Didn't VidJunkie and TeamBlu already release a T2 custom Blu-ray?

Yes we did, we did 1 for T1 and T2.

...and both are really great Versions and Release.

So.. a japanese Terminator 2 DVD just arrived. Not the one with the Full Bitrate DTS track, that shall arrive someday in October.

well.. I have to admit: I got that old japanese THX certified DVD release "PIBF-1001" in CD jevel Case... and I wonder if it differs in Color from the US Live DVD. But: The DVD is still sealed! Damn!

Do you know if the colors are the same as with newer releases, or if they used an older master with different colors?

Anyone know how the 4 Disc Live Home Video Edition of T2 looks?

5 Sides Movie 2 Sides Making of in a grey Box. Seems to be released 1991.

I found this trailer on youtube. Don't know if it has been mentioned before. Per usual you can't trust trailers or cams of 35mm totally but it looks a lot like the remastered BD

After getting Terminator 2 Japanese DTS (PIBF-91219) DVD I am still in search for a russian Full Screen DVD. But nobody at eBay seems to sell one of those old russian releases... :(

@metal_havy: I don't think that anyone will have that old TV broadcast. Also it was more censored than the old German DVD.

hanks, but I already have a safety PAL Copy of the Full Screen Version, but I try to get it for my DVD Collection on the Shelf as an original DVD.

I checked out the Full Bit Rate DTS Track from the japanese DVD. And it really sounds more powerfull. I cannot check if it is indeed a full Bit Rate Version, or just "upscaled", but it sounds better and more powerfull than the normal Dolby Track on that disc...

For those interested, DoomBot supplied me with the Chace "Fake Stereo" LD audio that MrBrown captured. It is now synced to the 2013 remastered BD and available on fanres.com

Alternately, you can PM me or DoomBot for the link;)

Thanks to DoomBot for syncing and you for passing along. Now I have a reason to buy the 2013 BD. And I thought I had already enough Releases of the Movie... Seems as if that was wrong asumption...

Actually, DoomBot supplied it to me unsynced and I'm the one that did the syncing work on this one;)

Yeah, I forgot... DoomBot AND Stamper, both, sent me the same links to the unsynced audio, so thanx to them for passing it along. HUGE thanx to MrBrown for capturing and sharing the LD audio.

Even though this is a mediocre attempt at a stereo audio track, it was very interesting to compare it to the actual original mono from LD and I think it makes a very cool "extra."

Anyway, anyone interested in listening to this mix can PM me here or, if they have poweruser status or higher, can find the thread over on fanres;)

So it does seem there are 35mm prints out there with two different color palettes - the print Tyler saw, and seemingly the print that was camcorded on YouTube (more in line with the blue/orange of the video transfers, but possibly even more pushed to blue; possibly with the biker bar stuff having additional blue pushing that’s not in the home transfers?), and the prints kaosjm and Beber saw (blue-blanket scenes less pure blue with more teal and purple, orange stuff is more yellow).

What they seem to have in common (with each other and with the IP/IPs used for home video) are that the night scenes are tinted/pushed - unlike the trailers - and the steel mill stuff is pushed, but to where/how far they are pushed seems to differ. The Wikipedia article on internegatives says that color timing is done between IP and IN - based on the answer print?

This is all so intriguing…

<span style=“line-height: 14.4px;”>metall_havy sent me 2 copies of Terminator 2 sourced from 35mm. You can tell because they are 35mm source since they have lines, damage and reel changes. One copy has parts that matches up best with the BD. The other better matches with my test regrade. And both have parts that don’t match up with either.</span><span style=“line-height: 14.4px;”>If fact one of my questions has been the amount of purple in the film and both have it in spades but in different places. And there is various levels of green and levels of orange especially for the desert.</span>

<span style=“line-height: 14.4px;”>Here is an example of the hallway battle.</span>

<span style=“line-height: 14.4px;”>BD/Regrade/35mm Video 1/35mm Video 2/Super 8mm</span>

<span style=“line-height: 14.4px;”></span>

<span style=“line-height: 14.4px;”>This is all so confusing…</span><span style=“color: #333333; font-family: Tahoma, Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 13.0667px;”>

Since I own both the Skynet Blu (for the three cuts and extras) and the Van Ling No DNR 2015 Blu, it appears PDB’s color timing would be what I’d want.

I’m using the 2015 BD as a base. Who knows if I’m right, just trying to figure out what T2 looks like without having a 35mm print. And Team Blu’s version of Terminator were very nice.

I prefer the colour timing of the 8mm release as it’s got that rich old photochemical vibe and grain structure; an overall organic and gorgeous palette. And I don’t mind the purple at all.

So weird, I’d have assumed all Eastman prints were LPP by 1984.

I had a unique chance to see a 70mm magnetic print this past year. To my eyes, the image looked a lot like the THX laserdisc in terms of color to my eyes, but it was free of any digital enhancement and grain reduction. It looked like a 1990s film, which is to say, great.

The magnetic sound mix was a revelation. I’ve never heard the movie sound so good. The AC3 LaserDisc/DVD is a pretty good representation of that, but there is such a unique quality to mag that it’s really impossible to compare the two.

Either way, it definitely proved to me that the Blu-ray, in any iteration, is a joke.

“Alright twinkle-toes, what’s your exit strategy?”
