 but it had lower quality animation and, IMHO, was actually downright awful. Some voice actors also did not return to re-voice their characters. It's available in the US on DVD.
