That is VERY awesome...thanks for the post. Too bad the price is so crazy. I would be in for a contribution.
Hey guys, I don’t really post that much here, but it does seem like people here are interested in unusual Star Wars related material, so I thought I’d post this for those who haven’t seen it:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EditDroid-1984-VERY-RARE-DEMO-laserdisc-SW-Return-of-the-Jedi-OUTTAKES-Scene-50-/141065212829?pt=US_Laserdisc&hash=item20d824539d
It does mention that this is a “generic Scotch Videodisc” (I don’t know if LaserDisc recorders exist or not, and whether another one will just turn up again after this one is sold!) - however, it also mentions that around 15 - 20 mins of raw footage is included, which was apparently never commercially released. I figured this might interest at least someone here. Unfortunately, this seller doesn’t just want an arm and a leg for this disc, he wants the whole right hand side of your body.
If I’m not back in five minutes, just wait longer!

Damn, i wish someone could get this to preserve it. What a rarity. But too pricey for me
EDIT: If all goes well we may well have this in our hands.
Holy Bantha Poodoo! The things that turn up these days. I don't think any editdroid discs have ever come on the market before.
It might be the paused footage glimpsed here in 1984...

It's a pressed disc, not one of those rare recordables, so no compatibility issues with consumer LD players.

That's pretty amazing!

Well the item has now sold. I'm going to take a wild guess and say you had something to do with it? haha. (Fingers crossed, by the way!)

No, it wasn't me. but we do have a good chance of getting it now
Well, that makes no sense to me, but it sounds like good news anyway! Any hints on who grabbed it? Any chance that someone who is still faithfully plugging away at a deleted scene project could get a copy of such a preservation?
We now have our hands on this laserdisc. Had some problems playing it at first due to surface damage but that's been fixed. There is 29mins 52seconds of footage on it. Different takes and various angles from the Yoda hut scene and apparently stuff that wasn't in the final film. The audio is supposed to be pretty good and clean. I'll let you know more as soon as possible (it's with our guy in the USA at the moment so i haven't had a chance to see any of it yet).
Exciting !
Our guy who has the disc has just set up a facebook page for this if anyone is interested:

I'm very excited for this!
A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.
I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

I signed up for the FB page. I am excited as well.
The big question is: How did the previous owner get his/her hands on it?!

This definately looks promising. Keep us posted!
Ugh. So are we only going to get facebook clips? Probably with the logo all over it?

I think Ady plans to release it along with ROTJ:R... or something.

Had I known about this, I would have bid. And I would have paid more than $700 for it. That's nothing.

I'm just glad an OT user got it! :-)

Just be thankful we can share anything. The disc was in pretty bad shape and unplayable when the guy got it. The video skipped all over the place. plus he only got it delivered today so this And the logo isn't that intrusive anyway. They're just facebook clips. This was just a quick capture. How much we will be able to share, i really don't know yet.
That is amazing and that is a pressed disc not a rare recordable. Silverwook is right
Remember, Highlander, you’ve both still got your full measure of life. Use it well, and your future will be glorious.
This really is great, many thanks for sharing! I've also liked the FB page and will keep my eye on it for regular updates.
Shame to hear that the disc had to have work done on it before it started playing, which is really strange; I thought the eBay seller stated that it was "VG" condition?

yeh, we were pretty pissed about that. It's still not 100% fixed yet. But we only really had 2 choices; return it to the seller and demand a refund or try to fix the damage and get at least some footage off there, so we chose the latter. Having at least some footage off there is a lot better than nothing and having it fall back into obscurity.
Can you take a picture of the damage to the disc surface? LD's are usually more robust than DVD in taking a lot of abuse before becoming unplayable.
No obvious signs of disc rot?
If all else fails, I would think someone over at the LDDB forums could be of help here.
