JD, that is the crappiest news!!! Is it 100% that it is SPFX? So close, yet so far...

the search continues

I gotta say, I find this whole thing very frustrating. I appreciate Darth Neo's desire to not break his promise and certainly understand and respect that. But I much rather see the thing then read a website about it. Nevertheless, I eagerly await what he comes up with and appreciate his involvement with this forum and sharing what he can, as he is not obligated to even let us know about this to begin with.

That said, I hope another source comes through, as this is the Holy Grail for Empire fans...

OK, on the wizard_7's list he has both SPFX and the making of Empire listed right? Well, maybe email him and tell him he sent the wrong one? Or, maybe we should request both? What do you guys think? Or do you think its a dead end?

It wouldn't hurt to ask if he didn't make a mistake, but I doubt he did. With the amount of stuff he has, he probably has two different copies of SPFX, and doesn't even realize it. It is looking like this thing may never surface.

This is just one dead end. There are still other inquiries out there.

Hey guys. Been out all day. But I have just contacted thewizard_7 to confirm that there hasn't been a mix up. I will let you know what he says.

I still have two leads to follow up. One guy who owns tonnes or OT stuff from back in the day. He is currently searching through hundreds of VHS tapes for me.

Secondly I have a contact from a semi-official source checking out his 'library'. Again, I will let you know the results of his search.

Cheers

And honestly, if you have watched "Building Empire", you have already seen the best parts. SPFX was incredibly boring. This is why I would love a proper release of The Making of ESB. If it has Kersh talking, it has to be good.

Thanks for the info Sluggo!

Cheers!

I would like to keep this thread current...

JD, have you contacted thewizard_7 about a possible mix-up? Also, did anyone else request a copy?

I emailed him twice but got no reply. I will try again tomorrow. Still chasing the other leads.

I am visiting someone who was directly involved with the trilogy next week. Who knows what's in his library. Yes, I will be asking!

LOL

And if you find those canisters of the OT grab and run. We'll cover for you -- in spirit.
There's good in the Original Trilogy, and it's worth fighting for.

Sadly it's not George that I am visiting, nor is it the BFI. LOL.

Got a reply from thewizard_7 though:

"Yes you're right, I'll have to correct my list. When I recorded this I labeled it The Making of:"

Useful eh!

I kinda wish we'd never been told about the existence of this documentary because it's looking more and more like we'll never get the chance to see it.

We will get this, one way or another.

In the meantime, how is that website coming along Darth Neo?

Im glad at least someone here is optimistic, because this is starting to feel hopeless

All i've had is 24 views of my request, with one reply stating 'i remember seeing all these years ago. there is a Star Wars one and a Return of the Jedi one as well. wonder why they've never been released officially?', which suggests he's mistaking this for SPFX to me.

Hi Guyz,

I'm sorry to hear that your search had no results to date. It only strengthens my feelings that this is something extremely rare and that I should treat it with the utmost sincerity.
When I have a chance to meet with Gary Kurtz again (not in the foreseeable future however), I will definitely ask him permission to create a fan preservation DVD of the documentary.

The website is taking longer than anticipated because of a few extra commissions that I have to take care of for my business. I am working almost every spare moment I have on the website so I expect it to be launched soon. Understand that it is not solely about this documentary and that I plan to include rare and unseen images / video for a lot of years on the star wars timeline. I focus now on the years 1976, 1977, 1978, 1980, 1983, 1984 and 1987. When those are presentable I will launch the site. All of the other content will be added later and hopefully with your participation.
From the documentary I have created about 300 screenshots that will be included in a gallery as well as 8 video clips that will be included. For the text I can only use the spare bits of information that you guyz have provided me. Thank you for that.

I hope you can have a little more patience as I'm doing my best to have it presented to you as soon as possible.
