Hi I was just wondering which audio source LeoneNut used for his preservation of Duck You Sucker. Was it the 2003 PAL disc or the 1995 LaserDisc audio track? I’ve heard that the LaserDisc had suprerior mono audio to the 2003 DVD. Can anyone clarify this?

There's the recent 2-Disc release from MGM. Is this a different cut?

The only audio option of the 2-Disc release is a horrible 5.1 remix which uses incorrect music for most of the scenes in the final 3rd of the film, as well as replacing various sound effects and censoring profanity (because the primary audio source was a censored print). Don't be fooled by the "original mono" option on the R1 2-Disc set, it's a fold-down of the 5.1 mix! I think this release should've been withdrawn long a ago by MGM but they have done no such thing. The soundtrack of the 2003 edition is in very muddy quality but at least it's the correct mix

Hi six months late.... the soundtrack on my Duck You Sucker is 99% the mono track from the non-SE R2 DVD (forget the year). I included some extra dialogue from the 5.1 track as well at the end as it syncs with the Duck You Sucker title appearing and was Leone's intention. There is also an Italian Stereo track taken from the Italian CVC DVD included as well. The cue for the final flashback is the Italian version not the English 5.1 version I believe as well.

Thanks for your reply LeoneNut. I originally asked the question because I've been thinking about acquiring the 1995 Laserdisc of DYS to check the audio myself. I gather the audio on the Laserdisc is 99% the original mix (there have been reports about a couple of lines of censored dialogue by mistake). I don't know when I'll actually get it (a little short on cash these days ;) ) but I'll be sure to let you know how the quality is when I do get it...
