Are CED discs worth anything? either monitarily or just as far as video quality or anything. Reason I ask is I saw one while in an Antique Store this weekend and almost picked it up just for the sake of having it. It was Jaws. I wouldnt have anything to play it on though, just thought it would be cool to have.

Even Back to the Future was released on ced so Jedi was not the final pressed title.
I have jedi on two white caddies though it supposedly came in a rarer blue release.
I also have 2 different star wars releases the movies are identical except one has the 2oth century fox, and the other is cbs fox video.
“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.
got the player today...
way cool..
my star wars is the cbs / fox, and my return of the jedi is the blue caddies..
i love it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! , the color drops out every once in a while, there a max-headroom
like stutters.. which might be caused by the following...
Why do some of my CED's skip, and what can I do to correct this?
Most of the skipping on CED's is caused by a condition RCA called "video virus," rather than by actual damage to the disc grooves. If the skipping goes away or becomes less pronounced when the same section is played repeatedly, then the skipping is attributable to video virus. This condition occurs when tiny dust particles on the disc surface have become "glued" to the surface by the right combination of high temperature and high humidity. Usually the stylus will break this dust free the first time it hits the dust, but sometimes the contaminated grooves will have to played a number of times to break the dust free.
Some discs will skip throughout play the first time they are played, but then not skip at all on subsequent plays. This is because the disc has not been played in a long time and required a conditioning play wherein the stylus "cuts" a groove in the glassy smooth lubricant on the disc surface.

the sound is crystal clear, and doesn't distort at all..
at when the picture is stable, the colors are clear and vivid..
yeah, its a cross between vhs quality-and subpar laserdisc...
but it's just so COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i love that you have to 'load' the disc, and flip it over after an hour,
and there are skips, and scratches just like a record player..
i'll probably get some more sets of discs just to get them, the covers with
caddies are neat also..
anybody convert these yet? i'll try to capture them, and see what happens,
with the non-cleaned up versions, and a 'fixed' one...

Apparently I grew up with the speed-compressed CED of Star Wars recorded to VHS, so I'm interested in a preservation.

i've done basic dvd mastering,
which is how i will present these.
maybe make a low res xvid avi also.
