Ok so I was looking at my original post and had an idea for an Axia Edition using the same image.

Size isn't everything but it might help here:

Bigger hole

Oooh, I like that. Seems scarier, like it's built to also eat bigger lifeforms than just humans. It also looks easier to fall into!

Thanks bingo thats a good start

I have it in my head that this thing in monsterous & that its tenticles are reaching for the sail barge where Jabbas goons are on the top deck batting it away as it tries to pull them all in, all the while  jabba is laughing at its hunger,

then when Luke & co blow up the barge in crashes into the beasts maw

(now obviously when the droids fall out this causes a problem but meh what ya gonna do!)

Dang, that looks really good enlarged like that. Looks more ominous and threatening.

Ah, the beak.  One of the absolute worst ideas in all of the SE.

Except for Jedi Rocks.

And Hayden as Anakin.

And Greedo shooting first.

And Jabba in ANH.

...

You know, it's things like these that make me forget about the few *good* things the SE did, like the Cloud City expansion, or ... um ... hmm ...

Here are a few suggestions:

(1) I can see making it larger, but you will have to take into account the terrain around the Sarlaac itself - maybe try to make the Sarlaac bigger but keep the sand dunes it is hiding in the same size.

(2) darken and change the color of the overall Sarlaac body in comparison with the sand.  Granted, it would try to blend in, but if there was a way to indicate that a much larger creature was hiding underneath the sand as opposed to the sand pit just having a mouth at the bottom would add to believability.

(3) it looks like the tentacles are coming out of the top 2 rows of teeth.  If there is a way to make the 3rd and 4th row darker as well as "open and close" ie the real mouth, whereas the upper 2 or 3 layers of teeth are essentially the lips around the mouth, that would explain why there are tentacles there (if it was part of the mouth, granted the tents could be retracted, but wouldn't they get in the way of it trying to eat something?).  It would also alleviate the removal of the "audrey beak" if you had the lower area moving and nashing together.

(4) and in any edit, you would have to tone down or get rid of the "rubber bounce" when people land in the mouth.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Would it be possible to show the sand "falling in" and the Sarlacc mouth itself opening up from within the hole?  It would certainly establish that there's a large creature under the dunes, and would allow for the removal of the beak.  It's a lot of effects work, sure, but would it even be possible?

And Monroville, your suggestion #3 is a great idea, either instead of or in addition to showing the "monster" coming to the surface under the sand.

That new sarlaac is great. I did always like the new tentacles on it but the beak always seemed fake how it ate the ppl. This is how it should've been, hope Ady does that for his ROTJ

Hah! I have an idea:

Take the idea of the sail barge collapsing into the sarlaac pit, then cut in the shot of the spice worm rising up from the sand in Dune and taking out that vehicle.

Take out the vehicle and replace it with a sail barge mockup.

There you go! :p

Emperor View of Endor

Now doesn't that look sweet?

This would require the Death Star to rotate so that the window will be facing the battle later.

When it rotates, the lighting on the window frame should change. I think that would be very difficult to do.

I dont like that idea. Too distracting. And someone above rightly pointed out that the Emperor surrounded by the starfield is more effective.

This looks a bit bizarre, I took the colours off a close up of a tiger growling.

It would be interesting to see a modification to the scene reminiscent of the last Pirates movie.  The sarlaac would be writhing around under the ship and occaisionally reach up and grab a henchman or two from off a skiff at unexpected moments.  Or maybe grab one of the skiffs and try to break it and dump the crew into its mouth...  uh.. hole..  um... eating orafice.. thing.

I tried this time to give more life to the set.

I added more lights and i gave some little lights to the boxes/cylinders in the floor that seems to be unessesary.

With the lights the space opens and looks more big (IMO)

Also i added a "pattern" of the elevator's lights. just for personal taste and symmetry.

Someone posted that it would be cool to have sith lord statues. I tried to put one in the corner but it looked out place.

I never understood the logic of the emperor's throne room. It is such a strange room. I always thought it would be cool if it was more like a library enviornment but that is more like something you would see on Courosant.

I always thought that this was a temporary throne room. The Death Star is still under construction and all.

You guys don't seem too enthusiastic about this idea. I think it would be great for ROTJ: R. But it is a long ways away. I wish I had Adywan's or Vaderio's, or this dude Davnes007's, skills. I would start whipping out my own ROTJ: R right now. Davnes007, could you tell me how you made this image?

Obi pictures, on Tatooine,  are nice but I think that to make the job easier and more realistic, that scene should be at night. With only few light inside Obi's hut, to fit better with the characters.

Once again a really nice idea on paper, firstly because when Luke started his journey it was in the bright glow of a youth looking to the future with some optimism and now he's a seasoned and slightly broken older man looking to the future with understandable dread, and we haven't seen Ben's hut in the dark so it would look familiar but different.

But if mixing one scene to the location of another is hard enough try doing it when the location was never recorded lit for night, it would make an already difficult job almost impossible.

Though I will give it a try, naturally ;-)

Not as bad as I thought and I'm getting better at the shimmer (even if it has shaved the top of Ben's hairpiece off) maybe you experts out there can do it better?

I'm a little confused by this idea of having Luke return to Ben's home in ROTJ?

By the way, your digital compositing work looks great!

Most of this work looks like Digital compositing and you guys do an amazing job. But can any of you do CGI and on a Lucasfilm level (not that that is say much)?

The idea is to restructure the beginning of ROTJ.  The way I see it working best is like so:

- Opening crawl
- Vader visits Death Star
- Leia delivers Chewbacca to Jabba
- Luke (who has been training on Dagobah since the end of ESB) sees Yoda die
- Leia releases Han and is captured
- Luke lands on Tatooine that night and goes to Ben's hut - "I can't do it, Artoo" - Ben's conversation with Luke (I'm in favor of getting rid of Ben's conversation altogether)
- Artoo and Threepio visit Jabba and get captured (no message delivery, straight to dungeon)
- Luke arrives, film continues more or less like normal from here

Note that the Luke on Dagobah/Chewie's "bounty" scenes could be flipped, but I think this works best for pacing.
