Info: R2-D2 Toy Box - Dumpster Find

So we were driving past the dumpsters the other day, and someone had left a mattress, a baby stroller, some other misc. baby things, and an R2-D2 sitting next to them. We hesitated for a bit, wondering exactly what the droid was, and then circled back around and quickly smuggled him into the trunk. Didn’t get a chance to look at him until last night.

Apparently he’s one of these, but in better condition: http://theswca.com/index.php?action=disp_item&item_id=23240

One of his “feet” is broken off (but most of it is included, could possibly be glued back together), but I’m not sure how many wheels are supposed to be there. I found one picture showing three wheels, but it looks like there are supposed to be four. This one only has two.

Can’t believe the things people throw away, sometimes =) Best part is, he still has that vintage toy chest smell.

Now you know what it's like to be a Jawa! ;)

I used to have one of these, but I honestly can't remember the number of wheels. Always was a little wobbly though.

IIRC, this was part of a line from a company that mostly made kid sized furniture. The rest were tables, desks, and bookcases with ROTJ or Ewok graphics plastered on them.

Where were you in '77?

I have one of those! It's in pretty bad shape, one of the wheels falls off and the metal bar in the front is broken. But I've always been proud of it as I'd never seen another!
