Info Wanted: 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?' - has anyone done the uncensored version?

Are there any preservation projects for Roger Rabbit? I imagine no home edition of the movie has the Betty Boop flash or the director’s phone number, but I’ve heard the LD does have the uncensored “'Scuse me, toots,” scene, as well as the peek up Jessica’s dress. Both were modified by Disney, even on the “Enthusiast” disc in the 2-disc DVD set.

Not that I, you know, want to see Betty Boop or Jessica Rabbit naked. I’d just really like to get the most complete version of this film possible. The official DVD release is fantastic, but I still feel a little cheated that they redrew a few frames. There’s probably still enough stuff out there that didn’t make the official DVD that a decent fan DVD could be put together; I’m working on a couple potential extras, myself.

The NTSC LD of the Short films has the Uncut version of the third Short. There is also a Roger Rabbit and the secret of ToonTown (60 minutes), hosted by Gene Kelly.

There's already a thread about this. I sold the uncensored LD to Darth Enzo to do this project a few months ago and have not heard back from him since. Enzo, care to update us?

I don't have a timetable for it yet, but it *IS* on the list, and very near the top. I'd hoped to get started with some transfers this week, but the wifey's gone cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs selling old collectibles on eBay. Right now the computer room's full of storage crates sorted into photographed, listed and sold, and cardboard boxes full of cardboard boxes, all of which leaves me no place to safely set up the LD player.

Rest assured, it will get done, and it'll be distributed through whatever means are available. Some other LD transfers I'm planning:

King Kong/Son of Kong -- ADigitalMan and I started conspiring on this before the new DVD was announced, so I'm gonna do it first just out of principle
Looney Tunes -- everything on the Golden Age of Looney Tunes vol. 1 LD that isn't on DVD yet
Citizen Kane -- there's a supplement on the 2nd CAV Criterion set that has interviews and comments with several filmmakers, 4 at a time onscreen with their voices on different audio tracks. Not sure how I'll handle it yet, but it'll be interesting.
The Lion King -- it's subtle, but roughly 20% of the film was re-animated for the IMAX release that the DVD came from.
Knick Knack -- Pixar short from 1989, included on the Toy Story CAV LD. When it was re-released with Finding Nemo, the blonde figurine had undergone a significant breast reduction. Boobs = good.

There are several other titles where I'm gonna sift and compare LD and DVD supplements and transfer things that didn't get ported over.

If you want to go for ther most complete version, I say you gotta add that scene in which Bob Hoskins' character is found by judge Doom and gets a pig head "tooned" into his.

I'd love to see those laserdisc extras and the uncensored cut of Roger, too... they'd make a nice addition to that R1 2-DVD set.

I've got a VHS ith the TV cut of Roger Rabbit from the very early 90s. It has 2 extra deleted scenes NOT currently on any official release. I would be happy to lend it out for transfer ( I currently am without VCR). Send mea PM or email if you can cap it and return it.
What do you mean there's no ice? I gotta drink this coffee hot?!

The DVD release has those scenes on the extras. It could also be used.

AFAIK, the DVD only had one of the 3 deleted scenes. Does it in fact have all 3?

Disney could strike with a vengeance. They did sue a children's cancer clinic for painting Donald Duck on the wall, after all.

What are the extra deleted scenes besides the pig thing?

"Who Censored Roger Rabbit?" was of course also the original title of the novel the film was based on - a terrible book actually, bearing little resemblance to the film.

Thanks for the replies, everyone.

Ash595 ... They cut one of the shorts, too? DVDfile.com missed that one; they're usually very good at noticing cuts made to DVDs. What was the nature of the cut? The third one was the one in the forest, right?

TR47 ... I used the search function before posting, but it didn't find anything to do with 'rabbit.' Then again, it didn't find this thread tonight, so maybe it's broken. Or maybe the thread disappeared due to fear of the Mouse?

Darth Enzo ... I am eagerly awaiting the end product. I have a number of blank DVDs if that will help jump-start distribution when the time comes.

ocpmovie ... I'm rather fond of the novel, actually. Considering that it's out of print and -- at least for me -- very, very difficult to find, I was considering OCR-ing it and formatting it real nice. Maybe including it with the putative DVD.

ricarleitte ... I think the pig head sequence on the DVD is full frame. I hope the LD was OAR?

Lion King did have a special edition but the original version of the film is included on the same dvd. It's a little tricky as you have to go to set-up options to make it play.

Take back the trilogy. Execute Order '77

But then Hanna Barbera offered to paint their characters for free.

yes, in the forest, Trail Mix-Up.

excerpt fro imdb.com: "The "Rigid Tools" poster, which is assumed to be the real reason for the recall of the US LaserDisc "The Best of Roger Rabbit", has been airbrushed out. As Roger is running through the sawmill in Trail Mix-Up (1993), there is a quick pan by a poster on the wall which is titled "Rigid Tools" and it shows a woman straddling a saw."

That's exactly what makes Roger Rabbit fun ... all the stuff you missed as a kid but is painfully obvious as an adult. I guess I need another copy of Trail Mix-up, too.
