The colors seem to be identical to the first rental VHS.
And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as the Son of the Suns.
ok, finished watching return of the jedi,
i think it came out the best... about 97% was
very clean, and there are a few glitches and
skips, but it's not worth trying to recapture
for those parts..
jedi is good because its not time compressed,
so it sounds and looks right.. the colors are
dull, but that's how it was encoded..
i think i can make one decent version
of empire strikes back... there are glitches
in both versions..
i'll check star wars again, and work on fixing
and encoding them..

If Jedi is not time compressed like the first issue laserdisc pan and scan i am very much interested in it. Is this the white caddy or blue caddy version? Never found out the difference i have the rarer white one and both discs.
“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.
As far as I know, white caddies were Mono, and blue were Stereo.

The white and blue caddies were sometimes mixed up in the waning years of the format. RCA kept releasing new titles for a few years after they ceased production on the players, so it's possible they were simply using what caddies were left in stock regardless of the film label they glued on.
I've seen discs with blue outer shells and white inner sleeves and vice versa.
All mono CED releases of stereo films are clearly marked as such on the back label. "Mono sound for videodisc." Early players and titles were all mono, one thing that gave Laserdisc an early advantage.
The OT CED releases were all stereo.
Where were you in '77?
finished watching the 2nd star wars
transfer, the FOX version... it's about 90%
glitch free... so a few scenes will be replaced
with the ones from the CBS version.
the colors are way off. the whites, and yellows
are blown out, and the brightness seems pretty
high..... still fun to watch a full frame version...
will take some time to fix it..

Take your time. I look forward to whenever this thing is ready.
Here's a white caddy Jedi set with the rest of the OT, if you're still looking for them?

Here is a sealed one. I've never seen one that is sealed. It's only got about 4 hours left as of right now.
Luke threw twice…maybe.

It's not exactly 'sealed', though.
The side is open**...so you could easily slip the plastic on & off.

i'm almost done with combining the
2 versions of the empire strikes back
into one good one...
i've removed about 10 glitches from it..
now of course there are still some in there,
but it is about 97% complete... i took the original
versions, and split it into 2 avi files... 640x480.
they are time compressed though..
no color or any filtering or cleanup..
i'll post samples shortly, and then let you know
when it's done, you can pm me for the links and share
it anywhere else you want after that..

ok,
return of the jedi is done now.
i have left it in 3 parts, so that
it is more like the original release..
it's a very good quality version that
doesn't have time compressed video
or audio.. considering how old the source
is..
here's pictures of all 3 parts:
=====================
i'm uploading all 3 parts now..
again, pm me for the links, and specify which ones
you want..
i'll have video clips for all of them shortly..

I'm digging these releases almost as much as my JSC laserdiscs. There isn't much noise in the picture considering it is an analog medium. Did you do some post processing on these to reduce noise?
EDIT: Nevermind I should have read up the whole thread first before asking about the post processing. I'm impressed that these are raw captures except for the compression.

ok,
it took awhile, there were about 20+ glitches
that had to be fixed, but i'm done with star wars,
and am checking it now, before uploading it....
still a few minor ones in there that can't be helped.
i used both versions to combine into one good one..
here's the pics preview...[note, the final video resolution
will be the same aspect ratio, but 640x480]
=========
will post links and clips once the video is converted,
and uploaded.

looks like there is audio desync issue
in parts 2/3 of jedi, that happened in
the encode.. i'll be fixing that shortly.
sorry.

well that was quick, resynched audio and will
upload fixed versions

just finalizing star wars and will

ok, re-uploaded the two parts that are out of sync..
for return of the jedi CED v1.1,
and star wars v1.0 is done also..
=====================================
pm me, and i'll send all the links..
------------------------------------------
i've resent links for the whole trilogy to everyone
that has requested them
------------------------------------------
in my opinion, the preservation of star wars,
and return of the jedi are the best, with the
least amount of major glitches... empire is ok,
but has some major ones... in all cases, they are
still 97% watchable...
enjoy and share..
