Ah okay. I can imagine what that would look like. So, it's a giant lenticular of the image of the face coming out of a wall (you know what I mean anyway). That would be a cool poster to own .

Hello everybody! I'm back!

And, of course, there is news. I have recieved the laserdisc set and, I've gotta tell ya, it looks wonderful. Maybe a smudge or two on the discs, but no scratches or disc rot and the case/liner notes are in fiiiiiine condition. I will get on scanning these tonight and will post here with further developments.

From here, they go to Karyudo to capture the sound, then to MeBe for the actual video encoding.

A lot of people have asked for the scans and what I'd like to do is borrow some webspace to post them on. Don't know how big the files are yet, but they'll be 12"x12" 300dpi scans for the most part, so pretty big. Any takers?

have you scanned them yet? Because I was told once that you should scan at 600dpi. Then after the image has been scanned, to change the dpi to 300. That way it's slightly better than scanning them in at 300dpi. Also, are you scanning directly to jpg? Or will you scan to .bmp/.tiff? In any case, couldn't you get someone to upload a torrent of the scans? Although... that's probably not best (copyright stuff). Sorry but I can't offer webspace. But I can suggest sharing systems like YSI or similar.

What are we looking at here, around half a dozen 2 meg JPEGs?

I've never heard this, but I'm not unwilling to do it this way, it'll just take a bit longer. All of the images are scanned BMP, and when I save them (using Photoshop), I use the highest quality, which makes for hefty file sizes. I'm not sure how well a torrent would work with me, my upload speed with torrents is absolutely terrible for whatever reason.

It'll be 8 JPEGS, a lot bigger than 2megs apiece.

Okay, I've run into a snag, and it's a really annoying snag. It turns out my scanner is a bigger piece of garbage than I had originally suspected. I knew that it wasn't big enough to scan this stuff all at once, but I thought I could scan the different pages in parts and then just put it all together. Well, the proportions are wrong and I don't have the time to really work on this stuff before I leave for yet another trip on Thursday morning, from which I return next Tuesday.

Kary or MeBe: Got a scanner with an approx 14"x14" bed?

No, but you should be able to fix it in Photoshop.

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

Yes, but like I said, I don't have the time before I leave. Perhaps this project will just be delayed for the few days until I get back... again, and I can send the raw Photoshop files to someone who knows what the hell they're doing in Photoshop.

Almost nobody does! I'm not sure whether nobody has one because they're super-expensive, or they're super-expensive because nobody has one.

I do have a decent scanner, though, and some expertise with Photoshop. So when the discs make their way here, I'll take a shot at scanning the cover. If my results suck, then there's always MBJ to come...

That sounds good to me, but I will try to send the raw Photoshop file of what I already scanned to those who asked. Honestly, I think I'm only having trouble because of my scanner, which I've learned is a pretty big piece of garbage. (Well, not big enough in this case, seemingly.)

With all the scans that ReverendBeastly has to email out there should be a flood of covers within a week.

Possibly. The only thing I'm sending out today is the front cover because that's all I had time to scan. I will do the rest upon my return from New York City.

EDIT: The one raw thing that I have seems to be 222MB because I scanned it at 450dpi and saved it as a Photoshop doc, with multiple layers for the different sections of the scan. I'm sorry guys, this isn't something I have time for at the moment. I'll post with my progress when it occurs.

Oh, in that case don't mail me... it's a little bigger than I thought. Plus, I already have a scan of the front (at least the poster part).

I am waiting for a complete set of scans, preferrably a little more compressed (but still as hires as possible).

I have had this on DVD for some time now. It was on some bittorrent site a while back, but the quality is like a low-grade vhs. Plus the documentary was split between disc one and two. I made a cover and disc labels for it if anyone is interested.

Hey slashface,

Yeah, definitely post the cover and labels. I know others will be working on some...and variety is good!

I just sent off the set to Karyudo so he can digitally extract the audio and provide a better scan than me. After that, he'll send it to to MeBeJedi for the video encoding.

Ya the thing is... It's doubtfull that they'll put the whole 4 1/2 hour documentary on the special edition DVD set and that's a big selling point for the fans on this LD version.
