Well....no. Not one for mass consumption, anyway. Just one for my own amusement.

Sorry about the blank posts, guys. For some reason, the messages won't take on these boards. Anybody else having a problem posting messages from their PC? I can do it from my IPad, but not from my PC. Could it be because of my user id is logged in from the same ip address, which isn't allowed on this site, or maybe my computer has a virus I'm unaware of?
This link I'm about to post I'm sure all of you would agree.

only 50 reasons why ROTJ sucks?
here's 10 why it doesn't:

Nope, I don't agree at all. I love Return of the Jedi, including for a lot of those reasons. It's as much of a classic as the other two.
That 10 list made me realize that the AT-AT could show up during the Endor battle, but this is only solvable if Chewie's AT-ST can take it out, or if it gets destroyed in the overly massive explosion.

Wrong! ;-D
lol, I use emoticons for the same purpose.
When people think of iconic Star Wars, they think of all three movies. Force ghosts, ewoks (not actually referred to as such within the movie,) the Emperor and his guards, the rancor, Jabba, speeder bikes, the sarlacc, A-Wings, Admiral Ackbar - all classic designs. I think the influence of Lucas is a little bit apparent, but overall it's still one of my favorite movies and the rest of the cast and crew pulled it out of the fire. Even people who hate ROTJ still usually love all of the things taking place in space with the battle and the confrontation between Luke, Vader, and the Emperor. When I watched it as a kid, it was my favorite because it had all the cool aesthetics, music, limb-severing and stuff from the other films, and it was funny in a way I could understand. As kitschy as it was, "bad" humor with puppets is better than any humor with Prequel CGI.
I think it's an Act I, Act II, Act III kind of thing. Of course Empire is the darkest, which is why you need a return (heh) to the adventure and fun. It's the same reason the Dark Knight Rises and The Last Crusade are great movies that wrap things up tonally, and sometimes edge out as my favorites of their respective threes.
I personally find ROTJ fails at that with almost as much success at the PT fails to tell a story before the first two but diversity is fun.
It has the look of Star Wars but plays as a contractual obligation piece most of the time (Dark Knight Rises and The Last Crusade suffer in much the same way through these eyes).
This is why I'm looking forward most to ROTJ:R as it's the one part of the OT that just doesn't do it for me, there is still good in it but it needs more than a surface make-over in my view to bring it up to the previous two.
I can't wait to read this thread in a few years when someone links to that article again.
I assume you mean for the fewth time in as many years.
Sorry, that was a typo. I meant in a few weeks.
It's funny how I actually found Jedi to be my favourite of the Trilogy coming from a kid of 8 years. I never even came to realise how flawed the film is about 25+ years later. I now agree that Empire is indeed the superior film, and agreed that Jedi needs a LOT of work to make it more consistent with the rest of the Trilogy. George most certainly sold out come Jedi and Richard Marquand certainly didn't help matters either. And how rushed the finished product turned out to be too. I mean look at the continuity errors of the Space Battle for example (yes we're all aware of that lol). Looking forward to seeing how ROTJ:R will eventually turn out. I wonder with much of the ideas proposed, will Ady integrate into his edit.
Once again I will gladly make a number of healthy donations towards the cause. :)

I felt that way back in 1983 but I was thirteen so possibly more pedantic.
well the lightsabers and the first action scene backdrop definitely need to be improved
hopefully something like this

I swear I saw Boba Fett all on his own on that other skiff prior to Jabba's Sail Barge exploding.

For archive reasons I'm linking this thread in here.
In which some guy does a total ROTJ rewrite: http://disgruntledindividual.blogspot.com/2012/10/opinion-reconstructing-star-wars.html
Unfortunately, this isn't actually feasible for a fanedit.

Thank you for sharing this, it was a terrific read. It gives a very good idea of how the movie could have looked like if Kurz stayed on board.
And it also proves that the series could have had an awesome ending even when they decided to trash the sequel trilogy idea.
I agree that it's a good idea on how to end the trilogy. However, my opinion is that by that time Star Wars had already become a global cultural phenomena, especially among children. If ROTJ were to have ended the way Mr. Kurtz suggested, it might probably have left thousands of depressed or emotionally disturbed kids, haha.
So, in the larger context the decision to have a happy ending was best for all. Of course, as most/all of us agree, the way Mr. Lucas chose to create that happy ending to the trilogy should have been done a lot better...

This is a matter of opinion....otherwise I am not a part of "all".
It could have still been a good ending. Heck even if it was something like how Nolan ended The Dark Knight Rises leaving things open then Jedi could have maybe ended like that perhaps....

The ending ROTJ has now is just too picture perfect. It reeks of cheese. Personally I'd have taken a "middle of the road" type ending. I'd have the DSII blown up (mission accomplished...yay), Lando & Falcon blowed up with it (sad...boo), Leia and Han in love and Leia becoming someone important ala Mon Mothma (yay), Luke having saved his father but still feeling the need to jet off into the galaxy to a) Contemplate life..... b) Start a new Jedi Order..... c) Go kick squatters out of Ben's hut and put up wallpaper.... (the point being that we're happy he has succeeded but we're also left somewhat melancholy that he's lived through so much in the process of saving the galaxy that he now no longer feels a part of it ala Frodo Baggins at the end of the Rings Trilogy......yay AND boo at the same time....*gasp*....duality) (and ultimately a more believable ending)
Despite all of its flaws, ROTJ is still my favorite.
Maybe I'm a sucker for happy endings, but I love Yub Nub as well.
Don't kill me... please...
A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.
I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!
