The Thief and the Cobbler - Recobbled Director's Cut - Revised Mark II, by ocpmovie

This is NOT a retail version. It's not any of the stomped-upon kiddie-only versions.

It is a painstaking visual & audio reconstruction of what was originally intended by famed
animator Richard Wiliams ("Who Framed Roger Rabbit").

With the workprint as a guide, many rare sources were used to give us the best (currently)
possible look at what SHOULD have been seen (and heard). Yes, parts of this look and sound
pretty rough, which is why we (and Williams) deserve to see this masterpiece properly
restored and completed.

Note - before burning:
The DVD-rom folder contains an Ifo & Bup fix, so that when the movie ends, you will be
taken to the "Special Features" menu (Courtesy of Doctor M). The original ifo/bup set
causes the disc to stop after the movie.

Running Time: 01:37:11

---This new version, Recobbled Cut Mark II, has been compiled after a
widescreen version of The Princess and the Cobbler surfaced shortly after
this version became widely available online. This was such a huge find that
Garrett felt compelled to recobble it once again, incorporating more of the
fully animated widescreen material that he just didn't have before.

The scenes which are most affected are the witch and war machine scenes,
which have been improved in quality. Also added - more "Deleted Characters"
footage of the Mullah Nasrudin and the Enchanted Ogre Prince.

From the three-time Academy Award winning animator of Who Framed Roger Rabbit ...
Restored version of Richard Williams' unfinished animated masterpiece, The Thief and the Cobbler.

Unofficial restoration by Garrett Gilchrist. This is not intended for profit,
just a fanmade research project and tribute to this classic film.
The film was worked on for 26 years, with a team of master animators like Ken Harris and Art Babbit.
This film inspired Disney's Aladdin.

Ruined versions of it were released as "The Princess and the Cobbler" and "Arabian Knight" (aka "The Thief and the Cobbler").

You can watch this entire restoration at Youtube, in low quality.

For the first time ever on video, enjoy the original version of this lost
animation classic, written and directed by three-time Academy Award winning
animator Richard Williams (animation director of Who Framed Roger Rabbit).
Nearly 30 years in the making, a labor of love by a team of animation greats,
this was to be the masterpiece of Williams career, perhaps the most ambitious
independent animated film ever conceived. The film was the inspiration for
Disneys film Aladdin, which proved to be its undoing. After over two decades of
work, the film was taken away from Williams when he couldnt meet his deadline.
It was eventually bought by Disney, recut and destroyed. It has never been seen
the way it was intended to be seen ... until now. Based on Williams' original
workprint, missing scenes have been restored using storyboards and unfinished
animation. Restored to its true form, this lost classic has finally been found -
for you at home.

Directed by Richard Williams
Screenplay by Richard Williams and Margaret French
Master animator Ken Harris
Produced by Imogen Sutton and Richard Williams

When Richard Williams was fired from his film The Thief and the Cobbler (after 26 years of work),
Fred Calvert was hired to finish it quickly and cheaply. He did an incredibly poor job.
His version was called The Princess and the Cobbler, later recut further by Miramax into
the nearly unwatchable Arabian Knight.

This "Recobbled Cut" uses footage from Williams' original 1991 workprint with higher quality footage
from Arabian Knight and Princess and the Cobbler ... this does include some lower quality Calvert
animation with the high quality Williams animation - it's easy to tell the difference.

The film has been carefully reedited to match Willliams' original 1991 workprint for the film,
and his original vision. Calvert footage has only been used if it conforms to Williams'
storyboards - in some cases footage has literally been reanimated frame by frame in Photoshop
to make it match Williams' scenes! The restoration in total took 4 months to complete.

Restoration from the editor/filmmaker who brought you Deleted Magic, SW Classic Edition, and
Gods of Los Angeles.

Story:
It is written among the limitless constellations of the celestial heavens, and
in the depths of the emerald seas, and upon every grain of sand in the vast
deserts, that the world which we see is an outward and visible dream, of an
inward and invisible reality ... Once upon a time there was a golden city. In
the centre of the golden city, atop the tallest minaret, were three golden
balls. The ancients had prophesied that if the three golden balls were ever
taken away, harmony would yield to discord, and the city would fall to
destruction and death. But... the mystics had also foretold that the city might
be saved by the simplest soul with the smallest and simplest of things. In the
city there dwelt a lowly shoemaker, who was known as Tack the Cobbler. Also in
the city... existed a Thief, who shall be ... nameless.

ANIMATION AMONG THE MOST GLORIOUS AND LIVELY
EVER CREATED! - The New York Times

Restoration and cover artwork by Garrett Gilchrist

Joeshrubbery writes: "Acclaimed master animator Richard Williams spent the
better part of three decades working on what was meant to be his masterpiece,
'The Thief and the Cobbler. After his success as animation director on
Who Framed Roger Rabbit' he was finally able to get studio financing to take
The Thief from a career spanning side project to full-blown production.
A stolid perfectionist, costs mounted and deadlines loomed with Williams
at the helm, and Warners eventually pulled out when Disney announced the
similarly themed Aladdin.

With funding gone, the film was taken from Williams by his creditors
and was completed by others (under the leadership of Fred Calvert),
cheaply and poorly while making massive changes to try to make it
more mainstream. This version only saw release in Australia and
South Africa, as The Princess and the Cobbler. Later Disney bought
it and heavily edited it again, in such a way as to make it appear a
cheap knockoff of Aladdin (instead of the film that's largely believed
to be the greatest inspiration behind Disney's film), while making it
almost unwatchable in the process. Released as Arabian Knight,
it was a travesty. This Recobbed Cut is a recent fan-created reconstruction
of the film as Williams wanted it, or as close to as possible. Based on a
workprint of the film from when Williams was nearing completion (shortly
before the film was taken away from him). Using the workprint, DVDs of
the two officially released cuts of the film, and other related elements
taken from various sources this Recobbed Cut reveals the masterpiece that
could have been.

Yeah... seems the Dvd-rom folder was just a hair too large, wasn't it?

Ok, there was only room for the disc art and the little files.

I put in a link for the covers.rar.

Also I added a rar for the original ifo & bup set.

And two sets of md5's and sha1's - one set for the original ifo & bup, another for the corrected.

Seems hardly worth a new nzb, but you don't want to get headers, now, do you?

Spence says:

Hey folks, Spence here.

I've been working on a revised version of my fan edit of The Matrix Squared. This version
is more cleaned up, getting rid of the technical glitches and other things that bothered me.

This is essentially the same edit as the first version of Matrix Squared, it's just
cleaned up and better.

If you don't know what Matrix Squared is it, is a fan made edition of The Matrix Reloaded
and The Matrix Revolutions into one film, also including scenes from Enter The Matrix and
The Animatrix. It removes a lot of subplots and side characters and rearranges things to
make a new sequel to The Matrix. The basic plot is the same, but now you can get the full
story in one sitting.

the final run time on this is 2 hrs. 33 min. considering the two sequels were over two
hours a piece, this is a pretty good running time.

This is a DL full quality dvd. It includes these special features:

2 alternate endings
deleted fight sequences.

Cuts removed/added/extended :
1. New title integrated into the title sequence
2. Cut various overly cheesy little things
3. Softened Harry's obsession just a little so it's not over the top ("Every night! Until I find him it's 24/7!! Rarrr!")
4. Cut out the...flamboyant music montage before the play
5. Cut out the asian woman's rendition of the Spiderman theme, both times.
6. Cut out Peter's conversation with himself after the answering machine hangs up on him after the play.
7. Cut out Doc Ock's "NOOOOOOOO!" (Darth Vader anyone?)
8. Moved the wedding scene to much earlier in the film, so Mary Jane putting her heart out to Peter becomes much more "all or nothing"
9. Etc. Mostly it was just little things, it's really a good film overall. Especially for a Marvel movie. Especially for a sequel.

"Pearl Harbor: ADigitalMan's "Strength And Honor" Edit.

Sometimes the love story makes the movie. Sometimes it breaks the movie. And sometimes it's
just there. The love triangle in Pearl Harbor stunk. ADM removed it from the Director's cut.
And the result--- rocks!

New Running Time: 128 minutes
Stats: NTSC, Anamorphic, Dolby Digital 5.1 (448 Kbps)
Covers: Darth Enzo's, Blaksvn's & Kracker's
Size: 4.38 GB (4,696,495,361 bytes) (Without some covers ** & before my nfo & junk).

** Note: This disc, as torrented, wouldn't fit on an SL disc. So, I reluctantly removed most
of Blaksvn's awesome covers from the Dvd-rom folder. All of Blaksvn's covers are in this rar
set, and a download link is in the Dvd-rom folder. Kracker's (newer) are also in the rar set.
It was a tough choice, but I'm a sucker for old-timey-poster covers of Darth Enzo's.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ADigitalMan says:

I write this having completed my first viewing of the final cut. This may be the
finest re-edit I've done. Using the R-rated Director's Cut as my basis, I have
completely removed the awful romantic love triangle and thereby turned this into
a kinetic war movie that focuses entirely on the lead-up and attack on Pearl
Harbor, and the Doolittle Raid on Tokyo. Like Titanic, Pearl Harbor was really
two movies in one. A story of a historical disaster, and a love story. It made
Titanic float, but it made Pearl Harbor sink. By removing the ham-fisted love
story, the movie becomes a visually stunning actioner that hits the gas and
doesn't let up for two hours.

We see the genuine comradery between lifelong buddies Rafe and Danny without any
pointless tension thrown in. We respect Evelyn as a capable nurse who rises to
an incredible challenge. She isn't romantically linked to either character,
which keeps the focus on the looming war from all sides ... Rafe's combat post
in the RAF, Danny, the other flyboys and nurses posted at Pearl, the newsreels,
the intelligence and analysis in Washington, and the preparation of the Japanese
for the attack. When all hell breaks loose, we're squarely focused on it, and
not on false tensions written out of a marketing playbook.

Some scenes were moved around in the first act to improve flow, but rather than
pulling out little bits here and there, I mostly lopped out giant sections and
left others intact. Just remember, the Ritalin-challenged quick-cut editing
style is Michael Bay's work, not mine. The most finessed part of the edit is the
bar scene upon Rafe's return. Instead of having lifelong friends sniping at each
other and descending into fisticuffs over a woman, we have Danny somewhat
speechless and in awe of his friend who has returned from the dead. Moments like
that aren't moments for anger and hate, they're cause for celebration, and
that's how the scene now plays out.

Oh, and Bruce Willis is taken right the F--- out of this film. If there ever was
a moment that pulled me out of a movie, it's was seeing John McClane limping
around in triage behind Jennifer Garner's bewildered Nurse Sandra. That one shot
drained all the emotional investment the attack built up. All it needed was a
"Yippie-kay-yay" as a final punch. Whatever. It's gone, and Jennifer Garner's
moment of clueless despair right along with it. It only improves her character
and keeps you emotionally invested in Nurse Betty's death.

Kate's voiceover brings the film to a pitch-perfect close. No cheesy scenes of
"the family" flying about in the clouds. The end is more patriotic, more noble,
and yes, more uplifting than a crop duster.

What we're left with is a film that pays genuine tribute to the men (and women)
who fought and died at Pearl Harbor, and those who lived on to fight out World
War II. Clocking in at 2 hours 8 minutes (including credits) it feels like the
perfect length.

One day I found... 10 years had got behind me. Next day was worse.

The 2003 Willard (remake), was a fun, but underrated, little flick. Ratman has enhanced it

Ratman says:

This morning, I completed work on my edit of the 2003 remake of 'Willard' starring Crispin Glover. I don't know if anyone is really into this movie (aside from Garrett), but I went ahead and did my own little re-edit of it, based on a bootleg copy of the workprint I have on VCD. It was shot to be an R-rated film, but after it didn't test well, it was cut to PG-13. It still didn't test well, but the director (Glen Morgan) didn't fight for the original cut, so it was released in theaters as PG-13. While this is the version I fell in love with (and really, it's not bad by any means), the film definitely stronger with some of the scenes that were cut.

Luckily, almost all of these scenes were included on the DVD (only random shots here and there were excluded) in wonderful quality. Most of these were just drag-and-drop jobs and I finished the edit in only a couple hours. Below, you'll find the list of what I added and what I didn't add. I did not cut anything from the film, except scenes that I replaced with their original versions.

ADDITIONS:
*A long scene between Willard and Cathryn at the office, working after hours. Very nice character showcase.
*A scene of Willard's mother almost catching him as he's leaving to sicc the rats on Mr. Martin's car.

ALTERATIONS:
*An alternate shot featuring Mr. Martin's assistant cursing the fact she has to give him a foot massage.
*Mr. Martin is now seen attending Willard's mother's funeral.
*The original version of Willard getting fired is re-instated. This features harsher language by Mr. Martin.
*Longer scene of Cathryn in the bathroom, and Willard finding Scully the cat's mutilated corpse.
*An extended version of the ending.

"Never Say Never Again" - as an EON Bond movie. Sean Connery's last Bond adventure redeemed!

It's downright entertaining.

No way? Way.

*New Score! Masterfully replaced the awful parts (most of it) with _real_ Bond music.

*Dumb stuff trimmed.

*Conventional beginning credits removed. Now it starts like an EON Bond: gun barrel opening,
"tease" scene, EON-Bond-style opening credits.

You've heard it said that the right music makes all the difference. Here's proof.
Most of the original music dragged the movie down. Re-scoring wasn't easy.

"Mad Max on the Water". Critics didn't like it, but what the frak do they know. Many
potential viewers believed them, but the box office still came close to paying back it's
enormous budget. Of course tv rights, video & dvd made it profitable.

The chopped-down theatrical version was rather long for the theaters. But this nearly
3-hour version is great for home viewing.

In these 40 restored minutes are several scenes that are important to the movie.

Open Matte! The only way to watch it Fullscreen. While it's zoomed in a bit, you still see
a lot more picture than you did in the theater. (A little off the sides, but nothing vital).

Running Time: 170 minutes.
Stats: VHS->DVD. NTSC. Dolby Digital 2.0.
Covers: Boon's.
Size: 4.02 GB (4,322,440,920) (Before md5 & sha1)
Lineage: Encore->VHS->DVD (unknown capper)->RB (Thanks!)
Features: Uncensored. Open-Matte fullscreen.

"Superman Returns - The ADigitalMan Cut" - Single Layer conversion.

(The Dual-Layer version will be uploaded next).

ADM cut stuff that should've been deleted, and restored some scenes that should not have
been deleted. Early scenes are re-arranged. The result is a little better paced, and
more consitent with its predecessors.

Running Time: 154 minutes. (5 minutes cut, 5 minutes added).
Stats: NTSC. Dolby Digital 5.1 audio.
Covers: ADM's own covers.
Size: 4.32 GB (4,641,704,627 bytes) - before md5, sha1 & nfo.
Extras: None. But the Dual Layer version has an isolated score & other goodies.

The Isolated Score is only on the Dual Layer version!

Although the Isolated Score is shown in the menu, it is not available in this conversion.

ADM says:

This edit adds in some deleted material and removes some material from the theatrical cut that makes the story tighter. After three different cuts, this is the one I settled on. The Bizzle gave me some of these ideas, either directly or indirectly.

1) The scenes in the first 20 or so minutes are rearranged. At the end of the credits, when we zoom into earth, we move to Ma Kent doing the dishes (using the deleted pan-down and with a few subsequent shots removed to get to the "happening" more quickly.
2) Small trim to the start of the Vanderworth scene. This rearrangement allows the Vanderworth scene to play with the audience. Is it Ma Kent talking to Clark, or is it something else?
3) Instead of the cornfield flashback, we have the shot of Clark and the shovel, followed by the X-ray newspaper scene.
4) Expanded version of the Lex/Kitty boat scene, where Kitty gets catty.
5) As the camera zooms through the "ice" to the fortress, part of the dialogue about the unnatural weather pattern and the crystals are inserted as a voiceover.
6) Brando is cut. It was redundant to Superman II, plus when you consider that we should see no more Brando after his energy was exhausted, it made sense to remove it. Instead, we cut away after Kitty's line "You act like you've been here before." Which Lex Has. He didn't need a refresher course from Jor-El.
7) Expanded conversation with Clark & Ma Kent, introducing Ben Hubbard. This uses that GREAT line about keeping the world from spinning, and that Cameron-worthy dissolve from the spinning baseball to the Daily Planet building. It expands on Clark's reluctance to still be Superman, and further underscores the theme that the world moved on without him.
8) Added source music behind the bar scene with old and new Jimmy. Listen carefully.
9) Likely to be the best change in the film, Stalkerman is cut without losing any of the exposition of Richard and Lois. The scene cuts from the cab ride to the exterior of the house. Lois never gives a lying "no" response about being in love with Superman, giving the scene MUCH more emotional resonance. Superman's flight through metropolis comes AFTER this scene, meeting the Jor-El voiceover seamlessly.
10) As the kryptonite shard is removed in the hospital, the shot of it landing in the glass is slowed down, a bigger sound effect is added, and the scene fades to black. Then "Superman is Dead."
11) In a change directly described by The Bizzle, the Daily Planet scene is trimmed down so we don't see or even hear about the crowd until we finally see it as Richard drops Lois off. The whole scene is tighter and has greater impact.
12) Lex's Paradise scene is moved to a post-credits sequence. This heightens the impact that Lois' revelation about Jason gives Superman the will to live by allowing him to disappear from the hospital quicker. (The sun apparently sets as fast as it does in X3, but whaddayagonnado?)

Extras:
*Isolated Score.
*Dvd-Rom folder goodies.
*Soundtrack files (mp3's & flak's) that'll fit onto a CD.

Note: The original distribution was divided between two SL discs. There was too much stuff
to fit on a DL disc. (DL discs don't hold as much as two SL's). So I have taken the liberty
of rar'ing the Soundtracks separately - they'll fit on a Supplemental CD. I'll post 'em next.

Reposting some of the files from "Waterworld - Encore Extended Uncensored" Disc 2 (SL)".

Due to some weird propagation error (some server was truncating the filenames on a few segments), those files didn't join properly.

Easynews got some of those goofed-up segments.

I decided to repost whole files in case other servers got lots more segments like that.

Look for "[Fan Preservation] Waterworld Extended - Reposted Files - Disc 2" posted by "JT".

I'm reposting through Easynews, instead of Giganews.

Didn't know you had to ask for posting privileges, which caused a bit of delay. (Yeesh).

It also caused the new nzb to fail to post. I will retry the nzb after the rest of the files finish.

I'm just a little less fond of Easynews, now.

"Star Wars - The Interactive Board Game DVD - a daveytod release"

This is a VHS->DVD of the tape that would lead you through the game.

Newly-shot scenes of Darth Vader supplement movie footage. For authenticity, David Prowse
and James Earl Jones played Vader; and original crew (and set-makers) were employed.

Game: This takes place right before ESB. You and your fellow force-sensitive rebels are on a
covert mission to prevent the incomplete Death Star II's side-mission. Vader is there---
try not to be the one to succumb to the dark side - as one of you will betray your comrades.
(Role-playing hilarity ensues). If the rebels win, you stop the video, otherwise, you watch
the rebel base's planet blow up.

There are 42 chapters, enabling you to skip the gameplay-timer interludes.

Running Time: 58 min, 14 sec.
Stats: PAL, Mpeg2 stereo audio
Covers: Darksaber's and Guiltyspark's
Size: 1.82 GB (1,959,409,122 bytes)
Extras: Stills gallery - photos of the box, contents, and instructions.

Star Wars - The Interactive Board Game DVD

Star Wars: The Interactive Video Game Board was a board game created by Hasbro in 1996. It is notable for
including a VHS tape of newly shot scenes of Darth Vader walking down the halls of the Death Star.
For the new scenes, Hasbro brought back David Prowse to play Vader and James Earl Jones to do the voice of
Vader. Some of the crew from A New Hope, including original director of photography Gilbert Taylor,
returned as well to shoot the scenes.

Included here is the entire VHS broken down into 41 chapters to coincide with Vader's appearances.

Also included is a stills gallery containing photos of the box and contents as well as scans of the instructions.
