I get another tripod error saying that Tripod hosts this and it is not available for download.

You might be seeing it fine because your browser is likely reading from cache memory.

sorry, but when i say "people are selling" copies of pre se trilogy why do you assume im talking about you?? i posted those links because people (you in particular) were saying torrentbox was down. not sure why that makes you think i want to buy tk47s copies (i posted links so people DONT have to buy it) and i know what b&p is.

I was thinking of sending you some of those nice looking Verbatim discs that look like actual movie reels. Real cool! Let me know when you're ready to burn all 4 DVD-R's. I'll send mine asap. Do you have a problem shipping to Canada like TR47 does?

I will ship to Canada...or I should say...as long as you put enough postage on the package, you shouldn't have a problem. I'm just dropping it in the mailbox.

I always use TDK discs. Never had a problem with any of my players and I have 3.

Well, your post seemed to completely disregard my offer. Personally...i don't know why people would want to leave their computer on for days on end when they could just send some discs out with $3 postage and get it. But to each his own.

My downloads works fine, but man is this slow. 4 hours to download 1% (about 40 Mb). It feels like i'm back to my old 56k modem again. Isn't there some way to make it go faster, I mean I have uploaded more than I have downloaded. Is that even possible? Guess so.

not sure how i disregarded your offer.....was trying to help you complete your download, not to mention help other people who already started at torrentbox...how can you do b&p's if you dont finish? not to mention im assuming youd rather not have an endless stream of requests. ..to be honest i thought i was helping you out

Does anyone know where to get a hold of the bootleg of the original Original 1977 version of ANH?

I saw the trilogy shown on the big screen of a local campus about 12 or 13 years ago. Empire and Jedi were basically identical to the versions we were familiar with on video, but A New Hope had lots of little differences. I wish I had paid more attention at the time, or made notes of what was different, but unfortunately now all I have to go on is my limited memory. I've searched books/internet in the past trying to determine what version I saw, but never could tell for sure.

Here's what I can remember:

    * The film was shown cropped to Academy ratio or something close to it. I don't know enough about film to know what that indicates about the format of the film (16mm?) or whether it gives anything away to someone familiar with the history of Star Wars releases. ie where would a print in that format have come from, were they rare enough for that to help track it down or not?

    * I do *not* recall one way or the other whether "A New Hope" appeared in the opening crawl or not. Though I vaguely recall when discussing it with friends afterwards, someone mentioning that the crawl itself was re-aligned differently. As far as I know, this would fit in with it having been the original 77 version.

    * Multiple different takes or line readings used, especially Aunt Beru & C3PO. I have heard that Beru's dialogue was completely re-looped by a different actress after the initial release. I wouldn't go so far as to say that I thought this was a different voice, but it definitely wasn't exactly the same. Examples that stick in my memory are when she says to Owen "He can't stay here forever, most of his friends have gone." In the video versions and re-releases, this line is said pretty flat and straightforward. In this version though, she put some weird emphasis on the words "friends" and "gone", drawing them out longer and making the whole sentence sound creepy. Also in "Teh Uncoh if he gets a translator..." I think she properly pronounced her L's.

    * I think there was something different about the "Look sir, droids" bit, but I may be mis-remembering.

    * I have no memory of whether or not C3PO said his line about the 7 locations of the power coupling whatnot.

I know that's not much to go on, but does anyone have any clue what I'm babbling about? Anyone that's seen the '77 version able to comment on the possibility that this is somehow what I saw? And to keep us on topic, I'll ask again if anyone knows where I can get a copy of that dvd-r to compare for myself?

OK, if you got the tracker error, try this. Although when you register for filesoup you can immediately get into the forums, you will still get an email that instructs you to activate your account. Do that--after I activated the accound my torrent download worked.

Also, good news: my previous download from the suprnova.org torrent seems to be the one now on filesoup, so that's 30% already done and more bits to add to the torrent pool. My upload is at maximum so somebody out there is benefiting.

I don't mind being inundated with requests. I'm happy to help.

but thank you for the help. I haven't had a problem for a couple of days now. It should still be downloading when I get home. I guess we'll see. Tonight Empire will be done...and hopefully tomorrow, Jedi. So this weekend I will give out all my informaiton and people can start sending their stuff in!

heh, well, at the very least, ppl with dvd burners should pass the copies along to whoever else wants em.

btw, digitalfreak, are you gonna send out the bonus material too? also, how can you d/l it so fast when I only get 4k a sec?

I will be making copies of whatever people want. I have the supplements disc and if you want that, you send 4 discs instead of 3. Oh and btw...I have the Making of Star Wars and Empire on DVD as well. Mastered from the laserdisc.

Empire is done. Just waiting for Jedi now.

You guys crack my $hit up. Your spending hours and hours of your life trying to get these Torrent files to download when you could have just dropped 30 bux for the TR47 discs and been done with it.

I've said it before and I’ll say it again. Star Wars fans are nuts, I know because I'm one of them. It never fails to amaze me how much people will pay for these movies. I put up a set of Pre SE DVD+R's on EBay and only Star Wars worked. Jedi and Empire were so scratched up that you couldn't get them to play more than 15 minutes into the movies. And that was after I had them resurfaced. So they bought two coasters and a copy of Star Wars. I got 85 bux for the set and positive feedback.

Go figure.

It takes no effort for me to leave my computer on. I'd rather leave it on and get an ANAMORPHIC transfer with menus than to give my money to someone who's obviously ripping people off. It's a matter of principle. I'm not spending another dime on this trilogy unless it's official.

And btw...he's charging $40.
And it's not the same version as this.
