I was wondering if anyone has gotten the email from TR47 stating that orders for the OT he's sending out are being delayed due to a "production capability upgrade" within the next few days? The email goes on to say not to email him asking for any updates as there will be no more contact. I normally don't send money to people I don't know personally, but I took a chance with him due to all the positive things people have said about him on these boards. Now I'm getting a little nervous. Anyone??

I've ordered the set from TR47 a week ago, but I haven't heard from him. I read earlier that he's a pretty busy guy, and I don't want to bother him or anything...just wondering if you guys have heard anything, since some of you seem to correspond with him pretty often. I have no problem waiting, I'd just like to hear what the status is, you know? I'd feel really bad if there was something wrong...

Thanks TR47. I'll wait patiently for you to get things straightened out. BTW, 'THEY LIVE' is one of my favorite movies and I was relieved to see it re-released on DVD recently. Great flik. Now if they'd only release 'YELLOWBEARD' on DVD, I'd be happy! Thanks again and keep up the good work!

Hey Laserman,

I was wondering (as I'm sure many others are) how your OT transfers are coming along. The time and care you're putting into these make them sound VERY promising. I'd love a dual-layer set of those (+R or - R, either is good for me) for sure.
I was also wondering if you'd be willing to make an "anamorphic" set out of them as well as a non-enhanced version. Personally I'd like to have both so I can have the best quality possible now and also when I get a widescreen TV in the (hopefully) not too distant future.

I'm trying to watch it but with both my kids going crazy it's hard ~

BUT - THIS is NOT an offical review but just a teaser....................

The Picture is awesome so far the colors are the BEST I've seen yet and DAMN they look clean @ 2x zoom they still look very good @ 3x zoom you say damn this is a good transfer (good job on the the VBR and color correction is perfect!)

The FACES set was used for this trasfer....

The audio is the best feature yet!

3 audio formats

LPCM - OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH damn was it gooooooooood!
WOW ~ This is a great sounding PCM - much like the TR47 set it sounds perfect - It would be hard to screw this up

AC3 Dolby Digital 5.1 - THE BEST 5.1 EVER ~ It really only sounds like a perfect conversion - there is NO fake rear steering just a WONDERFUL re-encode of the original PCM - CHEERS to you on that! (it's a little quite but most DD 5.1 is)

AC3 Dolby Digital 2.0 -
And the commentary is CLEAN it sounds awesome intermitten but still awesome!

THERE IS SO SO MUCH MORE... I will be posting that later --- I wanna get back to watching it!

Okay, I only just started lurking 'round here as of about two weeks or so ago but DAMN....now I'm excited! Rikter's first impressions of MeBeJedi's disk already has me salivating and itching to get ahold of a copy meself. Looking forward to the full review.

Well, like I said, my Def. Col. set isn't a good copy, so there wasn't much choice. Nonetheless, the Faces set is an excellent transfer as well. In fact, I ran across this recently...

Definitive Collection: One drawback to this CAV set is that the first film suffers from too much noise reduction (for an example of this see Luke's lightsaber during his training with the remote onboard the Millennium Falcon). This problem was fixed with the subsequent CLV release

Faces Set: Uses the same letterbox transfer as the "Definitive Collection" CAV box set, only with the noise reduction greatly reduced. Presented on two CLV discs (with a gatefold jacket) - Davis DVD versions list


So, it would appear that there are two strikes against my Def. Col. set.

Actually, there was a third strike as well - the commentary track had sudden audio drop-outs and sudden volume changes. Luckily, Sony Vegas was able to level these out for me, and it sounds almost natural again. BTW, when the commentary is done, you can just chapter skip to the end and go back to the menu.

Good job, indeed. That disc is 99.9% full.

Well, in the end, I took the advice and dropped the brightness to -5 below the original transfer (before I had it at +10/+15). This brought two advantages: better overall detail (i.e. this is why the zoom looks so good), and almost no visible matte boxes in the space scenes.I realized what a good decision it was when I finally noticed that Leia's "white" outfit is actually cream-colored next to the stormtroopers on the Tantive. I look for those kinds of subtleties.

Lol, I know. You've no idea how much I had to crank up the volume on that track, and it's still noticeably quieter.

Anyways, I'm glad you liked it. It means a lot, coming from someone who has seen so many different versions. I had nothing to compare it to other than the original LD's.

DUDE - I love your menus - while not as "Hollywood" as the anamorphic set they are perfect real basic great layout and the commentary menu is SO AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will actaully really watch the commentary as you've made it SO easy to watch with the commentaryt selection menu.

Wow, MeBeJedi, I think Rikter's going to pee himself a little over your copy.

I'm really excited to see what all he's gushing about. My projector and receiver are getting a workout from the official DVDs on Friday (yay for early shipping!), but I'm saving space in the queue for these. Do you have the specs for the discs for people to put on custom covers? I think the folks over in the custom cover thread might like the challenge of a new set to work their magic on.

Well, Rik, I am excited about your response to that disc! I am dying to see it. If you make covers for them, it would be great if you could make them available to compliment your covers set (which I got via torrent - THANKS!)

So will you go guys be using the retail DVD menus in future productions?

They look better than any fan made menu ever could, the only problem I've found is 2 chapters need excising, and 7 (arguably 10) chapters need video replacements.
