i want to see a bigger place that luke can hide and not the 5x5 that vader searches 2 minutes.
In the establishing shot of the room we see that is small.
Pff cheap sets.

Here is a cutaway of the throne room note all the space that could have been used
"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I have the book!
Plus in some scenes we should see the exterior of the cross shaped through windows...
I mean: Whut?

You know, those red Emperor guards are pretty useless... while they are kinda cool looking, is there the possibility of just removing them altogether?
From a filmic POV (don't show a gun on the wall unless you intend to use it) and even a story POV (the Emperor doesn't even NEED guards, as he can read minds [of those plotting against him] and is a Sith Master) the guards are pretty useless - unless Ady or someone wanted to make a sort of Praetorian Guard and have some BLACK or very dark RED stormtroopers (twice as dark as the red on the current guards) - say one of the platoons or the front row of troopers on both sides when the Emperor first arrives at the DS.
I also sense some possibilities in regards to placing the tower in the center of the dish: you could make a panning camera shot (using a fish eye lens or something close to it)
(1) starting off with the tower in the center and the beams coming out of the dish around it
(2) the camera tilts upwards to follow the beams as they converge far above the tower
(3) when the beams come together, the singular beam streaks out and the camera continues to move up and follow it as it moves from left to right, destroying many rebel (and maybe later, rebel and Empire) ships.
I'll whip up some storyboards...
Also, could the Emperor's tower be reshaped to look if not like the jedi temple, than like the Imperial symbol itself? Like an octagon shape at the top tip of the tower, with an extremely larger version of the TIE cockpit window so the Emperor can see directly what the DS is destroying ...
It could look like a crown mixed with the temple and imperial symbol, with the spires going up the edges, and antenna dangling below to resemble vines, as if it was ripped and propelled from out of the ground...

Yeah, that's at the TOP of my list for ROTJ - those sabers must be fixed!
A Goon in a Gaggle of 'em
Wow ... that's WAY too big. Besides, Ady already did a wonderful job with the lightsabers in ANH.
And Luke's in your above picture is also too thick. Vader's looks nice, though, but you definitely need some anti-aliasing on the core.
well i kind of used gimp i'm trying to figure out how to make the original lightsaber image less fat
obiwan fix
i know u guys already talked about the executor crashing scene. i was thinking of putting new music into it from when anakin escapes the droid control ship as its blowing up. as after he blows the generator listen to the music in the scene to the end and tell me wat you think.
Nice, DP.
Looking at the bottom right pics, man his saber is long! Almost like a hockey stick without the blade! :p It's funny how LFL couldn't get that really consistent. We saw it in ANH, too, especially aboard the Falcon.
the fat lightsaber is what really grinds my gear with rotj
I always thought ESB had the lightsabers pitch-perfect (I'm not a particularly huge fan of the PT 'sabers), but I dunno what the hell happened with ROTJ. The gradient on Luke's saber especially - it's like it drops off in intensity in a very strange way compared to all the others. I don't really know how to describe it - that's the best i can do. I just know that I hate it.
Yeah, I think they pretty much nailed it in ESB. Even though they are super bright and whatever, I've always loved that overhead shot near the end of Vader and Luke's battle. The saber battle in ESB has always been my favorite of all the movies and always will be.

Hey there! nice sabers there. epsecially the latest one. One suggestion Dont make them so crisp the cores. Add a 0.5- 1.0 blur dependshow close to camera is.
Keep it up :)

Hey vaderios, have you ever tried doing a saber mock-up where the colored light is cast on their faces? Just curious.

I want to try it yes. Thx for the reminder.

On this subject, Lando Lakes did a rough mock-up early on in the Revisited thread.

The only problem is the shadows here.

Very nice! I especially like the second one. :) I love the subtlety of the first one as well.
While I'm not particularly for or against that change, I have to say that as usual Vaderios' mockups are incredible!

can you try doing one in rotj when luke goes ballistic and starts charging at vader
Darth Piccolo said:can you try doing one in rotj when look goes ballistic and starts charging at vader
The sequence is too quick for a proper snapshot. any attempt may look lame. These efforts should be in motion. Someone has to try it with the tutorial i posted.
maybe i will try later.
Can i add that the sabers should emite light in the scene that vader search for luke?

do whatever you want i'm not sure what kind of software he is using but i'm kind of a quick learner and i want to try it out
