On the 2004 SE DVD edit of A New Hope, does the 2 channel Dolby audio have the same problems the 5.1 sound does? (For example the main theme being too quiet during the death star trench sequence.)

I’m sorry this should be under GENERAL PRESERVATION AND FAN EDITS REQUESTS, HOW-TO’S, AND TECHNICAL DISCUSSIONS shouldn’t it. How can I move it?

It's been a while since I've watched that technical abomination(being perfectly content with the Darth Editous' version, and chomping at the bit for the arrival of Adywan's), but I seem to remember the spanish and french soundtracks actually being devoid of the problems that plague the english language options on that disc, correct?

if that were true, then you could extract the corrected moment for audio (at least in places with no talking). or i guess i could use darth editious as a source (which i just recently got).

does a list exist of all the problems in the audio? all the links ive found seem to be down or lead to an incorrect place.

It was my impression that that was a choice by Ben Burtt to all but remove the fanfare in that sequence to replace it with new audio... not an error.

Is it not sad that in this time, we are more surprised by acts of love than acts of hate?

For the hell of it, I just checked the spanish and french tracks on the ANH disc. Lo and behold, the fanfare is loud and clear in the french 2.0, but missing in the spanish track.

If that's true, then a) it was a stupid decision because that fanfare bit rocks, and b) why is the fanfare music still in the rear channels? That's how I lined up the audio from the CD in the front channels.

Everybody knows LFL screwed up the music for the 2004 audio track. In some places the music in the rear channels is reversed. For the trenchrun part they said that to change the music when the x-wings roll over and dive towards the Death Star was a "deliberate creative decision". Ofcourse that turned out to be bullshit since the french track (not just the 2.0 but also the 5.1) has the correct audio.

Btw, adywan, I hope for your edit you use the french 5.1 for the trenchrun part? It's only a few seconds but it makes all the diference.
Fez: I am so excited about Star Whores.
Hyde: Fezzy, man, it's Star Wars.

Is the fanfare issue the only problem then? If so that would be easy to fix with another source, and I could use the 2 channel audio as the main source.
