Info Wanted: About the 1986 Japanese Laserdisc

Hi.

First of all, I never watched any SW movie. I´m familiar though with the whole George-Lucas-won´t-release-the-original-versions thing and I´ve been reading a lot lately about the different attempts to restore/re-create the original 1977 cut as best as possible (mostly thru 8mmm/16mm film or LD rips, and a coming-soon 35mm telecine which looks like will be great).

In the meantime, of all the LD official versions, the Dark/Sega one sourced from the 1986 LD looks like one of the best of the bunch (i.e. better color saturation) but it´s DVD5.

Now, is there any DVD9 rip of it?

Greetings.

Unfortunately, no.

The closest thing to a JSC DVD9 is Arnie.d's raw X9 captures. However, those have recently been demonstrated to have certain "limitations".

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

Chroma shifting, amongst other things. Take a look at the tail-end of the X9 thread.
