Info: Successfully added subtitles to the EditDroid ANH!

It took me forever to figure out how and what to do to do this as well as keep the multi-angle feature (selectable crawls) and the menu in place, but I finally accomplished it! I don’t know how to or have a program that allows me to make multi-angles. What I finally ended up doing is using Musclesoft DVTool to cut the angled portion off of the original vob. Very cool that there is no dialouge in this part so no subtiling needed here. I demuxed the audio (only one angle), video and original Greedo EditDroid subtitles.

Then I used the isomix fixed subtitles I downloaded (after watching, well mostly listening, actually to the movie many times and adding, changing lines so that they made a perfect match to what was being said) added back in the Greedo subs to the main subs. I also redid Greedo-only subs in a font to match the ISOMIX subs for Empire and Jedi. (I would have just gotten the ISOMIX ANH, but I wanted selectable crawls and I like EditDroid’s menus and special features better.)

Then I used SpruceUp to create one chapter point at the exact point where I cut the original VOB. I created the project (though SpruceUp doesn’t allow multiple audio or any subtitles so I wasn’t done yet) so I could get a cell time for the cut. I used pgcdemux to rip only the celltimes.txt. Then I used muxman with the complete one angle video, 2 audios, and 2 subtitles, along with my celltimes.txt with the one chapter point. When that was done I again used PGC to strip it, this time stripping only the second cell. I used DVDsubedit to reposition and check the subtitles.

Then I remuxed everything (again!) and renamed the resulting vobs VTS_01_1.VOB thru VTS_01_5.VOB to VTS_01_2.VOB thru VTS_01_6.VOB. I pasted them and my 133mb VTS_01_1.VOB (the multi-angle crawls) into the folder with the original menus. I also replaced the trailer (which I already have on the official DVD) with rowman’s post-Academy Awards trailer. I used the same ifo file from the original so that the angles would work properly. I used ifoedit to fix the VTS sectors and add in values for the new subtitles. I was finally done!

The end result is the EditDroid ANH, but now with added features:

Alternate trailer (menu still refers to just trailer).
Non-removable Greedo subtitles in white AlternateGothic2 font (removable only if you select the other subtitles).
Full subtitles in white Arial Narrow font (Greedo in yellow) (selectable only with subtitle button on remote).
all of the original menus and features still work:
scene selection
optional isolated score
Ralph McQuarrie gallery
DVD-Rom features (mine also has the Blak019 Holiday Special wallpapers folder and PDF script as they wouldn’t fit on my modifed Holiday Special disc, with it’s added Conan O’Brien clip and more)
Jacket_p pictures

To complete this set I am simply going to make the ISOMIX Empire and Jedi with subs fit into the EditDroid menus, with Jacket_p and DVD-Rom features for both. All of the subtitles in this new set will now only be able to be selected via “subtitle” button. I just thought that if ever choose to watch the films with the isolated scores, it would be better if I could at least read what was going on.

Oh yeah- all of the subtitles appear in the black bar at the bottom, off of the picture. There are some subtitles in the full ANH subs that have three lines. For these only, the first line appears over the video.

I only have a 2X burner, but if anyone wants this set, which for me will be Disc 2’s to go with my 2004 DVDs, I can send one person a copy and they can distribute. I don’t have enough HD space to do the torrent thing either. It was really hard doing this project, after every step I had to delete the previous files.

This sounds great and is certainly a great addition to one of my favourite (NTSC) versions of ANH.

Unless you get a better offer from an uploader or someone nearer to you (I am in the UK), I could start a PiF chain for you.

Damn what a bunch of work! One piece of advise: rip the subtitles from the official DVD, and use those. Very few corrections are needed, sync it and you're practically done. I have always found it awkward ISOMIX has three lines of subs, that just isn't right. Good you kept them in the black bar though, that's where the official DVD's go wrong.

That's no moon. It's a LaserDisc.

Actually, I think the ones I used were from the official DVD, modified to go with the isomix. They synced right up with the editdroid version as well. I think they are as complete as they are ever gonna be. I left out things like sound effects, artoo's beeps and chewie's growls. Russs15, I just may take you up on that. Thanks for the compliments, guys. Here are the subs I used:

(the numbering is off because of where I inserted the Greedo lines. It didn't matter to subtitle creator though. There are 1114 lines.

1
00:02:49,800 --> 00:02:50,600
Did you hear that?

2
00:02:51,600 --> 00:02:56,200
They shut down the main reactor.
We'll be destroyed for sure. This is madness.

3
00:03:06,800 --> 00:03:07,600
We're doomed.

4
00:03:10,200 --> 00:03:12,600
There'll be no escape for the princess this time.

5
00:03:15,200 --> 00:03:16,800
What's that?

6
00:04:59,400 --> 00:05:02,200
R2-D2, where are you?

7
00:05:18,400 --> 00:05:20,400
At last.
Where have you been?

8
00:05:21,000 --> 00:05:23,800
They're heading in this direction.
What are we going to do?

9
00:05:24,000 --> 00:05:27,400
We'll be sent to the spice mines of Kessel,
or smashed into who knows what.

10
00:05:29,000 --> 00:05:31,000
Wait a minute.
Where are you going?

11
00:05:43,800 --> 00:05:46,600
The Death Star plans
are <i>not</i> in the main computer.

12
00:05:47,000 --> 00:05:52,200
Where are those transmissions you intercepted?
What have you done with those plans?

13
00:05:52,600 --> 00:05:54,600
We intercepted no transmissions.

14
00:05:55,000 --> 00:05:59,200
This is a consular ship.
We're on a diplomatic mission.

15
00:05:59,600 --> 00:06:03,400
If this is a consular ship,
where is the ambassador?

16
00:06:07,400 --> 00:06:10,800
Commander, tear this ship apart
until you've found those plans!

17
00:06:11,000 --> 00:06:13,600
And bring me the passengers!
I want them alive!

18
00:06:26,400 --> 00:06:28,400
- There's one.
- Set for stun.

19
00:06:34,000 --> 00:06:37,000
She'll be all right.
Inform Lord Vader we have a prisoner.

20
00:06:39,000 --> 00:06:41,200
Hey. You're not permitted in there.
It's restricted.

21
00:06:41,800 --> 00:06:43,200
You'll be deactivated for sure.

22
00:06:45,400 --> 00:06:48,200
Don't you call me a mindless philosopher,
you overweight glob of grease.

23
00:06:48,300 --> 00:06:50,000
Now come out,
before somebody sees you.

24
00:06:52,000 --> 00:06:57,000
Secret mission? What plans? What are you
talking about? I'm not getting in there.

25
00:06:57,800 --> 00:06:59,000
Oh, no!

26
00:07:00,400 --> 00:07:02,800
I'm going to regret this.

27
00:07:09,400 --> 00:07:10,400
There goes another one.

28
00:07:10,600 --> 00:07:14,600
Hold your fire. There's no life-forms.
It must have short-circuited.

29
00:07:15,000 --> 00:07:18,000
That's funny. The damage
doesn't look as bad from out here.

30
00:07:20,000 --> 00:07:22,200
Are you sure this thing is safe?
Oh.

31
00:07:41,200 --> 00:07:44,000
Darth Vader.
Only you could be so bold.

32
00:07:44,400 --> 00:07:47,600
The Imperial Senate will not sit still for this.
When they hear you've attacked a diplomatic...

33
00:07:47,700 --> 00:07:52,000
Don't act so surprised, Your Highness.
You weren't on any mercy mission this time.

34
00:07:52,200 --> 00:07:55,800
Several transmissions were beamed
to this ship by Rebel spies.

35
00:07:56,000 --> 00:07:59,000
I want to know what happened
to the plans they sent you.

36
00:07:59,200 --> 00:08:04,400
I don't know what you're talking about.
I'm a member of the Imperial Senate
on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan.

37
00:08:04,600 --> 00:08:08,800
You are part of the Rebel Alliance and a traitor.
Take her away!

38
00:08:13,200 --> 00:08:18,400
Holding her is dangerous. If word of this gets out, it could
generate sympathy for the Rebellion in the Senate.

39
00:08:18,500 --> 00:08:23,800
I have traced the Rebel spies to her.
Now she is my only link to finding their secret base.

40
00:08:24,000 --> 00:08:27,200
- She'll die before she'll tell you anything.
- Leave that to me.

41
00:08:27,400 --> 00:08:31,000
Send a distress signal, and then inform
the senate that all aboard were killed.

42
00:08:31,200 --> 00:08:36,200
Lord Vader, the battle station plans are not aboard
this ship and no transmissions were made.

43
00:08:36,400 --> 00:08:40,600
An escape pod was jettisoned during the
fighting, but no life-forms were aboard.

44
00:08:40,800 --> 00:08:43,200
She must have hidden
the plans in the escape pod.

45
00:08:43,300 --> 00:08:47,000
Send a detachment down to retrieve them.
See to it personally, Commander.

46
00:08:47,100 --> 00:08:49,000
There'll be no one
to stop us this time.

47
00:08:49,200 --> 00:08:50,000
Yes, sir.

48
00:09:05,400 --> 00:09:10,400
How did we get into this mess?
I really don't know how.

49
00:09:10,600 --> 00:09:14,400
We seem to be made to suffer.
It's our lot in life.

50
00:09:16,400 --> 00:09:20,400
I've got to rest before I fall apart.
My joints are almost frozen.

51
00:09:27,000 --> 00:09:29,800
What a desolate place this is.

52
00:09:33,800 --> 00:09:37,000
Where do you think you're going?
Well, I'm not going that way.

53
00:09:37,400 --> 00:09:41,400
It's much too rocky.
This way is much easier.

54
00:09:41,800 --> 00:09:44,200
What makes you think
there are settlements over there?

55
00:09:46,200 --> 00:09:48,200
Don't get technical with me.

56
00:09:48,800 --> 00:09:51,000
What mission?
What are you talking about?

57
00:09:53,200 --> 00:09:55,600
I've just about had enough of you.

58
00:09:56,200 --> 00:10:00,600
Go that way. You'll be malfunctioning
within a day, you nearsighted scrap pile.

59
00:10:01,200 --> 00:10:05,600
And don't let me catch you following me,
begging for help, because you won't get it.

60
00:10:19,200 --> 00:10:22,800
No more adventures.
I'm not going that way.

61
00:10:57,000 --> 00:11:00,200
That malfunctioning little twerp.
This is all his fault.

62
00:11:01,000 --> 00:11:05,000
He tricked me into going this way...
but he'll do no better.

63
00:11:08,600 --> 00:11:13,000
Wait. What's that?
A transport. I'm saved.

64
00:11:13,400 --> 00:11:15,400
Over here!

65
00:11:15,600 --> 00:11:22,200
Hey! Hey! Help! Please help!

66
00:14:51,600 --> 00:14:53,200
R2?

67
00:14:56,200 --> 00:15:00,600
R2-D2, it is you! It is you!

68
00:15:17,800 --> 00:15:21,600
Someone was in the pod.
The tracks go off in this direction.

69
00:15:22,000 --> 00:15:23,400
Look, sir. Droids.

70
00:15:35,800 --> 00:15:37,800
Wake up. Wake up!

71
00:15:44,400 --> 00:15:45,800
We're doomed.

72
00:15:54,400 --> 00:15:56,200
Do you think
they'll melt us down?

73
00:16:09,400 --> 00:16:13,200
Don't shoot. Don't shoot.
Will this never end?

74
00:16:53,200 --> 00:16:58,400
All right, fine. Let's go.
- Luke? Luke!

75
00:17:01,000 --> 00:17:06,000
Luke, tell Uncle if he gets
a translator, be sure it speaks Bocce.

76
00:17:06,100 --> 00:17:09,000
Doesn't look like we have much of a choice,
but I'll remind him.

77
00:17:19,400 --> 00:17:23,200
Yeah, we'll take that red one.
No, not that one.

78
00:17:25,600 --> 00:17:28,800
You! I suppose you're programmed
for etiquette and protocol.

79
00:17:28,900 --> 00:17:33,000
Protocol? Why it's my primary function, sir.
I am well-versed in all the customs...

80
00:17:33,200 --> 00:17:34,400
I have no need for a protocol droid.

81
00:17:34,500 --> 00:17:37,800
Of course you haven't, sir.
Not in an environment such as this.

82
00:17:37,900 --> 00:17:39,000
That's why I have been programmed...

83
00:17:39,100 --> 00:17:43,000
What I really need is a droid who understands
the binary language of moisture vaporators.

84
00:17:43,200 --> 00:17:48,800
Vaporators? Sir, my first job was programming
binary load lifters. Very similar to your vaporators
in most respects.

85
00:17:48,900 --> 00:17:50,000
Can you speak Bocce?

86
00:17:50,100 --> 00:17:53,500
Of course I can, sir. It's like a second language
to me. . I'm as fluent in...

87
00:17:53,600 --> 00:17:55,400
- All right. Shut up. I'll take this one.
- Shutting up, sir.

88
00:17:55,500 --> 00:17:56,600
Luke!

89
00:17:58,400 --> 00:18:01,000
Take these two over to the garage, will you?
I want them cleaned up before dinner.

90
00:18:01,100 --> 00:18:04,000
But I was going into Tosche Station
to pick up some power converters.

91
00:18:04,200 --> 00:18:08,600
You can waste time with your friends
when your chores are done.
Come on, get to it.

92
00:18:10,200 --> 00:18:12,000
All right. Come on.

93
00:18:13,600 --> 00:18:15,600
And the red one.
Come on.

94
00:18:17,200 --> 00:18:19,000
Well, come on, red. Let's go.

95
00:18:38,800 --> 00:18:41,200
- Uncle Owen.
- Yeah?

96
00:18:41,300 --> 00:18:43,800
This R2 unit has
a bad motivator. Look.

97
00:18:44,000 --> 00:18:45,800
Hey, what are you
trying to push on us?

98
00:18:49,200 --> 00:18:54,000
Excuse me, sir, but that R2 unit
is in prime condition, a real bargain.

99
00:18:54,200 --> 00:18:55,000
- Uncle Owen,
- Yeah?

100
00:18:55,100 --> 00:18:56,600
What about that one?

101
00:18:56,800 --> 00:18:58,600
What about that blue one?
We'll take that one.

102
00:19:00,400 --> 00:19:01,600
Yeah. Take this away.

103
00:19:01,700 --> 00:19:04,600
Im quite sure you'll be pleased with that one, sir.
He really is in first-class condition.

104
00:19:04,800 --> 00:19:06,400
I've worked with him before.

105
00:19:06,600 --> 00:19:07,400
Here he comes.

106
00:19:11,200 --> 00:19:12,800
Okay, let's go.

107
00:19:13,000 --> 00:19:17,800
Now, don't you forget this. Why I
should stick my neck out for you
is quite beyond my capacity.

108
00:19:24,600 --> 00:19:28,600
Thank the maker.
This oil bath is going to feel so good.

109
00:19:29,400 --> 00:19:32,800
I've got such a bad case of dust
contamination I can barely move.

110
00:19:33,000 --> 00:19:37,400
It just isn't fair. Oh, Biggs is right.
I'm never gonna get out of here.

111
00:19:38,200 --> 00:19:39,800
Is there anything
I might do to help?

112
00:19:40,000 --> 00:19:45,400
No, not unless you can alter time,
speed up the harvest,
or teleport me off this rock.

113
00:19:45,500 --> 00:19:50,000
I don't think so, sir. I'm only a droid and not
very knowledgeable about such things.

114
00:19:50,100 --> 00:19:55,400
Not on this planet, anyway. As a matter of
fact, I'm not even sure which planet I'm on.

115
00:19:55,500 --> 00:20:00,200
Well, if there's a bright center to the universe...
you're on the planet that it's farthest from.

116
00:20:00,300 --> 00:20:01,600
I see, sir.

117
00:20:01,700 --> 00:20:03,600
Well, you can call me Luke.

118
00:20:03,700 --> 00:20:05,200
I see, sir Luke.

119
00:20:06,400 --> 00:20:08,600
- Ha, ha. No, Just Luke.
- Oh...

120
00:20:08,700 --> 00:20:14,200
And I am C-3PO, human-cyborg relations
and this is my counterpart R2-D2.

121
00:20:14,300 --> 00:20:15,200
Hello.

122
00:20:17,400 --> 00:20:21,000
You got a lot of carbon scoring here.
Looks like you boys have seen a lot of action.

123
00:20:21,200 --> 00:20:24,400
With all we've been through, sometimes I'm
amazed we're in as good condition as we are...

124
00:20:24,500 --> 00:20:26,200
what with the Rebellion and all.

125
00:20:26,300 --> 00:20:28,400
You know of the Rebellion
against the Empire?

126
00:20:28,500 --> 00:20:30,800
That's how we came to be in your
service, if you take my meaning, sir.

127
00:20:31,800 --> 00:20:34,200
- Have you been in many battles?
- Several, I think.

128
00:20:34,235 --> 00:20:36,200
Actually, there's not much to tell.

129
00:20:36,400 --> 00:20:40,000
I'm not much more than an interpreter
and not very good at telling stories.

130
00:20:40,100 --> 00:20:42,200
Well, not at making them
interesting, anyway.

131
00:20:43,200 --> 00:20:47,600
Well, my little friend...
you got something jammed in here real good.

132
00:20:47,700 --> 00:20:49,200
Were you on a Starcruiser or...

133
00:20:49,600 --> 00:20:52,800
Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
You're my only hope.

134
00:20:52,900 --> 00:20:54,200
What's this?

135
00:20:54,600 --> 00:20:57,800
"What is what?"
He asked you a question. What is that?

136
00:20:57,900 --> 00:21:03,000
Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
You're my only hope.

137
00:21:05,200 --> 00:21:09,200
Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
You're my only hope.

138
00:21:11,300 --> 00:21:15,600
Oh, he says it's nothing, sir, merely a
malfunction. Old data. Pay it no mind.

139
00:21:15,800 --> 00:21:18,400
Who is she?
She's beautiful.

140
00:21:18,500 --> 00:21:21,400
I'm afraid I'm not quite sure, sir.
- Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi...

141
00:21:21,600 --> 00:21:25,800
I think she was a passenger on our last voyage.
A person of some importance, as I believe.

142
00:21:26,000 --> 00:21:27,400
Our captain was attached to...

143
00:21:27,500 --> 00:21:29,600
Is there any more to this recording?

144
00:21:30,600 --> 00:21:33,800
Behave yourself, R2.
You're going to get us into trouble.

145
00:21:33,900 --> 00:21:36,600
It's all right. You can trust him.
He's our new master.

146
00:21:36,700 --> 00:21:38,200
You're my only hope.

147
00:21:39,800 --> 00:21:44,165
He says that he's the property of Obi-Wan
Kenobi, a resident of these parts...

148
00:21:44,200 --> 00:21:48,600
and it's a private message for him. Quite
frankly sir, I don't know what he's talking about.

149
00:21:49,200 --> 00:21:51,800
Our last master was Captain Antilles.
But with all we've been through,

150
00:21:51,835 --> 00:21:54,600
this little R2 unit has become a bit eccentric.

151
00:21:55,800 --> 00:21:58,765
Obi-Wan Kenobi.
I wonder if he means old Ben Kenobi.

152
00:21:58,800 --> 00:22:01,400
I beg your pardon, sir, but do you
know what he's talking about?

153
00:22:01,435 --> 00:22:04,200
Well, I don't know anyone
named Obi-Wan, but...

154
00:22:04,600 --> 00:22:09,000
Old Ben lives out beyond the Dune Sea.
He's kind of a strange old hermit.

155
00:22:10,000 --> 00:22:11,800
- Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope.
- I wonder who she is.

156
00:22:12,000 --> 00:22:14,800
It sounds like she's in trouble.
I better play back the whole thing.

157
00:22:18,600 --> 00:22:22,365
He says the restraining bolt has
short-circuited his recording system.

158
00:22:22,400 --> 00:22:27,200
He suggests that if you remove the bolt he might
be able to play back the entire recording.

159
00:22:27,235 --> 00:22:34,000
Hmm. Oh, yeah. Well... I guess you're, uh, too
small to run away on me if I take this off.

160
00:22:34,035 --> 00:22:35,600
Okay.

161
00:22:37,400 --> 00:22:38,600
There you go.

162
00:22:40,800 --> 00:22:44,000
Wait a minute, where'd she go? Bring her back.
Play back the entire message.

163
00:22:44,400 --> 00:22:50,200
"What message?" The one you've just been playing.
The one you're carrying inside your rusty innards.

164
00:22:50,235 --> 00:22:52,165
Luke! Luke!

165
00:22:52,200 --> 00:22:54,200
All right. I'll be right there, Aunt Beru.

166
00:22:54,600 --> 00:22:58,000
I'm sorry, sir, but he appears to have
picked up a slight flutter.

167
00:22:58,035 --> 00:23:01,600
Here. See what you can do with him.
I'll be right back.

168
00:23:04,000 --> 00:23:07,200
Just you reconsider
playing that message for him.

169
00:23:07,800 --> 00:23:09,800
No, I don't think
he likes you at all.

170
00:23:10,400 --> 00:23:13,000
No, I don't like you either.

171
00:23:21,600 --> 00:23:24,000
You know, I think that R2 unit we bought
might have been stolen.

172
00:23:24,400 --> 00:23:25,600
What makes you think that?

173
00:23:25,800 --> 00:23:28,600
Well, I stumbled across a recording
while I was cleaning him.

174
00:23:28,800 --> 00:23:31,200
He says he belongs to someone
called Obi-Wan Kenobi.

175
00:23:33,600 --> 00:23:35,400
I thought he might have meant old Ben.

176
00:23:35,600 --> 00:23:39,000
Do you know what he's talking about?
- Mm-mm.

177
00:23:39,400 --> 00:23:43,800
- Well, I wonder if he's related to Ben.
- That wizard's just a crazy old man.

178
00:23:44,600 --> 00:23:48,200
Tomorrow, I want you to take that R2 unit to
Anchorhead and have its memory erased.

179
00:23:48,235 --> 00:23:51,000
That'll be the end of it.
It belongs to us now.

180
00:23:52,200 --> 00:23:56,200
- But what if this... Obi-Wan comes looking for him?
- He won't.

181
00:23:57,200 --> 00:24:01,200
I don't think he exists anymore. He died
about the same time as your father.

182
00:24:01,400 --> 00:24:02,800
He knew my father?

183
00:24:03,200 --> 00:24:04,600
I told you to forget it.

184
00:24:05,200 --> 00:24:08,600
Your only concern is to prepare
those new droids for tomorrow.

185
00:24:08,800 --> 00:24:12,400
In the morning, I want them up there on the
south ridge working on those condensers.

186
00:24:12,800 --> 00:24:14,000
Yes, sir.

187
00:24:15,600 --> 00:24:18,000
I think those new droids
are gonna work out fine.

188
00:24:18,035 --> 00:24:19,800
In fact, I, uh, also thinking about our agreement.

189
00:24:20,000 --> 00:24:24,000
About me staying on another season.

190
00:24:25,800 --> 00:24:29,800
And if these new droids do work out, I want to
transmit my application to the academy this year.

191
00:24:30,400 --> 00:24:34,400
- You mean the next semester, before the harvest?
- Sure. There's more than enough droids.

192
00:24:34,435 --> 00:24:38,400
Harvest is when I need you the most.
Only one season more.

193
00:24:38,600 --> 00:24:42,000
This year we'll make enough on the harvest
that I'll be able to hire some more hands...

194
00:24:42,200 --> 00:24:44,400
and then, you can go
to the academy next year.

195
00:24:44,800 --> 00:24:48,200
You must understand I need you here, Luke.
- But it's a whole 'nother year.

196
00:24:48,800 --> 00:24:51,800
- Look, It's only one more season. - Yeah,
that's what you said when Biggs and Tank left.

197
00:24:52,000 --> 00:24:53,365
Where are you going?

198
00:24:53,400 --> 00:24:56,200
Looks like I'm going nowhere.
I have to go finish cleaning those droids.

199
00:24:56,400 --> 00:25:00,200
Owen, he can't stay here forever.
Most of his friends have gone.

200
00:25:00,600 --> 00:25:02,200
It means so much to him.

201
00:25:02,400 --> 00:25:05,400
I'll make it up to him next year.
I promise.

202
00:25:07,200 --> 00:25:10,800
Luke's just not a farmer, Owen.
He has too much of his father in him.

203
00:25:11,200 --> 00:25:12,800
That's what I'm afraid of.

204
00:26:02,400 --> 00:26:04,000
- Ooh!
- What are you doing hiding back there?

205
00:26:04,200 --> 00:26:07,000
It wasn't my fault, sir.
Please don't deactivate me.

206
00:26:07,400 --> 00:26:09,800
I told him not to go,
but he's faulty, malfunctioning.

207
00:26:10,400 --> 00:26:11,800
Kept babbling on about his mission.

208
00:26:12,200 --> 00:26:13,600
Oh, no.

209
00:26:22,000 --> 00:26:24,600
That R2 unit has
always been a problem.

210
00:26:24,800 --> 00:26:29,000
These astrodroids are getting quite out of hand.
Even I can't understand their logic at times.

211
00:26:29,600 --> 00:26:33,000
How could I be so stupid?
He's nowhere in sight.

212
00:26:33,200 --> 00:26:35,600
- Blast it!
- Pardon me, sir, but couldn't we go after him?

213
00:26:36,000 --> 00:26:38,200
It's too dangerous with all the Sand People
around. We'll have to wait until morning.

214
00:26:39,200 --> 00:26:43,400
- Luke, I'm shutting the power down.
- All right, I'll be there in a few minutes.

215
00:26:44,000 --> 00:26:45,600
Boy, am I gonna get it.

216
00:26:46,400 --> 00:26:48,200
Y'know, that little droid's
gonna cause me a lot of trouble.

217
00:26:48,600 --> 00:26:50,800
Oh, he excels at that, sir.

218
00:27:01,000 --> 00:27:07,400
Luke? Luke! Luke!

219
00:27:13,400 --> 00:27:15,000
Have you seen Luke this morning?

220
00:27:15,200 --> 00:27:18,600
He said he had some things to do before
he started today, so he left early.

221
00:27:18,635 --> 00:27:22,000
- Hmm. Did he take those two new droids with him?
- I think so.

222
00:27:22,600 --> 00:27:27,000
Well, he better have those units in the
south range, repaired by midday,
or there'll be hell to pay.

223
00:27:28,200 --> 00:27:30,400
Lookit, there's a droid on the scanner.
Dead ahead.

224
00:27:30,600 --> 00:27:33,400
It might be our little R2 unit.
Hit the accelerator.

225
00:27:56,200 --> 00:27:58,200
Hey, whoa, just where do you think you're going?

226
00:27:59,200 --> 00:28:01,165
Master Luke is your
rightful owner now.

227
00:28:01,200 --> 00:28:04,200
We'll have no more of this
Obi-Wan Kenobi gibberish.

228
00:28:05,000 --> 00:28:07,400
And don't talk to me of your mission, either.

229
00:28:07,600 --> 00:28:09,800
You're fortunate he doesn't blast you
into a million pieces right here.

230
00:28:10,400 --> 00:28:12,800
No. It's all right,
but I think we'd better go.

231
00:28:13,800 --> 00:28:15,000
What's wrong with him now?

232
00:28:15,600 --> 00:28:18,200
There are several creatures
approaching from the southeast.

233
00:28:18,800 --> 00:28:20,600
Sand People. Or worse.

234
00:28:22,800 --> 00:28:25,200
Come on. Let's go have a look.
Come on.

235
00:28:28,200 --> 00:28:33,200
Well, there are two Banthas down there,
but I don't see any... wait a second.

236
00:28:34,000 --> 00:28:36,200
They're Sand People all right.
I can see one of them now.

237
00:29:51,400 --> 00:29:52,600
Hello there.

238
00:29:55,200 --> 00:29:58,600
Come here, my little friend.
Don't be afraid.

239
00:30:01,000 --> 00:30:03,200
Oh, don't worry.
He'll be all right.

240
00:30:08,800 --> 00:30:12,000
Rest easy, son.
You've had a busy day.

241
00:30:12,035 --> 00:30:15,200
You're fortunate
to be all in one piece.

242
00:30:18,400 --> 00:30:20,800
Ben? Ben Kenobi?

243
00:30:21,000 --> 00:30:22,800
Boy, am I glad to see you.

244
00:30:23,000 --> 00:30:26,200
The Jundland Wastes
are not to be traveled lightly.

245
00:30:29,000 --> 00:30:32,600
Tell me, young Luke,
what brings you out this far?

246
00:30:32,635 --> 00:30:35,000
This little droid.

247
00:30:36,800 --> 00:30:41,200
I think he's searching for his former master, but
I've never seen such devotion in a droid before.

248
00:30:42,400 --> 00:30:45,800
Ah, He claims to be the
property of an Obi-Wan Kenobi.

249
00:30:46,000 --> 00:30:48,400
Is he a relative of yours?
Do you know who he's talking about?

250
00:30:50,200 --> 00:30:53,000
Obi-Wan Kenobi?

251
00:30:54,000 --> 00:30:55,600
Obi-Wan.

252
00:30:56,600 --> 00:31:03,400
Now, that's a name I've not heard in a long time.
A long time.

253
00:31:04,200 --> 00:31:07,400
I think my uncle knows him.
He said he was dead.

254
00:31:07,600 --> 00:31:10,600
Oh, he's not dead.
Not yet.

255
00:31:11,000 --> 00:31:15,400
You know him?
- Well, of course I know him. He's me.

256
00:31:17,800 --> 00:31:23,600
I haven't gone by the name of Obi-Wan
since, oh, before you were born.

257
00:31:23,800 --> 00:31:25,765
Well then, the droid does belong to you.

258
00:31:25,800 --> 00:31:29,200
I don't seem to remember
ever owning a droid.

259
00:31:30,400 --> 00:31:32,400
Very interesting.

260
00:31:33,400 --> 00:31:35,800
I think we better get indoors.

261
00:31:36,200 --> 00:31:41,800
The Sand People are easily startled. .
but they'll soon be back,
and in greater numbers.

262
00:31:44,600 --> 00:31:46,000
Threepio.

263
00:31:55,400 --> 00:31:58,400
Where am I?
I must have taken a bad step.

264
00:32:00,000 --> 00:32:02,600
Can you stand? We've gotta get out
of here before the Sand People return.

265
00:32:02,800 --> 00:32:05,565
I don't think I can make it.
You go on, Master Luke.

266
00:32:05,600 --> 00:32:09,600
There's no sense in you risking
yourself on my account. I'm done for.

267
00:32:11,200 --> 00:32:14,400
- No, you're not. What kind of talk is that?
- Quickly. They're on the move.

268
00:32:20,000 --> 00:32:23,200
No, My father didn't fight in the wars.
He was a navigator on a spice freighter.

269
00:32:23,400 --> 00:32:25,400
That's what your uncle told you.

270
00:32:25,600 --> 00:32:30,400
He didn't hold with your father's ideals;
thought he should have stayed here
and not gotten involved.

271
00:32:31,200 --> 00:32:32,600
You fought in the Clone Wars?

272
00:32:32,800 --> 00:32:36,800
Yes, I was once a Jedi Knight,
the same as your father.

273
00:32:40,000 --> 00:32:45,200
- I wish I'd known him.
- He was the best starpilot in the galaxy...

274
00:32:45,400 --> 00:32:46,965
and a cunning warrior.

275
00:32:47,000 --> 00:32:50,000
I understand you've become
quite a good pilot yourself.

276
00:32:52,000 --> 00:32:54,200
And he was a good friend.

277
00:32:55,000 --> 00:32:59,200
Which reminds me...
I have something here for you.

278
00:33:01,400 --> 00:33:06,800
Your father wanted you to have this
when you were old enough,
but your uncle wouldn't allow it.

279
00:33:07,400 --> 00:33:13,400
He feared you might follow old Obi-Wan on
some damn-fool idealistic crusade,
like your father did.

280
00:33:13,600 --> 00:33:17,400
- Sir, if you'll not be needing me,
I'll close down for a while.
- Sure, Go ahead.

281
00:33:20,400 --> 00:33:21,200
What is it?

282
00:33:21,600 --> 00:33:26,800
It's your father's lightsaber.
This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight.

283
00:33:27,400 --> 00:33:30,400
Not as clumsy or random
as a blaster.

284
00:33:31,200 --> 00:33:37,000
An elegant weapon, for a more civilized
age. For over a thousand generations...

285
00:33:38,200 --> 00:33:44,800
the Jedi Knights were the guardians of
peace and justice in the old Republic...

286
00:33:45,600 --> 00:33:49,800
Before the dark times.
Before the Empire.

287
00:33:52,600 --> 00:33:54,800
How did my father die?

288
00:33:56,600 --> 00:34:02,400
A young Jedi named Darth Vader,
who was a pupil of mine until he turned to evil...

289
00:34:02,800 --> 00:34:06,800
helped the Empire hunt down
and destroy the Jedi Knights.

290
00:34:07,800 --> 00:34:11,200
He betrayed and murdered your father.

291
00:34:12,000 --> 00:34:14,800
Now the Jedi are all but extinct.

292
00:34:15,600 --> 00:34:19,800
Vader was seduced
by the dark side of the Force.

293
00:34:20,200 --> 00:34:21,600
The Force?

294
00:34:22,400 --> 00:34:25,200
The Force is what gives a Jedi his
power. It's an energy field created...

295
00:34:25,600 --> 00:34:33,400
by all living things. It surrounds us and
penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.

296
00:34:40,000 --> 00:34:43,200
Now let's see if we can't figure out
what you are, my little friend...

297
00:34:43,600 --> 00:34:45,600
and where you come from.

298
00:34:46,000 --> 00:34:48,800
- I saw part of a message...
- I seem to have found it.

299
00:34:49,200 --> 00:34:53,400
General Kenobi, years ago you served
my father in the Clone Wars.

300
00:34:54,000 --> 00:34:56,800
Now he begs you to help him
in his struggle against the Empire.

301
00:34:57,000 --> 00:35:00,400
I regret that I am unable to present
my father's request to you in person.

302
00:35:00,800 --> 00:35:04,800
But my ship has fallen under attack and
I'm afraid my mission to bring
you to Alderaan has failed.

303
00:35:05,200 --> 00:35:10,400
I have placed information vital to the survival
of the Rebellion into the memory
systems of this R2 unit.

304
00:35:10,600 --> 00:35:12,400
My father will know
how to retrieve it.

305
00:35:12,800 --> 00:35:16,400
You must see this droid
safely delivered to him on Alderaan.

306
00:35:16,800 --> 00:35:19,000
This is our most desperate hour.

307
00:35:19,200 --> 00:35:23,600
Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
You're my only hope.

308
00:35:37,600 --> 00:35:42,000
You must learn the ways of the Force,
if you're to come with me to Alderaan.

309
00:35:42,200 --> 00:35:47,400
Alderaan? I'm not going to Alderaan. I've
gotta get home. It's late. I'm in for it as it is.

310
00:35:47,435 --> 00:35:50,400
I need your help, Luke.
<i>She</i> needs your help.

311
00:35:50,600 --> 00:35:53,400
I'm getting too old
for this sort of thing.

312
00:35:58,000 --> 00:36:01,800
I can't get involved.
I've got work to do.

313
00:36:02,000 --> 00:36:06,600
It's not that I like the Empire, I hate it.
But there's nothing I can do about it right now.

314
00:36:08,000 --> 00:36:09,600
It's such a long way from here.

315
00:36:10,000 --> 00:36:12,000
That's your uncle talking.

316
00:36:12,400 --> 00:36:15,800
Oh, boy. My uncle.
How am I ever gonna explain this?

317
00:36:15,835 --> 00:36:18,600
Learn about the Force, Luke.

318
00:36:24,400 --> 00:36:31,600
Look, I can take you as far as Anchorhead.
You can get a transport there to Mos Eisley,
or wherever you're going.

319
00:36:31,800 --> 00:36:34,800
You must do what you feel
is right, of course.

320
00:36:42,400 --> 00:36:46,400
Until this battle station is fully
operational, we are vulnerable.

321
00:36:46,600 --> 00:36:50,600
The Rebel Alliance is too well equipped.
They're more dangerous than you realize.

322
00:36:51,000 --> 00:36:55,400
Dangerous to your starfleet,
Commander, not to this battle station.

323
00:36:55,800 --> 00:36:59,400
The Rebellion will continue to
gain support in the Imperial Senate...

324
00:36:59,600 --> 00:37:03,000
The Imperial Senate will no longer
be of any concern to us.

325
00:37:03,400 --> 00:37:07,400
I've just received word that the Emperor
has dissolved the council permanently.

326
00:37:07,800 --> 00:37:12,000
The last remnants of the old Republic
have been swept away.

327
00:37:12,200 --> 00:37:16,200
That's impossible. How will the Emperor
maintain control without the bureaucracy?

328
00:37:16,400 --> 00:37:20,400
The regional governors now have
direct control over their territories.

329
00:37:21,000 --> 00:37:24,800
Fear will keep
the local systems in line.

330
00:37:25,200 --> 00:37:28,165
- Fear of this battle station.
- And what of the rebellion?

331
00:37:28,200 --> 00:37:32,000
If the Rebels have obtained a complete
technical readout of this station,

332
00:37:32,200 --> 00:37:36,400
it is possible, however unlikely, that they might
find a weakness, and exploit it.

333
00:37:36,600 --> 00:37:40,200
The plans you refer to will
soon be back in our hands.

334
00:37:40,400 --> 00:37:44,000
Any attack by the Rebels against this
station would be a useless gesture...

335
00:37:44,200 --> 00:37:46,600
no matter what technical data
they've obtained.

336
00:37:47,000 --> 00:37:53,000
This station is now the ultimate power
in the universe. I suggest we use it.

337
00:37:53,200 --> 00:37:57,000
Don't be too proud of this
technological terror you've constructed.

338
00:37:57,200 --> 00:38:02,600
The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant
next to the power of the Force.

339
00:38:02,800 --> 00:38:06,000
Don't try to frighten us with
your sorcerer's ways, Lord Vader.

340
00:38:06,400 --> 00:38:11,800
Your sad devotion to that ancient religion has not
helped you conjure up the stolen data tapes...

341
00:38:12,200 --> 00:38:15,800
or given you clairvoyance enough
to find the Rebels' hidden fortress...

342
00:38:22,600 --> 00:38:25,600
I find your lack of faith disturbing.

343
00:38:26,800 --> 00:38:29,600
Enough of this.
Vader, release him.

344
00:38:29,800 --> 00:38:31,800
As you wish.

345
00:38:33,400 --> 00:38:35,400
This bickering is pointless.

346
00:38:36,400 --> 00:38:42,400
Lord Vader will provide us with the location
of the Rebel fortress by the time this
station is operational.

347
00:38:42,800 --> 00:38:46,800
We will then crush the Rebellion
with one swift stroke.

348
00:38:54,200 --> 00:38:58,200
It looks like the Sand People did this, all right.
Look, there's gaffi sticks, Bantha tracks.

349
00:38:58,235 --> 00:39:00,400
It's just, I've never heard of them
hitting anything this big before.

350
00:39:00,600 --> 00:39:03,600
They didn't, but we are
meant to think they did.

351
00:39:03,800 --> 00:39:09,800
These tracks are side-by-side. Sand People
always ride single file to hide their numbers.

352
00:39:10,000 --> 00:39:12,600
These are the same Jawas
that sold us R2 and 3PO.

353
00:39:12,800 --> 00:39:17,400
And these blast points,
too accurate for Sand People.

354
00:39:17,800 --> 00:39:21,800
Only Imperial Stormtroopers
are so precise.

355
00:39:22,000 --> 00:39:24,800
But why would Imperial troops
want to slaughter Jawas?

356
00:39:29,800 --> 00:39:34,000
If they traced the robots here, they may
have learned who they sold them
to and that would lead them back...

357
00:39:34,200 --> 00:39:38,200
... home
- Wait, Luke. It's too dangerous.

358
00:40:02,400 --> 00:40:08,800
Uncle Owen! Aunt Beru! Uncle Owen!

359
00:40:57,000 --> 00:41:03,000
And now, Your Highness, we will discuss
the location of your hidden Rebel base.

360
00:41:45,400 --> 00:41:48,400
There's nothing you could have
done Luke, had you been there.

361
00:41:48,800 --> 00:41:54,000
You'd have been killed too, and the droids
would now be in the hands of the Empire.

362
00:41:55,200 --> 00:42:00,000
I want to come with you to Alderaan.
There's nothing for me here now.

363
00:42:00,200 --> 00:42:03,600
I want to learn the ways of the Force
and become a Jedi like my father.

364
00:42:18,800 --> 00:42:26,600
Mos Eisley spaceport. You will never find
a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.

365
00:42:27,000 --> 00:42:28,800
We must be cautious.

366
00:42:45,000 --> 00:42:47,600
How long have you had these droids?
- About three or four seasons.

367
00:42:47,800 --> 00:42:50,200
They're up for sale if you want them.

368
00:42:50,800 --> 00:42:55,000
Let me see your identification.
You don't need to see his identification.

369
00:42:56,000 --> 00:43:00,400
We don't need to see his identification.
- These aren't the droids you're looking for.

370
00:43:01,000 --> 00:43:03,000
These aren't the droids
we're looking for.

371
00:43:03,400 --> 00:43:06,000
He can go about his business.

372
00:43:06,400 --> 00:43:08,600
- You can go about your business.
- Move along.

373
00:43:09,800 --> 00:43:12,400
Move along. Move along.

374
00:43:22,800 --> 00:43:26,200
I can't abide those Jawas.
Disgusting creatures.

375
00:43:27,000 --> 00:43:28,800
Go on, go on.

376
00:43:30,200 --> 00:43:33,400
I can't understand how we got by
those troops. I thought we were dead.

377
00:43:33,600 --> 00:43:38,600
The Force can have a strong influence
on the weak-minded.

378
00:43:41,200 --> 00:43:44,200
Do you really think we're gonna find
a pilot here that'll take us to Alderaan?

379
00:43:44,400 --> 00:43:48,600
Most of the best freighter pilots are to be
found here. Only watch your step,

380
00:43:49,000 --> 00:43:53,600
this place can be a little rough.
- I'm ready for anything.

381
00:43:56,600 --> 00:43:58,400
Come along, R2.

382
00:44:48,800 --> 00:44:52,400
- Hey. We don't serve their kind here.
- What?

383
00:44:52,600 --> 00:44:55,800
Your droids... they'll have to wait
outside. We don't want them here.

384
00:44:56,200 --> 00:44:58,000
Why don't you wait out by the speeder.
We don't want any trouble.

385
00:44:58,200 --> 00:44:59,800
I heartily agree with you, sir.

386
00:45:46,800 --> 00:45:49,600
- He doesn't like you.
- Sorry.

387
00:45:51,000 --> 00:45:53,200
I don't like you either.

388
00:45:53,400 --> 00:45:56,000
You just watch yourself.
We're wanted men.

389
00:45:56,200 --> 00:46:00,800
I have the death sentence on 12 systems.
- I'll be careful then.

390
00:46:01,000 --> 00:46:02,200
You'll be dead.

391
00:46:02,400 --> 00:46:05,000
This little one's
not worth the effort.

392
00:46:05,200 --> 00:46:07,000
Come, let me get you something.

393
00:46:10,400 --> 00:46:12,600
No blasters! No blasters!

394
00:46:34,000 --> 00:46:35,600
I'm all right.

395
00:46:37,600 --> 00:46:42,200
Chewbacca here is first mate
on a ship that might suit us.

396
00:46:46,400 --> 00:46:48,600
I don't like the look of this.

397
00:47:03,400 --> 00:47:06,800
Han Solo. I'm captain
of the <i>Millennium Falcon.</i>

398
00:47:07,000 --> 00:47:10,400
Chewie here tells me you're looking
for passage to the Alderaan system.

399
00:47:10,435 --> 00:47:12,800
Yes, indeed,
if it's a fast ship.

400
00:47:13,000 --> 00:47:17,000
Fast ship? You've never heard of
the <i>Millennium Falcon?</i>

401
00:47:17,200 --> 00:47:18,165
Should I have?

402
00:47:18,200 --> 00:47:21,600
It's the ship that made the Kessel run
in less than 12 parsecs.

403
00:47:23,600 --> 00:47:30,600
I've outrun Imperial starships, not the local bulk
cruisers, mind you. I'm talking about
the big Corellian ships now.

404
00:47:32,400 --> 00:47:36,200
She's fast enough for you, old man.
- What's the cargo?

405
00:47:36,235 --> 00:47:37,800
Only passengers...

406
00:47:38,000 --> 00:47:41,800
myself, the boy, two droids...

407
00:47:41,835 --> 00:47:44,600
and no questions asked.

408
00:47:45,400 --> 00:47:47,365
What is it, some kind of local trouble?

409
00:47:47,400 --> 00:47:52,800
Let's just say we'd like to avoid
any Imperial entanglements.

410
00:47:53,800 --> 00:47:56,800
Well, that's the real trick, isn't it?

411
00:47:57,000 --> 00:47:59,200
And it's gonna cost you
something extra.

412
00:48:00,400 --> 00:48:03,000
10,000, all in advance.

413
00:48:03,800 --> 00:48:06,000
10,000?

414
00:48:06,400 --> 00:48:08,800
We could almost
buy our own ship for that.

415
00:48:09,000 --> 00:48:11,400
But who's gonna fly it, kid? You?

416
00:48:11,600 --> 00:48:15,600
You bet I could. I'm not such a bad pilot myself.
We don't have to sit here and listen...

417
00:48:16,800 --> 00:48:22,800
We can pay you 2,000 now,
plus 15 when we reach Alderaan.

418
00:48:23,400 --> 00:48:25,200
Seventeen, huh?

419
00:48:28,000 --> 00:48:30,365
Okay, you guys
got yourselves a ship.

420
00:48:30,400 --> 00:48:35,200
We'll leave as soon as you're ready. Docking Bay 94
- Ninety-four.

421
00:48:35,800 --> 00:48:39,800
Looks like somebody's beginning
to take an interest in your handiwork.

422
00:48:40,600 --> 00:48:43,600
All right. We'll check it out.

423
00:48:54,800 --> 00:48:58,365
17,000. Those guys
must really be desperate.

424
00:48:58,400 --> 00:49:02,800
This could really save my neck.
Get back to the ship, get it ready.

425
00:49:03,000 --> 00:49:07,400
- You'll have to sell your speeder.
- That's ok. I'm never coming back
to this planet again.

426
00:49:09,380 --> 00:49:10,780
Going somewhere, Solo?

427
00:49:10,300 --> 00:49:13,400
Yes, Greedo. As a matter of fact
I was just going to see your boss.

428
00:49:13,600 --> 00:49:15,800
Tell Jabba that
I've got his money.

429
00:49:16,120 --> 00:49:20,420
It's too late. You should have paid him
when you had the chance.

430
00:49:20,925 --> 00:49:26,947
Jabba's put a price on your head so large,
every bounty hunter in the galaxy
will be looking for you...

431
00:49:27,498 --> 00:49:29,054
I'm lucky I found you first.

432
00:49:29,300 --> 00:49:31,500
Yeah, but this time
I've got the money.

433
00:49:31,869 --> 00:49:35,058
If you give it to me,
I might forget I found you.

434
00:49:35,500 --> 00:49:37,000
I don't have it with me.
Tell Jabba...

435
00:49:38,609 --> 00:49:40,265
Jabba's through with you.

436
00:49:41,545 --> 00:49:43,723
He has no time for smugglers...

437
00:49:44,181 --> 00:49:46,081
...who drop their shipments at the first
sign of an Imperial cruiser.

438
00:49:47,000 --> 00:49:50,300
- Even I get boarded sometimes.
Do you think I had a choice?

439
00:49:50,754 --> 00:49:54,465
You can tell that to Jabba.
He may only take your ship.

440
00:49:55,500 --> 00:49:56,800
Over my dead body.

441
00:49:56,994 --> 00:49:58,061
That's the idea.

442
00:49:58,529 --> 00:50:02,107
I've been looking forward to this
for a long time.

443
00:50:02,600 --> 00:50:04,300
Yes, I'll bet you have.

444
00:50:18,000 --> 00:50:19,600
Sorry about the mess.

434
00:50:28,600 --> 00:50:35,400
Her resistance to the mind probe is
considerable. It'll be some time before
we can extract any information from her.

435
00:50:35,435 --> 00:50:41,000
The final checkout is completed. All systems are
operational. What course shall we set?

436
00:50:41,400 --> 00:50:45,000
Perhaps she would respond
to an alternative form of persuasion.

437
00:50:45,400 --> 00:50:46,200
What do you mean?

438
00:50:46,600 --> 00:50:49,000
I think it is time we demonstrated
the full power of this station.

439
00:50:49,600 --> 00:50:52,200
- Set your course for Alderaan.
- With pleasure.

440
00:50:53,400 --> 00:50:55,200
Lock the door, R2.

441
00:50:57,400 --> 00:50:59,400
All right, check this side of the street.

442
00:51:03,600 --> 00:51:06,400
The door's locked.
Move on to the next one.

443
00:51:13,200 --> 00:51:16,000
I would much rather have gone with
Master Luke than stay here with you.

444
00:51:16,600 --> 00:51:20,000
I don't know what this trouble is about,
but I'm sure it must be your fault.

445
00:51:20,400 --> 00:51:22,200
You watch your language.

446
00:51:24,800 --> 00:51:27,000
All right. Give it to me.
I'll take it.

447
00:51:27,800 --> 00:51:31,400
Look at this. Ever since the XP-38
came out, they just aren't in demand.

448
00:51:31,600 --> 00:51:32,800
It'll be enough.

449
00:51:50,400 --> 00:51:54,600
If the ship's as fast as he's boasting,
we ought to do well.

450
00:52:16,800 --> 00:52:18,200
What a piece of junk.

451
00:52:18,400 --> 00:52:20,800
She'll make point five past light speed.

452
00:52:21,000 --> 00:52:23,800
She may not look like much,
but she's got it where it counts, kid.

453
00:52:24,000 --> 00:52:26,600
I've made a lot of special
modifications myself.

454
00:52:27,000 --> 00:52:31,400
But, we're a little rushed, so if you'll
just get on board, we'll get outta here.

455
00:52:36,000 --> 00:52:37,400
Hello, sir.

456
00:52:45,800 --> 00:52:47,400
Which way?

457
00:52:49,200 --> 00:52:51,200
All right, men,
load your weapons.

458
00:52:53,400 --> 00:52:55,400
Stop that ship.
Blast them.

459
00:53:05,200 --> 00:53:07,000
Chewie, get us out of here!

460
00:53:08,600 --> 00:53:12,200
Oh, my. I'd forgotten
how much I hate space travel.

461
00:53:27,600 --> 00:53:30,765
Looks like an Imperial cruiser. Our
passengers must be hotter than I thought.

462
00:53:30,800 --> 00:53:35,000
Try and hold 'em off. Angle the deflector
shields while I make the calculations
for the jump to light speed.

463
00:53:45,600 --> 00:53:48,000
Stay sharp. There's two more comin' in.
They're gonna try and cut us off.

464
00:53:48,400 --> 00:53:50,400
Why don't you outrun 'em?
I thought you said this thing was fast.

465
00:53:50,600 --> 00:53:52,800
Watch your mouth, kid, or you're
gonna find yourself floating home.

466
00:53:53,200 --> 00:53:55,800
We'll be safe enough
once we make the jump to hyperspace.

467
00:53:56,000 --> 00:53:58,200
Besides, I know a few maneuvers.
We'll lose 'em.

468
00:54:03,000 --> 00:54:06,400
Here's where the fun begins.
- How long before you can make
the jump to light speed?

469
00:54:06,800 --> 00:54:09,000
It'll take a few moments to get
the coordinates from the navicomputer.

470
00:54:09,200 --> 00:54:11,000
Are you kidding?
At the rate they're gaining?

471
00:54:11,200 --> 00:54:13,800
Traveling through hyperspace
ain't like dustin' crops, boy.

472
00:54:14,000 --> 00:54:17,600
Without precise calculations we'd fly right through
a star or bounce too close to a supernova...

473
00:54:17,800 --> 00:54:19,800
and that would end your trip
real quick, wouldn't it?

474
00:54:20,400 --> 00:54:22,400
- What's that flashing?
- We're losing a deflector shield.

475
00:54:22,600 --> 00:54:25,000
Go strap yourselves in.
I'm gonna make the jump to light speed.

476
00:54:47,000 --> 00:54:49,000
We've entered
the Alderaan system.

477
00:54:49,800 --> 00:54:51,200
Governor Tarkin.

478
00:54:51,400 --> 00:54:54,200
I should have expected
to find you holding Vader's leash.

479
00:54:54,400 --> 00:54:58,000
I recognized your foul stench
when I was brought on board.

480
00:54:59,000 --> 00:55:01,600
Charming to the last.

481
00:55:01,800 --> 00:55:05,800
You don't know how hard I found it
signing the order to terminate your life.

482
00:55:05,835 --> 00:55:08,600
I'm surprised you had the courage
to take the responsibility yourself.

483
00:55:09,000 --> 00:55:11,800
Princess Leia,
before your execution...

484
00:55:12,000 --> 00:55:17,000
I would like you to be my guest at a ceremony
that will make this battle station operational.

485
00:55:17,400 --> 00:55:20,400
No star system will dare
oppose the Emperor now.

486
00:55:20,800 --> 00:55:25,600
The more you tighten your grip, Tarkin, the more
star systems will slip through your fingers.

487
00:55:25,800 --> 00:55:29,000
Not after we demonstrate
the power of this station.

488
00:55:29,200 --> 00:55:34,800
In a way, you have determined the choice
of the planet that'll be destroyed first.

489
00:55:35,000 --> 00:55:39,400
Since you are reluctant to provide us
with the location of the Rebel base...

490
00:55:39,800 --> 00:55:45,000
I have chosen to test this station's destructive
power on your home planet of Alderaan.

491
00:55:45,400 --> 00:55:48,800
No. Alderaan is peaceful.
We have no weapons. You can't possibly. .

492
00:55:49,000 --> 00:55:53,000
You would prefer another target?
A military target? Then name the system.

493
00:55:55,200 --> 00:55:58,800
I grow tired of asking this,
so it will be the last time.

494
00:55:59,000 --> 00:56:01,400
Where is the Rebel base?

495
00:56:05,000 --> 00:56:08,600
Dantooine. They're on Dantooine.

496
00:56:08,800 --> 00:56:12,000
There. You see, Lord Vader?
She can be reasonable.

497
00:56:12,400 --> 00:56:15,200
Continue with the operation.
You may fire when ready.

498
00:56:15,235 --> 00:56:17,600
- What?
- You're far too trusting.

499
00:56:17,800 --> 00:56:21,200
Dantooine is too remote to make an effective
demonstration. But don't worry.

500
00:56:21,400 --> 00:56:24,200
We will deal with
your Rebel friends soon enough.

501
00:56:24,400 --> 00:56:26,400
No!

502
00:56:27,600 --> 00:56:29,400
Commence primary ignition.

503
00:56:52,400 --> 00:56:55,000
Are you all right?
What's wrong?

504
00:56:56,200 --> 00:56:58,000
I felt a great disturbance
in the Force...

505
00:56:58,600 --> 00:57:04,000
as if millions of voices suddenly cried
out in terror and were suddenly silenced.

506
00:57:04,200 --> 00:57:07,000
I fear something terrible
has happened.

507
00:57:08,000 --> 00:57:10,600
You'd better get on
with your exercises.

508
00:57:12,800 --> 00:57:17,800
Well, you can forget your troubles with those Imperial slugs. I told you I'd outrun 'em.

509
00:57:21,400 --> 00:57:23,400
Don't everybody
thank me at once.

510
00:57:23,800 --> 00:57:27,400
Anyway, we should be at Alderaan
about 0200 hours.

511
00:57:35,200 --> 00:57:37,800
Now be careful, R2.

512
00:57:46,600 --> 00:57:49,200
He made a fair move.
Screaming about it can't help you.

513
00:57:49,400 --> 00:57:51,800
Let him have it.
It's not wise to upset a Wookiee.

514
00:57:51,835 --> 00:57:54,200
But, sir, nobody worries
about upsetting a droid.

515
00:57:54,400 --> 00:57:58,800
Thats 'cause a droid don't pull people's arms
out of their sockets when they lose.

516
00:57:59,000 --> 00:58:01,200
Wookiees are known to do that.

517
00:58:03,200 --> 00:58:04,765
I see your point, sir.

518
00:58:04,800 --> 00:58:07,000
I suggest a new strategy, R2.

519
00:58:07,035 --> 00:58:08,800
Let the Wookiee win.

520
00:58:26,800 --> 00:58:30,400
Remember, a Jedi can feel the Force
flowing through him.

521
00:58:30,600 --> 00:58:32,600
You mean it controls your actions?

522
00:58:32,800 --> 00:58:35,800
Partially. But it also obeys your commands.

523
00:58:41,000 --> 00:58:45,000
Ha, ha, ha, ha. Hokey religions and
ancient weapons are no match for a
good blaster at your side, kid.

524
00:58:45,800 --> 00:58:48,000
You don't believe
in the Force, do you?

525
00:58:48,200 --> 00:58:52,400
Kid, I've flown from one side of this galaxy
to the other. I've seen a lot of strange stuff...

526
00:58:52,600 --> 00:58:58,600
but I've never seen anything to make me
believe there's one all-powerful Force
controlling everything.

527
00:58:59,000 --> 00:59:02,400
There's no mystical energy field
controls my destiny.

528
00:59:02,600 --> 00:59:05,600
It's all a lot of
simple tricks and nonsense.

529
00:59:05,800 --> 00:59:08,600
I suggest you try it again, Luke.

530
00:59:10,000 --> 00:59:13,600
This time, let go your conscious self...

531
00:59:14,800 --> 00:59:17,200
and act on instinct.

532
00:59:18,200 --> 00:59:21,600
With the blast shield down, I can't
even see. How am I supposed to fight?

533
00:59:21,800 --> 00:59:25,200
Your eyes can deceive you.
Don't trust them.

534
00:59:33,600 --> 00:59:36,400
Stretch out with your feelings.

535
00:59:50,200 --> 00:59:52,400
You see? You can do it.

536
00:59:52,800 --> 00:59:57,000
- I call it luck.
- In my experience, there's no such thing as luck.

537
00:59:57,200 --> 01:00:02,600
Look, good against remotes is one thing.
Good against the living? That's something else.

538
01:00:03,600 --> 01:00:06,600
Looks like we're coming up on Alderaan.

539
01:00:08,800 --> 01:00:11,600
Y'know, I did feel something.
I could almost see the remote.

540
01:00:11,800 --> 01:00:16,200
That's good. You've taken
your first step into a larger world.

541
01:00:21,200 --> 01:00:22,880
Yes?

542
01:00:23,000 --> 01:00:24,600
Our scout ships
have reached Dantooine.

543
01:00:24,800 --> 01:00:29,200
They found the remains of a Rebel base,
but they estimate that it has been
deserted for some time.

544
01:00:29,400 --> 01:00:32,800
They are now conducting an extensive
search of the surrounding systems.

545
01:00:33,800 --> 01:00:36,200
She lied.
She lied to us.

546
01:00:36,400 --> 01:00:40,000
I told you she would never
consciously betray the Rebellion.

547
01:00:41,400 --> 01:00:43,400
Terminate her, immediately.

548
01:00:46,400 --> 01:00:49,400
Stand by, Chewie. Here we go.
Cut in the sublight engines.

549
01:00:52,000 --> 01:00:53,400
What the...

550
01:00:56,200 --> 01:01:00,000
Ahh, we've come out of hyperspace into a meteor
shower, some kind of asteroid collision.

551
01:01:00,035 --> 01:01:02,200
- It's not on any of the charts.
- What's going on?

552
01:01:02,235 --> 01:01:04,600
Our position's correct,
except, no Alderaan.

553
01:01:05,200 --> 01:01:06,165
What do you mean? Where is it?

554
01:01:06,200 --> 01:01:09,000
That's what I'm trying to tell you, kid.
It ain't there. It's been totally blown away.

555
01:01:09,035 --> 01:01:11,800
- What? How?
- Destroyed by the Empire.

556
01:01:12,000 --> 01:01:16,400
The entire starfleet couldn't destroy the
whole planet. It'd take a thousand ships
with more firepower than I've...

557
01:01:18,400 --> 01:01:20,400
- There's another ship coming in.
- Maybe they know what happened.

558
01:01:20,600 --> 01:01:22,200
It's an Imperial fighter.

559
01:01:24,000 --> 01:01:26,800
- It followed us.
- No. It's a short-range fighter.

560
01:01:27,000 --> 01:01:29,000
There aren't any bases around here.
Where did it come from?

561
01:01:32,000 --> 01:01:34,800
Sure is leaving in a big hurry.
If they identify us, we're in big trouble.

562
01:01:34,835 --> 01:01:37,517
Not if I can help it.
Chewie, jam its transmissions.

563
01:01:37,552 --> 01:01:40,200
- Be as well to let it go. It's too far out of range.
- Not for long.

564
01:01:44,400 --> 01:01:47,600
A fighter that size couldn't get
this deep into space on its own.

565
01:01:47,800 --> 01:01:50,400
He must have gotten lost,
been part of a convoy or something.

566
01:01:50,600 --> 01:01:53,400
Well, he ain't gonna be around
long enough to tell anybody about us.

567
01:01:55,800 --> 01:01:57,800
Look at him. He's heading for that small moon.

568
01:01:58,400 --> 01:02:00,800
I think I can get him before he gets there.
He's almost in range.

569
01:02:01,800 --> 01:02:04,000
That's no moon.

570
01:02:04,200 --> 01:02:07,600
- It's a space station.
- It's too big to be a space station.

571
01:02:10,800 --> 01:02:14,600
I have a very bad feeling about this.
- Turn the ship around.

572
01:02:15,200 --> 01:02:16,765
Yeah, I think you're right.

573
01:02:16,800 --> 01:02:19,400
Full reverse. Chewie, lock in
the auxiliary power.

574
01:02:24,400 --> 01:02:26,200
Chewie, lock in
the auxiliary power!

575
01:02:28,800 --> 01:02:30,365
Why are we still
moving towards it!?

576
01:02:30,400 --> 01:02:32,565
We're caught in a tractor beam!
It's pulling us in.

577
01:02:32,600 --> 01:02:35,800
There's gotta be something you can do.
- There's nothing I can do
about it, kid, I'm full power.

578
01:02:35,835 --> 01:02:38,600
I'm going to have to shut down.
They're not gonna get me without a fight.

579
01:02:43,200 --> 01:02:47,000
You can't win, but there are
alternatives to fighting.

580
01:03:03,200 --> 01:03:05,200
Clear Bay 327.

581
01:03:05,400 --> 01:03:07,800
We are opening
the magnetic field.

582
01:03:22,400 --> 01:03:25,000
To your stations.
Come with me.

583
01:03:29,300 --> 01:03:32,300
<i>Close all outboard shields.
Close all outboard shields. </i>

584
01:03:34,600 --> 01:03:35,600
Yes?

585
01:03:35,800 --> 01:03:38,200
<i>We've captured a freighter entering
the remains of the Alderaan system. </i>

586
01:03:38,400 --> 01:03:42,365
<i>Its markings match those of a ship
that blasted its way out of Mos Eisley. </i>

587
01:03:42,400 --> 01:03:49,400
They must be trying to return the stolen plans
to the princess. She may yet be of some use to us.

588
01:03:54,200 --> 01:03:59,000
<i>Unlock 1, 5, 7 and 9.
Release charge. </i>

589
01:04:05,800 --> 01:04:10,000
There's no one on board, sir. According to the log,
the crew abandoned ship right after takeoff.
Author
Time
590
01:04:10,600 --> 01:04:13,400
It must be a decoy, sir. Several
of the escape pods have been jettisoned.

591
01:04:13,600 --> 01:04:14,600
Did you find any droids?

592
01:04:14,800 --> 01:04:17,000
No, sir. If there were any on board,
they must have jettisoned.

593
01:04:17,600 --> 01:04:20,600
Send a scanning crew aboard.
I want every part of this ship checked.

594
01:04:20,800 --> 01:04:22,000
Yes, sir.

595
01:04:22,400 --> 01:04:26,600
I sense something, a presence I've not felt since...

596
01:04:29,000 --> 01:04:32,800
Get me a scanning crew in here on the double.
I want every part of this ship checked.

597
01:04:52,600 --> 01:04:54,600
Boy, it's lucky you had
these compartments.

598
01:04:54,800 --> 01:04:57,800
I use them for smuggling. I never
thought I'd be smuggling myself in 'em.

599
01:04:58,000 --> 01:05:01,800
This is ridiculous. Even if I could take off,
I'd never get past the tractor beam.

600
01:05:01,835 --> 01:05:03,200
Leave that to me.

601
01:05:03,600 --> 01:05:06,200
Damn fool.
I knew that you were gonna say that.

602
01:05:06,400 --> 01:05:10,000
Who's the more foolish,
the fool or the fool who follows him?

603
01:05:19,400 --> 01:05:23,200
The ship's all yours. If the scanners
pick up anything, report it immediately.

604
01:05:24,600 --> 01:05:25,600
All right, let's go.

605
01:05:41,000 --> 01:05:43,000
Hey, down there.

606
01:05:44,400 --> 01:05:47,000
Could you give us a hand with this?

607
01:05:55,200 --> 01:05:57,800
TK-421, why aren't you
at your post?

608
01:05:58,400 --> 01:06:00,400
TK-421, do you copy?

609
01:06:13,000 --> 01:06:15,600
Take over. We've got a bad transmitter.
I'll see what I can do.

610
01:06:33,400 --> 01:06:35,400
You know, between his howling and
your blasting everything in sight...

611
01:06:35,600 --> 01:06:37,600
it's a wonder the whole station
doesn't know we're here.

612
01:06:38,000 --> 01:06:41,400
Bring 'em on. I prefer a straight fight
to all this sneakin' around.

613
01:06:41,435 --> 01:06:43,000
We've found
the computer outlet, sir.

614
01:06:43,200 --> 01:06:46,200
Plug in. He should be able to
interpret the entire Imperial network.

615
01:06:57,400 --> 01:07:01,000
He says he's found the main controls to the
power beam that's holding the ship here.

616
01:07:01,200 --> 01:07:03,400
He'll try to make the precise location
appear on the monitor.

617
01:07:04,200 --> 01:07:10,200
The tractor beam is coupled to the main
reactor in 7 locations. A power loss at one of
the terminals will allow the ship to leave.

618
01:07:14,000 --> 01:07:17,200
I don't think you boys can help.
I must go alone.

619
01:07:17,400 --> 01:07:20,800
Whatever you say. I've done more than
I bargained for on this trip already.

620
01:07:21,000 --> 01:07:24,600
- I want to go with you.
- Be patient, Luke. Stay and
watch over the droids.

621
01:07:24,800 --> 01:07:25,965
But he can...

622
01:07:26,000 --> 01:07:29,800
They must be delivered safely or other star
systems will suffer the same fate as Alderaan.

623
01:07:30,400 --> 01:07:33,400
Your destiny lies along
a different path from mine.

624
01:07:37,600 --> 01:07:40,800
The Force will be with you... always.

625
01:07:50,400 --> 01:07:52,200
Boy you said it, Chewie.

626
01:07:52,600 --> 01:07:55,000
Where did you dig up that old fossil?

627
01:07:56,200 --> 01:07:57,365
Ben is a great man.

628
01:07:57,400 --> 01:08:00,400
- Yeah, great at getting us into trouble.
- I didn't hear you give any ideas.

629
01:08:00,800 --> 01:08:03,400
Well, anything's better than just hangin'
around waiting for 'em to pick us up.

630
01:08:03,600 --> 01:08:04,600
Who do you think...

631
01:08:06,200 --> 01:08:07,600
What is it?

632
01:08:07,800 --> 01:08:09,400
I'm afraid I'm not quite sure, sir.

633
01:08:09,600 --> 01:08:12,200
He says, "I've found her, "
and keeps repeating, "She's here. "

634
01:08:12,400 --> 01:08:15,000
Well, Who? Who has he found?

635
01:08:15,200 --> 01:08:16,200
Princess Leia.

636
01:08:16,400 --> 01:08:18,800
The princess? She's here?
- Princess?

637
01:08:18,835 --> 01:08:21,200
Where? Where is she?
- Princess? What's going on?

638
01:08:27,000 --> 01:08:29,400
Level 5, Detention Block AA-23.

639
01:08:34,600 --> 01:08:37,200
I'm afraid she's scheduled
to be terminated.

640
01:08:37,800 --> 01:08:40,400
Oh, no.
We've gotta do something.

641
01:08:40,600 --> 01:08:41,400
What are you talking about?

642
01:08:41,600 --> 01:08:44,600
The droids belong to her.
She's the one in the message.
We gotta help her.

643
01:08:44,800 --> 01:08:48,000
Now look, don't get any funny ideas.
The old man wants us to wait right here.

644
01:08:48,035 --> 01:08:51,200
But he didn't know she was here.
Just find a way back into the detention block.

645
01:08:51,400 --> 01:08:54,000
- I'm not going anywhere.
- They're gonna execute her.

646
01:08:54,200 --> 01:08:57,600
Look, a few minutes ago you said you
didn't want to just wait to be captured.
Now all you wanna do is stay?

647
01:08:57,800 --> 01:09:00,400
Marching into the detention area
is not what I had in mind.

648
01:09:00,600 --> 01:09:03,200
- But they're gonna kill her.
- Better her than me.

649
01:09:11,400 --> 01:09:12,800
She's rich.

650
01:09:15,800 --> 01:09:16,600
Rich?

651
01:09:16,800 --> 01:09:21,000
Rich, powerful. Listen, if you were to
rescue her, the reward would be...

652
01:09:21,600 --> 01:09:22,365
What?

653
01:09:22,400 --> 01:09:24,200
Well, more well than you can imagine.

654
01:09:24,400 --> 01:09:27,400
I don't know. I can imagine quite a bit.
- You'll get it

655
01:09:27,600 --> 01:09:29,400
I better.
- You will

656
01:09:30,400 --> 01:09:32,400
All right, kid.
You better be right about this.

657
01:09:32,600 --> 01:09:34,400
- All right.
- What's your plan?

658
01:09:35,600 --> 01:09:38,400
Uh, Threepio, hand me those binders there,
will ya?

659
01:09:39,400 --> 01:09:41,200
Okay.

660
01:09:41,600 --> 01:09:43,800
Now, I'm gonna put these on you.

661
01:09:44,800 --> 01:09:48,200
Okay, Han, you,
you put those on.

662
01:09:49,200 --> 01:09:51,600
Don't worry, Chewie.
I think I know what he has in mind.

663
01:09:52,400 --> 01:09:57,600
Master Luke, sir, pardon me for asking, but
what should R2 and I do if we're discovered here?

664
01:09:58,000 --> 01:10:00,800
- Lock the door.
- And hope they don't have blasters.

665
01:10:01,400 --> 01:10:03,200
That isn't very reassuring.

666
01:10:54,800 --> 01:10:57,000
I can't see a thing in this helmet.

667
01:11:28,800 --> 01:11:31,200
- This is not gonna work.
- Why didn't you say so before?

668
01:11:31,400 --> 01:11:33,800
I did say so before.

669
01:11:48,600 --> 01:11:51,200
Where are you
taking this... thing?

670
01:11:51,600 --> 01:11:54,400
Prisoner transfer
from Cell Block 1138.

671
01:11:55,800 --> 01:11:59,000
I wasn't notified.
I'll have to clear it.

672
01:12:06,200 --> 01:12:07,000
Look out! He's loose!

673
01:12:07,200 --> 01:12:08,600
He'll tear us all apart!
- I'll get him!

674
01:12:31,100 --> 01:12:33,100
Look out!

675
01:12:44,400 --> 01:12:47,300
We gotta find out which cell
this princess of yours is in.

676
01:12:47,335 --> 01:12:50,200
Here it is... 2187.
You go and get her. I'll hold 'em here.

677
01:12:55,000 --> 01:12:57,565
Uh, everything's under control.
Situation normal.

678
01:12:57,600 --> 01:13:00,600
<i>What happened?</i>
- Uh, had a slight weapons malfunction...

679
01:13:01,000 --> 01:13:07,800
... but, uh, everything's perfectly all right now.
We're fine. We're all fine here, now.
Thank you. How are you?

680
01:13:08,000 --> 01:13:09,200
<i>We're sending a squad up. </i>

681
01:13:09,400 --> 01:13:15,200
Uh, uh, negative, negative. We have a, uh, reactor leak
here, uh, now. Give us a few minutes to lock it down.

682
01:13:15,400 --> 01:13:17,400
Uh, large leak, very dangerous.

683
01:13:17,600 --> 01:13:20,000
<i>Who is this?
What's your operating number?</i>

684
01:13:22,600 --> 01:13:26,200
Boring conversation anyway.
Luke, we're gonna have company!

685
01:13:40,800 --> 01:13:42,400
Aren't you a little short
for a Stormtrooper?

686
01:13:42,600 --> 01:13:45,000
Huh? Oh, the uniform.

687
01:13:46,800 --> 01:13:48,800
I'm Luke Skywalker.
I'm here to rescue you.

688
01:13:49,200 --> 01:13:50,000
You're who?

689
01:13:50,200 --> 01:13:52,800
I'm here to rescue you. I've got your R2 unit.
I'm here with Ben Kenobi.

690
01:13:52,835 --> 01:13:54,600
Ben Kenobi? Where is he?
= Come on!

691
01:13:57,000 --> 01:13:58,700
He is here.

692
01:13:58,735 --> 01:14:00,400
Obi-Wan Kenobi?

693
01:14:01,000 --> 01:14:02,200
What makes you think so?

694
01:14:02,600 --> 01:14:08,400
A tremor in the Force. The last time I felt it
was in the presence of my old master.

695
01:14:08,600 --> 01:14:11,100
Surely he must be dead by now.

696
01:14:11,135 --> 01:14:13,600
Don't underestimate the Force.

697
01:14:14,600 --> 01:14:18,000
The Jedi are extinct.
Their fire has gone out of the universe.

698
01:14:18,400 --> 01:14:21,000
You, my friend, are all that's left
of their religion.

699
01:14:22,000 --> 01:14:22,800
Yes?

700
01:14:23,000 --> 01:14:26,600
<i>We have an emergency alert
in Detention Block AA-23. </i>

701
01:14:27,400 --> 01:14:30,000
The princess?
Put all sections on alert.

702
01:14:30,200 --> 01:14:33,600
Obi-Wan is here.
The Force is with him.

703
01:14:34,000 --> 01:14:36,600
If you're right,
he must not be allowed to escape.

704
01:14:36,800 --> 01:14:40,400
Escape is not his plan.
I must face him alone.

705
01:14:49,800 --> 01:14:52,000
Get behind me! Get behind me!

706
01:15:02,800 --> 01:15:05,800
Watch your left.
They went down the cell bay.

707
01:15:08,200 --> 01:15:11,200
- Can't get out that way.
- Looks like you managed to cut off
our only escape route.

708
01:15:11,400 --> 01:15:13,800
Maybe you'd like it back in your cell,
Your Highness.

709
01:15:16,400 --> 01:15:18,200
- C-3PO. C-3PO.
<i>Yes, sir?</i>

710
01:15:18,600 --> 01:15:20,600
Are there any other ways out of
the cell bay? We've been cut off.

711
01:15:24,600 --> 01:15:26,200
What was that?
I didn't copy.

712
01:15:26,800 --> 01:15:29,800
I said all systems have been
alerted to your presence, sir.

713
01:15:30,200 --> 01:15:35,000
The main entrance seems to be the only
way in or out. All other information
on your level is restricted.

714
01:15:35,200 --> 01:15:37,600
- Open up in there.
Open up in there.

715
01:15:38,800 --> 01:15:39,600
Oh, no.

716
01:15:40,600 --> 01:15:42,200
There isn't any other way out.

717
01:15:47,800 --> 01:15:49,800
I can't hold them off forever.
Now what?

718
01:15:50,000 --> 01:15:50,800
This is some rescue.

719
01:15:51,600 --> 01:15:53,400
When you came in here,
didn't you have a plan for getting out?

720
01:15:53,600 --> 01:15:55,200
He's the brains, sweetheart.

721
01:15:55,400 --> 01:15:56,800
Well, I didn't...

722
01:15:58,600 --> 01:16:01,400
- What the hell are you doing?
- Somebody has to save our skins.

723
01:16:04,200 --> 01:16:06,000
Into the garbage chute, flyboy.

724
01:16:13,400 --> 01:16:14,200
Get in there!

725
01:16:15,800 --> 01:16:19,200
Get in there, you big furry oaf.
I don't care what you smell.

726
01:16:19,800 --> 01:16:21,800
Get in there,
and don't worry about it.

727
01:16:24,800 --> 01:16:25,800
Wonderful girl.

728
01:16:27,800 --> 01:16:30,200
Either I'm gonna kill her,
or I'm beginning to like her.

729
01:16:32,400 --> 01:16:33,800
Get in there.

730
01:16:42,600 --> 01:16:44,800
Ahhhh!

731
01:16:46,800 --> 01:16:50,400
The garbage chute was
a really wonderful idea.

732
01:16:50,800 --> 01:16:53,800
What an incredible smell
you've discovered.

733
01:16:56,400 --> 01:16:59,200
Let's get out of here.
- Get away from there.

734
01:17:00,000 --> 01:17:01,000
No, wait!

735
01:17:07,000 --> 01:17:09,765
Will you forget it!? I already tried it!
It's magnetically sealed.

736
01:17:09,800 --> 01:17:12,200
Put that thing away!
You're gonna get us all killed!

737
01:17:12,400 --> 01:17:16,800
Absolutely, Your Worship. Look, I had everything
under control till you led us down here.

738
01:17:17,200 --> 01:17:19,200
Y'know, It's not gonna take 'em long
to figure out what happened to us.

739
01:17:19,600 --> 01:17:20,600
It could be worse.

740
01:17:26,000 --> 01:17:26,800
It's worse.

741
01:17:27,000 --> 01:17:28,400
There's something alive in here.

742
01:17:28,600 --> 01:17:30,000
That's your imagination.

743
01:17:30,800 --> 01:17:32,600
Something just moved
past my leg.

744
01:17:34,600 --> 01:17:36,600
Look! Did you see that?

745
01:17:36,800 --> 01:17:37,800
What!?

746
01:17:58,600 --> 01:18:01,600
Luke! Kid! Luke!
- Luke!

747
01:18:01,800 --> 01:18:03,000
Luke!

748
01:18:09,600 --> 01:18:11,400
Luke! -Luke!

749
01:18:11,800 --> 01:18:13,000
Luke!

750
01:18:13,400 --> 01:18:15,200
Luke!, Grab hold of this!

751
01:18:15,800 --> 01:18:18,600
Blast it, will ya!? My gun's jammed.
- Where?

752
01:18:19,000 --> 01:18:20,400
Anywhere!

753
01:18:28,400 --> 01:18:30,400
Luke! Luke!

754
01:18:53,200 --> 01:18:54,400
Help him!

755
01:18:54,800 --> 01:18:55,800
What happened!?

756
01:18:56,000 --> 01:19:00,000
I don't know.
It just let go of me and disappeared.

757
01:19:06,200 --> 01:19:08,600
I got a bad feeling about this.

758
01:19:14,000 --> 01:19:17,200
The walls are moving!
- Don't just stand there, try
and brace it with something.

759
01:19:25,800 --> 01:19:27,200
Help me!

760
01:19:40,400 --> 01:19:41,800
Wait a minute.

761
01:19:44,800 --> 01:19:47,200
3PO! Come in, 3PO!

762
01:19:48,600 --> 01:19:51,800
<i>3PO! Where could he be?</i>

763
01:19:56,400 --> 01:19:58,400
Take over. See to him.

764
01:20:01,400 --> 01:20:02,600
Look, there.

765
01:20:04,800 --> 01:20:09,000
They're madmen. They're heading for the
prison level. If you hurry, you might catch them.

766
01:20:09,400 --> 01:20:10,200
Follow me.

767
01:20:14,600 --> 01:20:16,200
You stand guard.

768
01:20:21,200 --> 01:20:22,600
Come on.

769
01:20:26,400 --> 01:20:27,800
Oh.

770
01:20:30,600 --> 01:20:33,600
All this excitement has overrun
the circuits in my counterpart here.

771
01:20:33,800 --> 01:20:36,800
If you don't mind, I'd like to
take him down to maintenance.

772
01:20:37,000 --> 01:20:38,200
All right.

773
01:20:50,800 --> 01:20:54,800
3P0! Come in, 3PO! 3PO!

774
01:20:55,000 --> 01:20:57,800
- Get on top!
- I can't!

775
01:20:58,000 --> 01:21:00,400
Where could he be!? 3PO!

776
01:21:01,200 --> 01:21:03,200
3PO, will you come in!

777
01:21:03,800 --> 01:21:05,800
They aren't here. Something
must have happened to them.

778
01:21:06,000 --> 01:21:08,000
See if they've been captured. Hurry.

779
01:21:12,400 --> 01:21:15,400
One thing's for sure.
We're all gonna be a lot thinner.

780
01:21:17,800 --> 01:21:20,200
- Get on top of it!
- I'm trying!

781
01:21:26,000 --> 01:21:29,000
Thank goodness they haven't found them.
Where could they be?

782
01:21:31,600 --> 01:21:35,800
"Use the comlink?" Oh, my.
I forgot. I turned it off.

783
01:21:40,000 --> 01:21:42,400
- Are you there, sir?
- 3PO!?

784
01:21:43,000 --> 01:21:45,600
- We've had some problems.
- Will you shut up and listen to me!?

785
01:21:45,800 --> 01:21:48,400
Shut down all the garbage mashers
on the detention level, will ya!?

786
01:21:48,800 --> 01:21:52,400
Do you copy!? Shut down all the
garbage mashers on the detention level!

787
01:21:53,800 --> 01:21:56,400
Shut down all the garbage mashers
on the detention level!

788
01:21:56,435 --> 01:22:00,000
No, shut them all down.
Hurry!

789
01:22:09,600 --> 01:22:15,800
Ha, ha, ha! What!? Ha, ha!
Hey, you did great, 3PO!

790
01:22:16,000 --> 01:22:17,765
Listen to them.
They're dying, R2.

791
01:22:17,800 --> 01:22:22,000
Curse my metal body. I wasn't fast enough.
It's all my fault. My poor master.

792
01:22:22,400 --> 01:22:25,600
We're all right! You did great! Ha, ha!

793
01:22:25,800 --> 01:22:29,800
Hey, 3PO! Open the pressure maintenance
hatch on unit number... Where are we?
<i>3 2 6 3 8 2 7</i>

794
01:23:18,800 --> 01:23:22,600
If we can just avoid any more female advice,
we oughta be able to get out of here.

795
01:23:23,000 --> 01:23:24,200
Well, let's get moving.

796
01:23:26,000 --> 01:23:27,800
Where you goin'?

797
01:23:28,000 --> 01:23:29,200
No, wait! They'll hear!

798
01:23:32,000 --> 01:23:34,200
Come here, you big coward.
Chewie, come here!

799
01:23:34,400 --> 01:23:35,400
Listen.

800
01:23:36,200 --> 01:23:41,800
I don't know who you are, or where
you came from, but from now on,
you do as I tell you, okay?

801
01:23:42,600 --> 01:23:48,200
Look, Your Worshipfulness, let's get
one thing straight. I take orders
from just one person... me.

802
01:23:48,800 --> 01:23:50,600
It's a wonder you're still alive.

803
01:23:51,000 --> 01:23:53,400
Will somebody get this big
walking carpet out of my way?

804
01:23:54,200 --> 01:23:56,200
No reward is worth this.

805
01:24:06,600 --> 01:24:09,400
Give me regular reports, please.
- Right.

806
01:24:12,200 --> 01:24:15,000
- Do you know what's going on?
- Maybe it's another drill.

807
01:24:20,200 --> 01:24:22,000
You seen that new VT-16?

808
01:24:22,200 --> 01:24:26,400
Yeah. Some of the other guys were
telling me about it They say it's
quite a thing to see.

809
01:24:26,800 --> 01:24:27,600
What was that?

810
01:24:29,000 --> 01:24:32,200
Eh, it's nothing. Outgassing.
Don't worry about it.

811
01:24:37,200 --> 01:24:39,600
- There she is.
- C-3PO, do you copy?

812
01:24:39,800 --> 01:24:41,200
<i>Yes, sir.</i>
- Are you safe?

813
01:24:41,400 --> 01:24:42,600
<i>For the moment. </i>

814
01:24:43,000 --> 01:24:45,200
We're in the main hangar
across from the ship.

815
01:24:47,200 --> 01:24:48,800
We're right above you.
Stand by.

816
01:24:49,000 --> 01:24:52,800
You came in that thing? You're
braver than I thought.
- Nice. Come on.

817
01:24:57,200 --> 01:24:58,800
It's them.
Blast them.

818
01:25:00,400 --> 01:25:02,765
Get back to the ship!
- Where are you going? Come back!

819
01:25:02,800 --> 01:25:06,400
He certainly has courage.
- What good will it do us if he gets
himself killed? Come on.

820
01:25:32,600 --> 01:25:35,800
Whoop, I think we took a wrong turn.

821
01:25:39,400 --> 01:25:41,000
There's no lock.

822
01:25:44,600 --> 01:25:47,700
- That oughta hold them for a while.
- Quick. We've got to get across.

823
01:25:47,735 --> 01:25:50,800
- Find the controls that extend the bridge.
- Oh, I think I just blasted it.

824
01:25:50,835 --> 01:25:53,000
They're coming through!

825
01:26:14,800 --> 01:26:15,800
Here, hold this.

826
01:26:33,000 --> 01:26:34,200
Here they come.

827
01:26:45,200 --> 01:26:46,000
For luck.

828
01:26:53,000 --> 01:26:57,000
We think they may be splitting up.
They may be on Level 5 and 6 now, sir.

829
01:27:11,600 --> 01:27:13,400
Where could they be?

830
01:27:26,400 --> 01:27:47,365
Open the blast doors.
Open the blast doors.

831
01:27:47,400 --> 01:27:52,400
I've been waiting for you, Obi-Wan.
We meet again at last.

832
01:27:53,000 --> 01:27:54,600
The circle is now complete.

833
01:27:55,000 --> 01:27:59,400
When I left you, I was but the learner.
Now <i>I</i> am the master.

834
01:27:59,600 --> 01:28:01,600
Only a master of evil, Darth.

835
01:28:21,800 --> 01:28:24,200
Your powers are weak, old man.

836
01:28:24,800 --> 01:28:26,600
You can't win, Darth.

837
01:28:26,800 --> 01:28:31,400
If you strike me down... I shall become more
powerful than you can possibly imagine.

838
01:28:38,800 --> 01:28:41,000
You should not have come back.

839
01:29:06,600 --> 01:29:08,800
Didn't we just leave this party?

840
01:29:10,800 --> 01:29:13,365
- What kept you?
- We, uh, ran into some old friends.

841
01:29:13,400 --> 01:29:15,800
- The ship all right?
- Seems okay, if we can get to it.

842
01:29:16,000 --> 01:29:18,200
Just hope the old man got the
tractor beam outta commission.

843
01:29:33,200 --> 01:29:33,800
Look!

844
01:29:37,400 --> 01:29:39,600
Come on, R2. We're going.

845
01:29:41,000 --> 01:29:42,400
Now's our chance. Go!

846
01:29:45,800 --> 01:29:46,800
Ben?

847
01:30:02,600 --> 01:30:03,800
No!

848
01:30:12,200 --> 01:30:13,800
Come on!
- Come on!

849
01:30:14,400 --> 01:30:17,200
Come on! Luke, it's too late!

850
01:30:17,800 --> 01:30:19,200
Blast the door, kid!

851
01:30:28,600 --> 01:30:30,200
<i>Run, Luke, run!</i>

852
01:30:34,000 --> 01:30:37,000
I hope that that old man got that tractor
beam outta commission, or this is gonna
be a real short trip.

853
01:30:37,200 --> 01:30:38,200
Okay, Hit it!

854
01:31:10,400 --> 01:31:12,200
We're coming up
on their sentry ships.

855
01:31:12,400 --> 01:31:15,800
Hold them off. Angle the deflector
shields while I charge up the main guns.

856
01:31:24,800 --> 01:31:26,600
I can't believe he's gone.

857
01:31:30,800 --> 01:31:32,900
There wasn't anything
you could have done.

858
01:31:32,935 --> 01:31:35,000
Come on, buddy.
We're not out of this yet.

859
01:31:52,400 --> 01:31:54,600
You in, kid?
Okay, stay sharp.

860
01:32:05,400 --> 01:32:06,400
Here they come.

861
01:32:24,600 --> 01:32:26,000
They're coming in too fast!

862
01:32:34,400 --> 01:32:38,400
- We've lost the lateral controls.
- Don't worry. She'll hold together.

863
01:32:40,000 --> 01:32:41,800
Hear me, baby?
Hold together.

864
01:33:03,800 --> 01:33:05,565
Got him. I got him!

865
01:33:05,600 --> 01:33:07,800
Great, kid!
Don't get cocky!

866
01:33:09,400 --> 01:33:11,200
There's still two more of them out there!

867
01:33:44,800 --> 01:33:47,000
- That's it! We did it!
- We did it!

868
01:33:48,400 --> 01:33:51,200
Help. I think I'm melting.
This is all your fault.

869
01:33:58,800 --> 01:34:00,400
Are they away?

870
01:34:00,600 --> 01:34:03,200
They've just made the jump
into hyperspace.

871
01:34:03,800 --> 01:34:07,200
You're sure the homing beacon
is secure aboard their ship?

872
01:34:08,000 --> 01:34:12,800
I'm taking an awful risk, Vader.
This had better work.

873
01:34:13,400 --> 01:34:15,400
Not a bad bit of rescuing, huh?

874
01:34:15,800 --> 01:34:18,400
You know, sometimes
I amaze even myself.

875
01:34:19,200 --> 01:34:22,600
That doesn't sound too hard. They let us go.

876
01:34:22,800 --> 01:34:25,000
It's the only
explanation for the ease of our escape.

877
01:34:25,200 --> 01:34:28,000
- Easy? You call that easy?
- They're tracking us.

878
01:34:28,200 --> 01:34:30,200
Not this ship, sister.

879
01:34:31,200 --> 01:34:33,400
At least the information in R2
is still intact.

880
01:34:33,800 --> 01:34:36,000
What's so important?
What's he carrying?

881
01:34:36,200 --> 01:34:39,000
The technical readouts
of that battle station.

882
01:34:39,400 --> 01:34:42,600
I only hope that when the data's
analyzed, a weakness can be found.

883
01:34:42,800 --> 01:34:44,400
It's not over yet.

884
01:34:44,435 --> 01:34:46,000
It is for me, sister.

885
01:34:46,200 --> 01:34:49,600
Look, I ain't in this for your revolution,
and I'm not in it for you, Princess.

886
01:34:49,635 --> 01:34:52,600
I expect to be well paid.
I'm in it for the money.

887
01:34:52,800 --> 01:34:58,400
You needn't worry about your reward.
If money
is all that you love,
then that's what you'll receive.

888
01:35:01,200 --> 01:35:06,200
Your friend is quite a mercenary. I wonder if he
really cares about anything... or anybody.

889
01:35:07,400 --> 01:35:08,400
<i>I</i> care.

890
01:35:15,600 --> 01:35:19,200
So... what do you
think of her, Han?

891
01:35:19,600 --> 01:35:21,600
I'm trying not to, kid.

892
01:35:22,200 --> 01:35:23,200
Good.

893
01:35:26,800 --> 01:35:30,000
Still, she's got a lot of spirit.

894
01:35:31,600 --> 01:35:34,800
I dont know... what do you think?
You think a princess and a guy like me...

895
01:35:35,000 --> 01:35:36,000
No.

896
01:36:23,000 --> 01:36:26,200
You're safe. When we heard about
Alderaan, we feared the worst.

897
01:36:26,400 --> 01:36:28,165
We have no time for sorrows,
Commander.

898
01:36:28,200 --> 01:36:32,600
You must use the information in this R2 unit
to help plan the attack. It's our only hope.

899
01:36:54,600 --> 01:36:55,600
Yes.

900
01:36:55,800 --> 01:36:59,400
<i>We're approaching the planet Yavin.
The rebel base is on a moon on the far side. </i>

901
01:36:59,800 --> 01:37:02,400
<i>We are preparing
to orbit the planet. </i>

902
01:37:10,600 --> 01:37:16,600
The battle station is heavily shielded and
carries a firepower greater than half the starfleet.

903
01:37:17,200 --> 01:37:21,600
Its defenses are designed around
a direct large-scale assault.

904
01:37:21,800 --> 01:37:27,200
A small, one-man fighter should be able
to penetrate the outer defense.

905
01:37:28,200 --> 01:37:31,800
Pardon me for asking, sir, but what good
are snub fighters going to be against that?

906
01:37:32,000 --> 01:37:39,000
Well, the Empire doesn't consider a small,
one-man fighter to be any threat or,
they'd have a tighter defense.

907
01:37:39,600 --> 01:37:46,200
An analysis of the plans provided by Princess Leia
has demonstrated a weakness in the battle station.

908
01:37:46,800 --> 01:37:49,400
The approach will not be easy.

909
01:37:49,600 --> 01:37:54,800
You're required to maneuver straight down this
trench and skim the surface to this point.

910
01:37:56,000 --> 01:37:58,600
The target area
is only two meters wide.

911
01:37:58,800 --> 01:38:02,800
It's a small thermal exhaust port
right below the main port.

912
01:38:03,800 --> 01:38:06,600
The shaft leads directly
to the reactor system.

913
01:38:06,800 --> 01:38:11,600
A precise hit will start a chain reaction,
which should destroy the station.

914
01:38:11,800 --> 01:38:15,200
Only a precise hit will
set up a chain reaction.

915
01:38:15,600 --> 01:38:19,000
The shaft is ray-shielded,
so you'll have to use proton torpedoes.

916
01:38:19,200 --> 01:38:20,800
That's impossible,
even for a computer.

917
01:38:21,000 --> 01:38:24,200
It's not impossible. I used to bull's-eye
womp rats in my T-16 back home.

918
01:38:24,235 --> 01:38:27,000
They're not much bigger
than two meters.

919
01:38:27,400 --> 01:38:30,400
Then man your ships,
and may the Force be with you.

920
01:38:38,800 --> 01:38:41,400
<i>Orbiting the planet
at maximum velocity. </i>

921
01:38:42,000 --> 01:38:45,800
<i>The moon with the rebel base
will be in range in 30 minutes. </i>

922
01:38:46,000 --> 01:38:48,400
This will be a day
long remembered.

923
01:38:48,600 --> 01:38:54,000
It has seen the end of Kenobi, and will
soon see the end of the Rebellion.

924
01:38:58,800 --> 01:39:05,600
<i>All flight crews, man your stations.
All flight crews, man your stations. </i>

925
01:39:08,000 --> 01:39:10,400
So, you got your reward
and you're just leaving, then?

926
01:39:10,800 --> 01:39:12,400
That's right. Yeah.

927
01:39:14,200 --> 01:39:16,400
I got some old debts
I gotta pay off with this stuff.

928
01:39:16,800 --> 01:39:19,600
Even if I didn't, you don't think I'd be
fool enough to stick around here, do ya?

929
01:39:21,200 --> 01:39:24,600
Why don't you come with us? You're
pretty good in a fight. We could use ya.

930
01:39:25,000 --> 01:39:29,800
Come on. Why don't you take a look around? You know
what's about to happen, what they're up against.

931
01:39:30,400 --> 01:39:33,000
They could use a good pilot like you.
You're turning your back on them.

932
01:39:33,800 --> 01:39:35,800
What good's a reward
if you ain't around to use it?

933
01:39:36,200 --> 01:39:40,400
Besides, attacking that battle station
ain't my idea of courage. It's more like...

934
01:39:40,435 --> 01:39:42,600
... suicide.

935
01:39:43,400 --> 01:39:48,000
All right. Well, take care of yourself, Han.
I guess that's what you're best at, isn't it?

936
01:39:49,400 --> 01:39:50,800
Hey, Luke.

937
01:39:53,800 --> 01:39:55,600
May the Force be with you.

938
01:40:02,800 --> 01:40:05,800
What are you looking at?
I know what I'm doing.

939
01:40:10,600 --> 01:40:16,000
<i>All pilots to your stations.
All pilots to your stations. </i>

940
01:40:21,600 --> 01:40:23,600
- What's wrong?
- Oh, it's Han.

941
01:40:24,200 --> 01:40:26,200
I don't know.
I really thought he'd change his mind.

942
01:40:26,800 --> 01:40:30,200
He's got to follow his own path.
No one can choose it for him.

943
01:40:31,400 --> 01:40:35,400
I only wish... Ben were here.

944
01:40:53,800 --> 01:40:56,800
This R2 unit of yours seems
a bit beat up. You want a new one?

945
01:40:57,200 --> 01:40:59,800
Not on your life. That little droid and I
have been through a lot together.

946
01:41:00,200 --> 01:41:01,600
You okay, R2?

947
01:41:02,600 --> 01:41:03,800
Good.

948
01:41:08,400 --> 01:41:11,000
Hang on tight, R2.
You've got to come back.

949
01:41:13,200 --> 01:41:16,200
You wouldn't want my life
to get boring, would you?

950
01:42:04,000 --> 01:42:07,400
<i>Luke, the Force will be with you. </i>

951
01:42:19,000 --> 01:42:22,000
<i>Standby alert.
Death Star approaching. </i>

952
01:42:22,200 --> 01:42:25,800
<i>Estimated time to firing range,
15 minutes. </i>

953
01:42:38,600 --> 01:42:39,600
All wings report in.

954
01:42:39,800 --> 01:42:42,100
Red 10 standing by.
- Red Seven standing by.

955
01:42:42,135 --> 01:42:44,400
Red Three standing by.
- Red Six standing by.

956
01:42:44,600 --> 01:42:47,300
Red Nine standing by.
- Red Two standing by.

957
01:42:47,335 --> 01:42:50,000
Red 11 standing by.
- Red Five standing by.

958
01:42:51,400 --> 01:42:53,600
Lock S-foils in attack position.

959
01:42:57,600 --> 01:43:00,600
We're passing through the magnetic field.
- Hold tight.

960
01:43:00,800 --> 01:43:03,400
Switch your deflectors on.
Double front.

961
01:43:07,000 --> 01:43:10,000
Look at the size of that thing.
- Cut the chatter, Red Two.

962
01:43:10,035 --> 01:43:12,000
Accelerate to attack speed.

963
01:43:14,800 --> 01:43:15,800
This is it, boys.

964
01:43:16,200 --> 01:43:17,400
Red Leader, this is Gold Leader.

965
01:43:17,600 --> 01:43:18,800
I copy, Gold Leader.

966
01:43:19,000 --> 01:43:20,600
We're starting for the target shaft now.

967
01:43:20,800 --> 01:43:24,400
We're in position. I'm going to cut
across the axis and try to draw their fire.

968
01:43:38,600 --> 01:43:42,000
- Heavy fire, boss, 23 degrees.
- I see it. Stay low.

969
01:43:49,400 --> 01:43:51,000
This is Red Five.
I'm going in.

970
01:43:55,400 --> 01:43:57,000
Luke, pull up!

971
01:43:58,400 --> 01:44:00,800
- You all right?
- I got a little cooked, but I'm okay.

972
01:44:06,600 --> 01:44:10,400
We count 30 Rebel ships, Lord Vader, but
they're so small they're evading our turbo lasers.

973
01:44:10,435 --> 01:44:14,200
We'll have to destroy them ship to ship.
Get the crews to their fighters.

974
01:44:17,000 --> 01:44:20,800
Watch yourself. There's a lot of fire coming from
the right side of that deflection tower.

975
01:44:21,000 --> 01:44:22,365
I'm on it.

976
01:44:22,400 --> 01:44:25,800
- I'm going in. Cover me, Porkins.
- Im right with you, Red Three.

977
01:44:32,200 --> 01:44:33,600
I've got a problem here.

978
01:44:34,000 --> 01:44:35,400
- Eject.
- I can hold it.

979
01:44:35,600 --> 01:44:38,000
- Pull up!
- No, I'm all right...

980
01:44:42,000 --> 01:44:45,600
<i>The rebel base will be in firing range
in seven minutes. </i>

981
01:44:48,800 --> 01:44:51,600
<i>Luke, trust your feelings. </i>

982
01:44:59,600 --> 01:45:03,200
Squad leaders... we've picked up
a new group of signals.

983
01:45:03,400 --> 01:45:07,000
Enemy fighters coming your way.
- My scope's negative. I don't see anything.

984
01:45:07,035 --> 01:45:09,400
- Pick up your visual scanning.
- Here they come.

985
01:45:12,400 --> 01:45:15,000
Watch it, You've got one on your tail.

986
01:45:19,400 --> 01:45:20,400
I'm hit!

987
01:45:21,600 --> 01:45:23,000
You've picked one up. Watch it.

988
01:45:23,400 --> 01:45:24,000
I can't see it.

989
01:45:26,400 --> 01:45:27,800
He's on me tight.
I can't shake him.

990
01:45:30,000 --> 01:45:30,600
I'll be right there.

991
01:45:44,200 --> 01:45:47,800
Several fighters have broken off
from the main group. Come with me.

992
01:45:53,200 --> 01:45:54,800
Pull in, Luke. Pull in. - Watch your
back, Luke. Watch your back.

993
01:45:54,835 --> 01:45:56,400
Fighters above you, coming in.

994
01:46:03,000 --> 01:46:05,000
I'm hit, but not bad.
R2, see what you can do with it.

995
01:46:05,600 --> 01:46:06,800
Hang on back there.

996
01:46:08,400 --> 01:46:10,400
Red Six, can you see Red Five?

997
01:46:10,600 --> 01:46:13,200
There's a heavy fire zone.
Red Five, where are you?

998
01:46:13,400 --> 01:46:15,000
I can't shake him.

999
01:46:18,400 --> 01:46:20,200
I'm on him, Luke. Hold on!

1000
01:46:23,200 --> 01:46:25,600
Blast it, Biggs.
Where are you?

1001
01:46:32,200 --> 01:46:34,600
- Thanks, Wedge.
- Good shooting, Wedge.

1002
01:46:34,800 --> 01:46:38,200
Red Leader, this is Gold Leader.
We're starting our attack run.

1003
01:46:39,600 --> 01:46:42,200
I copy, Gold Leader.
Move into position.

1004
01:46:44,600 --> 01:46:46,800
Stay in attack formation.

1005
01:46:47,000 --> 01:46:50,200
The exhaust port
is marked and locked in.

1006
01:46:55,600 --> 01:47:02,600
Switch all power to front deflector screen.
Switch all power to front deflector screen.

1007
01:47:06,800 --> 01:47:08,600
How many guns do you think,
Gold Five?

1008
01:47:08,800 --> 01:47:11,800
Say about 20 guns,
some on the surface, some on the towers.

1009
01:47:11,835 --> 01:47:14,200
<i>Death Star will be in range
in five minutes. </i>

1010
01:47:17,000 --> 01:47:19,600
Switch to targeting computer.

1011
01:47:22,200 --> 01:47:24,800
Computer's locked.
Getting a signal.

1012
01:47:27,200 --> 01:47:29,000
The guns. They've stopped.

1013
01:47:30,600 --> 01:47:33,400
Stabilize your rear deflectors.
Watch for enemy fighters.

1014
01:47:33,600 --> 01:47:36,000
They're coming in.
Three marks at 210.

1015
01:47:38,000 --> 01:47:41,000
I'll take them myself. Cover me.
- Yes, sir.

1016
01:47:55,600 --> 01:47:57,000
It's no good. I can't maneuver.

1017
01:47:57,200 --> 01:47:58,200
Stay on target.

1018
01:47:58,400 --> 01:47:59,200
We're too close.

1019
01:47:59,400 --> 01:48:00,400
Stay on target.

1020
01:48:02,200 --> 01:48:03,200
Loosen up!

1021
01:48:06,000 --> 01:48:08,600
Gold Five to Red Leader,
lost Tiree, lost Hutch.

1022
01:48:09,000 --> 01:48:11,400
- I copy, Gold Leader.
- They came from behind.

1023
01:48:18,000 --> 01:48:22,000
We've analyzed their attack, sir, and there is a
danger. Should I have your ship standing by?

1024
01:48:22,400 --> 01:48:27,600
Evacuate? In our moment of triumph?
I think you overestimate their chances.

1025
01:48:28,400 --> 01:48:30,400
<i>Rebel base,
three minutes and closing. </i>

1026
01:48:31,400 --> 01:48:33,200
Red boys, this is Red Leader.

1027
01:48:33,235 --> 01:48:35,165
Rendezvous at mark 6. 1.

1028
01:48:35,200 --> 01:48:38,200
- This is Red Two flying toward you.
- Red Three standing by.

1029
01:48:39,000 --> 01:48:43,200
Red Leader, this is Base One. Keep half your
group out of range for the next run.

1030
01:48:43,400 --> 01:48:46,165
Copy, Base One.
Luke, take Red Two and Three.

1031
01:48:46,200 --> 01:48:48,800
Hold up here and wait for
my signal to start your run.

1032
01:48:58,400 --> 01:48:59,400
This is it.

1033
01:49:03,800 --> 01:49:04,800
We should be able
to see it by now.

1034
01:49:07,200 --> 01:49:09,200
Keep your eyes open
for those fighters.

1035
01:49:11,000 --> 01:49:13,400
There's too much interference. Red Five,
can you see them from where you are?

1036
01:49:13,600 --> 01:49:17,000
- No sign of any... Wait. Coming in. 35.
- I see them.

1037
01:49:18,200 --> 01:49:19,600
I'm in range.

1038
01:49:20,600 --> 01:49:22,200
Target's coming up.

1039
01:49:24,800 --> 01:49:27,400
Just hold them off
for a few seconds.

1040
01:49:27,800 --> 01:49:29,400
Close up formation.

1041
01:49:31,200 --> 01:49:33,200
Almost there.

1042
01:49:41,800 --> 01:49:43,800
You better let her loose. They're right behind me.

1043
01:49:44,000 --> 01:49:45,800
Almost there.

1044
01:49:46,600 --> 01:49:47,800
I can't hold them.

1045
01:49:56,400 --> 01:49:58,000
It's away!

1046
01:50:01,600 --> 01:50:05,600
It's a hit!
- Negative. Negative. It didn't go in.

1047
01:50:05,800 --> 01:50:08,200
It just impacted on the surface.

1048
01:50:14,600 --> 01:50:18,800
Red Leader, we're right above you.
Turn to.05. We'll cover for you.

1049
01:50:19,000 --> 01:50:21,800
Stay there. I just lost
my starboard engine.

1050
01:50:22,800 --> 01:50:25,000
Get set up for your attack run.

1051
01:50:29,400 --> 01:50:32,000
Yeeeaahh!

1052
01:50:38,200 --> 01:50:40,600
<i>Rebel base, one minute and closing. </i>

1053
01:50:41,600 --> 01:50:43,000
Biggs, Wedge, let's close it up.

1054
01:50:43,200 --> 01:50:46,600
We're going in. We're going in full throttle.
That ought to keep those fighters off our back.

1055
01:50:46,635 --> 01:50:48,000
Right with you, boss.

1056
01:50:48,800 --> 01:50:51,200
Luke, at that speed,
will you be able to pull out in time?

1057
01:50:51,400 --> 01:50:53,400
It'll be just like Beggars
Canyon back home.

1058
01:51:00,600 --> 01:51:02,400
We'll stay back
far enough to cover you.

1059
01:51:02,600 --> 01:51:05,400
My scope shows the tower,
but I can't see the exhaust port.

1060
01:51:05,600 --> 01:51:07,000
Are you sure
the computer can hit it?

1061
01:51:10,400 --> 01:51:13,800
Watch yourself. Increase speed, full
throttle. What about that tower?

1062
01:51:14,000 --> 01:51:16,400
You worry about those fighters.
I'll worry about the tower.

1063
01:51:23,000 --> 01:51:26,400
R2, that, that stabilizer's broken loose
again. See if you can't lock it down.

1064
01:51:35,800 --> 01:51:37,600
Fighters coming in. Point 3.

1065
01:51:46,400 --> 01:51:47,800
I'm hit. I can't stay with you.

1066
01:51:48,000 --> 01:51:51,000
Get clear, Wedge, you can't do any
more good back there. - Sorry.

1067
01:51:52,600 --> 01:51:54,400
Let him go.
Stay on the leader.

1068
01:51:57,400 --> 01:51:59,800
Hurry, Luke. They're coming in much
faster this time. We can't hold them!

1069
01:52:03,600 --> 01:52:05,200
R2, try and increase the power.

1070
01:52:11,800 --> 01:52:13,800
Hurry up, Luke!

1071
01:52:14,000 --> 01:52:14,800
Wait!
- Quick!

1072
01:52:22,000 --> 01:52:24,400
<i>Rebel base, 30 seconds and closing. </i>

1073
01:52:24,800 --> 01:52:26,600
I'm on the leader.

1074
01:52:29,600 --> 01:52:31,000
Hang on, R2.

1075
01:52:46,600 --> 01:52:49,200
<i>Use the Force, Luke. </i>

1076
01:52:52,000 --> 01:52:54,000
<i>Let go, Luke. </i>

1077
01:52:55,400 --> 01:52:57,400
The Force is strong with this one.

1078
01:52:58,200 --> 01:53:00,000
<i>Luke, trust me. </i>

1079
01:53:05,400 --> 01:53:06,600
His computer's off.

1080
01:53:06,800 --> 01:53:09,200
Luke, you switched off your
targeting computer. What's wrong?

1081
01:53:09,400 --> 01:53:11,600
<i>Nothing. I'm all right. </i>

1082
01:53:25,000 --> 01:53:26,600
<i>I've lost R2. </i>

1083
01:53:28,000 --> 01:53:32,600
<i>The Death Star has cleared the planet.
The Death Star has cleared the planet. </i>

1084
01:53:33,400 --> 01:53:37,200
Rebel base in range.
- You may fire when ready.

1085
01:53:37,800 --> 01:53:40,000
<i>Commence primary ignition. </i>

1086
01:53:53,400 --> 01:53:55,200
I have you now.

1087
01:53:57,200 --> 01:53:58,200
What?

1088
01:53:58,400 --> 01:54:00,000
Yeah hoo!

1089
01:54:01,000 --> 01:54:02,000
Look out.

1090
01:54:08,800 --> 01:54:11,600
You're all clear, kid.
Now let's blow this thing and go home.

1091
01:54:18,400 --> 01:54:20,600
<i>Stand by. </i>

1092
01:54:23,400 --> 01:54:25,200
<i>Stand by. </i>

1093
01:54:34,800 --> 01:54:37,800
Great shot, kid!
That was one in a million!

1094
01:54:38,400 --> 01:54:41,800
<i>Remember, the Force
will be with you, always. </i>

1095
01:55:06,800 --> 01:55:08,000
Hey! Hey!

1096
01:55:08,200 --> 01:55:09,765
I just knew you'd come back. I just knew it!

1097
01:55:09,800 --> 01:55:12,200
Well, I wasn't gonna let you get all
the credit and take all the reward.

1098
01:55:12,400 --> 01:55:15,000
Hey, I knew there was
more to you than money.

1099
01:55:15,200 --> 01:55:16,200
Oh, no.

1100
01:55:16,600 --> 01:55:20,800
Oh, my. Artoo, can you hear me?
Say something.

1101
01:55:21,200 --> 01:55:24,400
You can repair him, can't you?
- We'll get to work on him right away.

1102
01:55:24,800 --> 01:55:28,800
You must repair him. Sir, if any of my circuits
or gears will help, I'll gladly donate them.

1103
01:55:29,000 --> 01:55:30,400
He'll be all right.

You could repair the numbering issue using TimeAdjuster (free prog, very usefull).
I know that the numbering does not affect anything, but just for reasons of perfection you might want to know this....
And now, for your feature presentation:
The Classic Re-re-re-release of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back.
In this version the word "WOOKIE" has been changed to "HAIR CHALLENGED ANIMAL" and the entire cast has been digitally replaced by Ewoks.

Ok, cool. Good to know for next time. I really like DVD Sub Edit too. It lets you do basically anything (other than editing the text since by that point it's not really text anymore) with the subs within the vob files. You can move them around, even make them all in different positions, different colors for each subtitle. You can also adjust the timing and decide if you want the subtitles to be forced or not. The one thing I couldn't figure out was how to make two steams show at the same time, so I had to make two sets of Greedo subs, one inside the main subs and another by itself.

Now if we could just get a realigned subtitle file of "Backstroke of the West" to use with the official release Episode III DVD.
