Has anyone done a fan edit of the goonies combining the tv versions footage and the dvd footage? Ive seen a few people talking about jason goes to hell but how about halloween movie fan edits where there are plenty of extra scenes ie halloween, h2 tv cut, halloween 5 involving jamie, h20 tv version and halloween homecoming.

There is a bunch of Halloween edits around that Rikter has done. I think he took TV footage and added it into the movies. I'm not sure I really haven't seen them. In fact the only fan edits I have seen are the Magnolia Fan edits. That was years ago however.

I do know that at one time someone was working on a version of Halloween that put parts one and two into one long movie.

I don't know what ever happened with that.

It was CLP who was working on that project. I believe he had a hard drive crash and not only lost that project but some more personal projects, so he said he wouldn't do such projects again.

I am planning on doing a similar project, joining H1 and H2, but I want to include the TV scenes for both and have the whole thing in 5.1. Thus, I need to get my hands on the Spanish Halloween 2 DVD before I can start.

I have a Halloween 2 - ultimate cut on DVD which i got off Rikter which is the TV scenes put into the film, and have the Halloween TV version on an official Anchor Bay DVD, and that is one thing i would to see is both Halloween and Halloween 2 edited in to one film.

It would be nice to do a fan edit of The Muppet Movie. There's a really obscure cut out there which is longer - I only have it in Pan & Scan and in terrible quality, wish I had it better, as it has a longer version of "I hope that something better comes along", and most notably a better ending - the Muppets talk over the credits! Really amusing, nice stuff there. I think that the ending is actually the same edit visually, only the sound is different (with the Muppets being audible as they talk) ... So it would be possible to make that change easily, just that one change to the ending. Hm.

In the Classic Jedi thread, I discuss the best way to do an extended fan edit of Army of Darkness. I did one years ago. You have to use the Hong Kong DVD, as it's the best quality out there, and "hack" it, a la the Classic Editions.

I started a thread on this elsewhere, but for the record, I would LOVE to see a fan-edit of the 8th Halloween movie: Halloween: Resurrection. I am a long time, die-hard fan of the Halloween movies, and Resurrection was such a disappointment. However, I think enough material is there that it could be somewhat salvaged. (Spoilers) I think if you re-cut the film to have Laurie's death occur at the end of the film, it would be much more dramatic. I would edit it so that the opening stays the same up until the camera goes through the window of Laurie's room and holds on her, then dissolve to the shot outside the college. I would then intersperse shots/scenes of Laurie througout the movie (as if she knows Michael is coming once he's kills all the teens in his house and she's getting ready for him), saving their dramatic meeting for the final act, giving her character a proper send-off.

Personally, i would cut out the whole Big Brother aspect of H8 and instead using the opening 10-15 mins of the film and edit it into H20. The film would come full circle at the end.

I thought about this too. I think a project like this would definitely benefit from flashbacks from previous movies being inserted (just as the 'flashback' of how The Shape crushed the paramedic's throat was done). Whether you are inserting H8 into H20 or vice versa, it would help to beef up the running time as the theatrical cut of H8 is only about an hour and twenty minutes (minus credits).
