Is there any way Oscar Ceremonies can be preserved and downloaded through torrents, much like your Star Wars Trilogy DVD torrents? If it can be done, or is already being done, it would be great for all us Academy Awards buffs.

I am all for that. There was a guy on ebay that was selling copies on DVD of literally every ceremony from 1980 until 2005. I asked him to do some trades and he agreed. But then he dropped of ebay and I can't get ahold of him.

I'm a pretty big fan of these shows myself. Would be pretty cool.

For The Thief And The Cobbler discs being put together, I am looking back over the past few years to find the Richard Williams acceptance speech from 1988/89 (for Roger Rabbit).

So far, I can find back to 1992, but think I started taping them in 1987 (the Snow White year I think). I'm still looking...

Keep up the good work! Eventually the Oscar Ceremonies will be brought to the Bit torrents, and then we will have peace at last.

Tequila Mockingbird, I have an interesting idea. Why not transfer the Oscar tapes you got to Bit torrent, and put them on a torrent download site like MySpleen. Might be an interesting move for all us Oscar fans.

Because I am crap with anything with the word "-torrent" in it and don't have a way to convert them.

Tequilla Mockingbird, why not download a torrent downloader like Azureus, download the video files to DVD format and then use the downloader to make your files. You could easily upload them to a torrent system like MySpleen, after they are ready.

The current big problem I have in trying to help a few people out on these here boards with the amount of archive stuff I have simply hoarded over the years is this...

I'm an editor, mostly working out and about around town (London) and using other kit. In recent years, I stopped working for others and have been developing my own projects. For this I've been using an old PC workhorse running on (don't faint!) two Pentium IIIs. From what I've been told, my computer couldn't deal with a DVD writer being installed so I have not gone down that route (the software I use has to remain Win2000 compatible too, so that strikes out installing anything that can easily convert my Matrox files to MPEG2 (trying to do so takes A G E S and always crashes the system. Usually, if I need DVD stuff done, it goes on a laptop and taken across the road to someone who converts and burns the discs. But I can't ask them to work for nothing and conver the amount of material we're looking at doing here.

Second problem is that I am now directing my own show, which is picking up in June, and am involved in doing the EPK for another movie between now and then!

So time is an issue as well as my crap old system. I have a ton of stuff and really want to get it all to you, but how and when is an issue. I'm looking at getting a DVD Recorder, which would solve all probs, but can't justify that for now when I have so many other bills and expenses coming up.

Getting stuff onto DVCam is not a problem at all, but no-one seems able to play it!!

Tequilla Mockingbird, just keep up the good work at your own pace. For all you other Oscar fans, be patient, for eventually the Oscar ceremonies will be bit torrented and they will come.

Tequilla Mockingbird, if and when you decide to upgrade your equipment or decide to buy a DVD recorder, please let this forum know. It could be of good help to this particular forum entry.
And if anyone else has or knows of anyone who has Oscar Ceremony materials, please don't hesitate to reply.
