 (Edited)

i have recently transfered vhs to dvd shock treatment (the sequel to the rocky horror picture show)
not bad overall but it stands for improvement
i have seen unofficial dvds of this for sale on ebay
i am not one for paying for such piracy
but was curious if anyone had seen it and could tell me of the quality
also curious if anyone had the laserdisc of shock treatment
i think it was only released in japan
its not widescreen but thought it would be the best way of preserving what there is
thanks in advance for your help

they will be sent to the danube at dawn
whats that
oh just memories

we definetly need more japanese contacts. It really seems that Japan is the one country to release almost anything. If it wasn't for the language ths would be a cool place to be, especially if you are a Hi-Tek freak.

Nothing about fanediting is easy.

I'm just seconding this idea, shock treatment does need to be preserved.
according to LDDB there was also a 1984 UK PAL release, but it only had mono sound, it was also P&S.

i third the notion

my copy of Shock Treatment is a DVR transfer from my worn out old VHS...i'd love to have a higher quality transfer & would definately donate funds to help get this project off the ground, and i'll also volunteer to author the DVD...i'm a hard core RHPS fan, so i'm a Shock treatment fan by default, i have tons of RHPS/ST related goodies that could go on the disk as supplements...i may even still have a recording of the audience callbacks from when my RHPS cast did a performance of Shock treatment a few years ago...if i can find it, it'd make a great secondary audio track

...assuming that we can get our hands on one of the laserdisk releases, are there any volunteers do the transfer to DVD?

also it may sound far fetched
but seeing how there are film prints still in existance (only a few)
it may be possible to get a widescreen transfer from them
im sure this would take equipment and knowledge
that may be beyond our grasp
they will be sent to the danube at dawn
whats that

ok upon reveiwing my transfer here are some details
the sound is stereo on the us vhs
there were 2 different us vhs issues
key video and 20th cent. fox
i have the key video version
there are a few places where the sound warbles a small speed up
im thinking it is in the master the first noticable place is when the audience is let into the studio
the color is not bad but is a very unusual tint as per the film
the scheme is further complicated by the tv show scenes which are made to look saturated (as on tv)
i wonder how the pal version holds up sound and video wise
i am very willing to do any and everything to make this happen
open for ideas and suggestions on video cleaning programs
i am very confident on my audio skills
i love this movie ( yes even more than rhps)
looking forward to your comments
they will be sent to the danube at dawn

my VHS copy is the fox version...i'll give it a solid watch/listen to see if there are any audio problems like the ones you described

there currently aren't any ebay auctions for the laserdisk...i'll ask some of the RHPS casts that i know, and see if i can't track down a copy that way

There is an LD copy for sale in the Ebay store listings here. It's not cheap though.

aparently the sound flaw is in there but only twice

http://www.rockyhorror.org/faq/nf/m-stre.html

here is some other good resources

http://www.shocktreatmentnetwork.com/merchandise-images.html

also on the same site there is a bumper made for shock treatment for fox movie network
so if they show it would that not be a great source to capture
because the copy they have has not been wacthed 2000000 times like mine

they will be sent to the danube at dawn
