Yes, I meant the anchor Bay version. I gt the single Disc of Hellraiser 3 for about €10 from Amazon.co.uk and I was very pleased.

That there is a open matted version in the Box set, I didn't know.

This month a german Hellraiser IV release with the raw-print version of the movie and some specials should come out, it was delayed last month. Hope it come...

I'll eat my hat if the extras in that German SE are licensed and official.  The workprint's been on the bootleg circuit for a little while now (you can read all about it in the forums on www.cenobite.com); it's not Kevin Yagher's original cut, and to honest is worse than the final version.

As far as I know this german release is not a bootleg release and its not from a bootlegging company.

I will insert infos as soon as I know anything new.

Look in Swizz and Austria Internet Stores. In Germany it can't be sold online this easy, as far as I know. But it is extremly limited (666 pieces.. as far as I know)... there should be a smaller Version without all this gimmicks, but with all three discs...

www.dtm.at is a store with this edition.

the normal three disc edition is much cheaper.. the above shown monster box is abou 60 Euro thats about 76 $

the smaller set is about 30 Euro... (38 $)

I try to get the smaller set for myself..

Its without gimmicks, but with all three discs.

I think there is some shipping fees. But I didn't order there, yet.

I ordered the smaller set for about 40 Euro, but at a german store with non Internet buy.

EDIT and WARNING:

I saw some pictures taken from the DVDs of this Set.

The image quality is.. lets stay true: sh*t

You are better done with buying some other uncut version with better image.

The quality of the workprint is really, really bad. The images me saw look like taken from a youtube clip.

German DVD production at its worst!!!

Thanks alot for the heads up,so which version would you recommend?

I can't really recommend a version. I saw just some pictures comparing the german 3 disc release with some other release.

I was on vacation the last week, so I could'nt answer.

Okay, the German 3 Disc set includes the so called Workprint and the normal uncut version. (The normal movie was cut in germany long time) but the quality of the Workprint ist really bad. Like a very old VHS Tape. The normal Version is not good either. I thing almost every other non german release should have better picture.

If you really want the Workprint on DVD there seems just to be the german release :( . If you want the normal Movie, without need of the Workprint.. then I would suggest you try US release.

If you want the workprint AND the movie in good quality.. ju have to buy the 3 Disc edition from germany and another release.

Now I am looking for a good non german release to get the movie in better quality. Maybe I give the NL single Disc a try.

The "Workprint" in the German release has just a running time of about 70 minutes.

well,i'm afraid MrBrown is wrong about that.

i just received my monster box and i can tell you it runs 01:19:44.

quality,on the other hand,is really rought. To get an idea ,it is the exact / same master that you can see on youtube and probably the one "floating around".So it is not the ealier Yagher's cut.....

about the 4/3 and 16/9 versions,4/3 is open matte and as you can see below have some differences in colors

sorry for my english...

This month my UK Disc with the normal Movie should arrive, then we could see the quality difference in the normal movie.

But I still think the movie, not only the Workprint, looks not really well. The Bad thing: there is a not that bad master for the normal movie, in Germany. It was used for the LaserDisc and the cut Version from the Label "MAWA"

Here are a quality example (found on cinefacts.de):

WS '84:

FS'84:

MAWA:

Thats why I say, that the '84 DVD is.. bad quality.

as promised.. here is a shot from the UK (hope i match the other three shots )

and here is some random shot from the Worprint Version include in the german 3 Disc set:

..as you see.. the workprint ist really not in a talk about quality...

but the UK seems to have not as sharp quality as the german MAWA Disc, which is somebit cut.

Well I just got in the mail today The Island, evidently it was ONLY released on DVD in Germany,so I have another PAL2NTSC Custom DVD to do,and it is uncut and in the correct aspect ratio of 2.35:1 anamorphic.

been a long time since I have watched this, and from what I remember it was a pretty damn good Michael Caine movie.

I bought the Netherland Double DVD of Stephen Kings "Golden Years"

It seems that one of the Netherland Editions comes along in the TV Cut. With a running time of about 360 minutes in PAL.

Here is a German Overview for this Edition. I belive the main aspects are understandable even without knowing German.

But there is another release in the Netherlands with the normal Cut. It seems to has the actuall CBS/Paramount Stephen King Design.

As far as I know the TV Cut was only avaible on LaserDisc in USA, but I can be wrong.

Again I found something maybe containing more than US releases.

Its the German DVD of "Phantom Raiders" from 1988 with Miles O'Keeffe. It is a very boring Movie in my opinion. On the german DVD it is stated, that the US version lacks of many bad words. The DVD announce to have an english Audio Track (2.0) containing these words. I don't know IF  the US on DVD is censored.

Maybe someone owning it (I really don't belief this) ore knowing the Movie (I would wonder if). If someone owns the US DVD, maybe he could tell if the audio track seems to be edited.

Just to let everyone know, THE ISLAND is also out in Australia too; you can find it on ebay.com for @ $15.00 usually.  It is R4, PAL and 2.35:1 anamorphically enhanced.  Looks fantastic (well, until the blu-ray comes out)!

Now that is good to know, but the German release looks and sounds damn good to,but it was a few dollars more than $15

Not the version with Ewan Mcgregor,I was talking about the older version with Michael Caine,I did not see this one at ebay.com.au

Here is a link over at amazon.com, and another at devoteddvd.com.au.  It essentially has the same cover art as the german Koch release, so many on the forums think that Umbrella just ported the German print for the Australian dvd release.

Speaking of which, other than making a true conversion from PAL to NTSC (Dark Jedi, I know you posted a link to a thread dealing with making bonafide conversions; if you still have that, you may want to post it here), is there any way to get a PS3 to play PAL movies and/or other region codes yet (ala cheat code or what-not)?  I can understand Sony not wanting region coding to be disabled, but it kinda pisses me off that they won't allow PAL playback - this IS the year 2009, and I would think compatibility with all sources of video would be a good point to sell on...

But hey!  What do I know about corporate mindsets... I'm poor!

yea that looks to be exactly the same as the German KOCH release,so I already have it,and as far as a guide,Doctor M has a very long, extensive guide here now,his guide deals with the whole DVD menu's and all,I basically just do the main feature, and possibly extra's if they are worthwhile,I don't have the patience to do an entire DVD,I get real bored fast, plus the movie is really my only care anyhow,I actually do not watch extra's alot and really could care less about a menu,I like to just put the DVD in and go LOL.

oh and about PS3 playing PAL,I really have no idea on that one.

I wonder to hear that the US PS3 does not playing PAL. The european PS3 plays NTSC fine, the only problems are the region coded DVDs, but for that I just do an 1:1 otr a downshrink to DVD5 for my private usage from my own DVDs without region coding...

Have you ever tried some Region codefree PAL disc, if its just the region coding prob?

Edit: I just read some forums, to find that it is impossible fore NTSC PS3 to watch PAL DVDs. O.o

The Asian PS3 is stated to have Firmware allowing watching PAL...
