Info Wanted: Your 'go to' versions of the PT

since we are now on the cusp of ESB:R i have been looking into replacing my PT DVD’s with better fanedits. i have already decided to go with L8twr’s Shadow of the Sith for TPM (though i did redo the crawl to reinstate the original title and trim it to 3 pargraphs instead. i also chnged the wording a bit too). I havent decided what wil replace AOTC, though any edit would polish that turd. so my question is, what are your favorite edits of the PT and why?

HAL 9000 v2 the whole way for me. Seciors' Ep I is also a good alternative if you prefer deeper cuts (no Sidious in his version).

My suggestion is Seciors 1 and 2, L8wrtr's 3. Been watching this way the last while and I'm pretty happy with it.

The Q2 saga doesn't quite do it for me, but I will say that it is very streamlined and professional, and offers a very nice consistent trilogy.

Preferred Saga:
1/2: Hal9000
3: L8wrtr
4/5: Adywan
6-9: Hal9000

Q2's does the best job of removing everything wrong with it, but what's left doesn't feel like a complete film.  It kinda feels like an hour and 20 minute long preview of a film.

my hand's down go-to PT is:

EP1. Seciors' Return of the Sith

EP2. Seciors' Army of the Republic

EP3. L8wrtr's Dawn of the Empire

If you want to do a prequel viewing with a different fan editor for each film, you could use Seciors' Ep1, L8wrtr's Ep2, and my Ep3. (Ep 2 and 3 could be swapped.)

Mixing and matching like this is always problematic for continuity, though. Someone should really make a compatibility spreadsheet. TV's Frink has been a lazybones the past several years. Lazybones!

My stance on revising fan edits.

Plus it all depends on your perspectives of the films.

If you *like* the films as a whole but don't love them, as in you enjoy them but there are things about them that annoy you, HAL's is the way to go.  They don't gut the films or make them into different experiences, but they mold what's already there into a much tighter more enjoyable film.  (Overall his are my favorites, although I would cut just a couple more things)

If you think the films aren't very good but you don't really know why, say you don't really put your finger on what it is you don't like about them, I would say L8tr is the way to go.  He doesn't change major story arcs, but he does a bit more "streamlining" than HAL's do, and removes more.

If you don't like the films very much but like certain moments of them, Q2 is the way to go.  He cuts the most and leaves only the bare bones.  The result is a no bullshit fast paced ride, that is very enjoyable but at times feels like it's missing something.

If you just hate the films and want alternative story's, there are other options but I'm not too well versed in the more radical edits.

I like L8wrtr's best overall, although I wouldn't necessarily call them definitive.

HAL's are a bit more lenient on pacing and a bit less aggressive with cutting.

I personally still like Kerr's episode III the best although it's only available as a SD DVD.

Q2's I would only try if you want the OT "secrets" preserved although that's never interested me.

Seciors Episode I is interesting (I haven't watched it front to back but it does some bold things), his Episode II doesn't really work for me at all however.

Q2's are also very aggressive as far as removing cheesy one liners and cutting the fat.

I also really appreciate that L8tr kept the fight between yoda and palpatine in ROTS.  Most ediors cut this out, I like it better left in.  He got rid of the most offensive parts.

i think for me, the reson i enjoy l8twr's TPM is the fact that he makes it make sense, i have watched a bit of his version of AOTC and i am not sure of a few things left in. i hear that HAL's version is really good but d/ling every piece from mega is a pain. i got a myspleen but no one has been seeding it.

i think my biggest beef with the fan edits is the change of the titles of the movies. i understand that it is a way for each individual editor identify their work, but i like the names of TPM and ROTS. the only title i would change is AOTC. to me it just doesnt make sense. that is why i have been changing the opening crawl to my liking for each of the edits i am calling my definative versions.

HAL 9000 for me.  Simply incredible how much different Attack of the Clones feels with those deleted scenes.  Also cuts made greatly improve the romance!  Now if only Disney would release new BLU's with HD Deleted scenes....

Long time lurker - first time poster... Was wondering if anyone has watched the 'Reconstructed' PT by Atlantis and others? ( OT.com/fan-edits/fan-project-details.cfm/Fan-Edits/title/Star-Wars-Episode-III-Revenge-of-the-Sith-Reconstr/project/388/category/4/ )

I didn't find much discussion of it and I could only see on OT.com (not 'the other one' - FE.org). I thought I might  do a review of it if no one has already...

Also, so I can compare it to something... if anyone has HAL 9000's new PT would they be willing to put on a.b.s ?
