This thread was original about a preservation of various editions of the film “Thunderball” from Laserdisc sources. Since then, I have decided to do preservations of all the classic Bond films made from the year 1962 to 1971.

If anyone is asking why I am using the THX Laserdisc for my video transfer and not the new Ultimate Edition DVD...

Take a look here.

Well I'm sorry, but I like the deeper darker tones on the actors skin, and not that new washed out look on the new print.

Where has that Island Tan gone Mr. Bond?

In order to make this project work with a number of soundtracks, some speed changes are going to have to be done to the video in places to keep in sync with the original Mono audio. These changes will degrade the video files a bit, and i would rather work with newly made AVI files made via the Main Concepts DV codec. I am also seeing a bit more picture info on the laserdisc...

Just when I thought I had all of the must have Bond DVDs but one (OHMSS ABC cut), You announce this one. This is great, I now have something to look forward to. I have yet to see a fanfiltration edit that I did not like. I can hardly wait.

This Bond project should be something very special for fans, and I am placing quality of picture and audio at the top of my list.

Let it be known that this is not just a flyby night project, and that I've been working on the restoration of the very rare
International Mono Soundtrack on and off for close to a year now. The audio was taken from a pristine Hi-Fi VHS tape (circa
1984) that was placed by me on to Digital Hi-8 tape last year.

The re-edit of the music soundtrack was done by me close to 4 years ago now, and is just now being added to the video.
(This project has been a dream of mine for a very long time)

The original U.S. mono soundtrack will be taken from a (mono) THX Laserdisc edition of the title (but not the MGM/UA's THX-approved CAV collector's edition boxed set that was re-mixed to stereo surround).

With the title, I think that ""INTERNATIONAL CUT" is more accurately descriptive.

This DVD will focus on the version of "Thunderball" that was shown in theaters outside the United States.

I used "Forgotten Bond" in the thread title to kind of play off "Banned Bond"

It also looks like the new so called "Ultimate Edtion" will not offer the French mono soundtrack, so it looks like the Fanfiltration edition will have to fill that gap!

Well, I guess you are now freed up on some space. I've been following a series of DVD reviews counting down to the release of the new Bond Ultimate Edition DVDs here in Australia. They put up one review each day and the latest is "The Living Daylights". The "Happy Anniversary 007" documentary is on the new UE DVD for this film and runs at about 48mins (PAL). So, looks like you don't need to put it on this set.

I'd also just like to say that I am really looking forward to this and the Banned Bonds. When I can afford to get my hands on them I know they're going to be excellent.

You should not have to pay for any of that Banned Bond Fan stuff!
