Will there be more shots of Dagobah in the edit?  I'd like to see Dagobah more opened up for some scenes.  It really feels to crowded and "on set."  In one of the first scenes it shows Dagobah nice and open with some atmoshere to it.

But to keep this somewhat on topic, I was wondering if there is the possibility to add lighting effects be it on Dagobah, Bespin, Endor, the Emperor's private palace and the like to subtract from the "set look (uniform lighting from background to foreground)".  Here are some examples:

ESF did an awesome mockup that shows a sun behind the throne room set that creates sunrays. Or i can remember Bingo's one to the homeone briefing scenes he added some light rays from top lights.

I like the idea, i dont know if its possible to do it to set shots. You know i tried to do something in the endor scenes. much more easy.

This one.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

off topic question but when luke uses the force to get his light saber in the throne room, does he try to kill the emperor and vader stops him, or does he mean to strike at vader?

Strike down the emperor. vader blocks him. :)

thinking to angels dagobah experiment, and luke training there in ROTJ, it would be great if there were similar lighting conditions going on to signify a new dawn perhaps? additional light effects and recolouring could mask the reusage of old shots.

Yeah, it would be cool to see some variation in lighting on Dagobah, rather than the permanent 12 o'clock shadow ;)

After the past couple of crazy days here on the forum I think we need something to laugh at...it's movie mashup time!

As I said at YT, that's one of the best videos I've watched in a long time, and I really mean it! Amazing work, fella! :D

I did a Star Wars/Napoleon Dynamite mash-up, too, but it pales in comparison to yours (but I still get a kick out of it):

I bet you could do a video version of it...WINK WINK! ;)

 Nice! lol

Yeah it took me a while to figure out who would play who in the video...I had thought that Han would've been a good uncle rico...but it came down to Vader being Napoleon. so i just had to ask who Vader interacted with in the OT and went from there...

Thanks again! :D

I was thinking to change the boring mood of this shot, and making it more stylised moody, as the heroes are closing to dark gangster paths.

Its a concept and i made two versions, One with sail barge and one with not.

i tried to open a bit the scale and create a visible path that leads to the palace.

Playing around with Mcquarie's moods..

I love them.  Something along those lines would be good.  The bottom one looks really good.  I think Jabba's palace should look nice on the outside.  Look more intimidating.

Those were very well done.

Wow. But I would save the sail barge for later. No need to reveal it now in the story. People would only be asking "what is that?" when they should be focused on the droids and the palace beyond.

But I like it. I've always wondered what the palace matte would look like surrounded by a sea of dunes. Just the palace. a path. sea of dunes.

It really feels more like Star Wars.  But, it doesn't feel like tatooine though. This scene definatly needs more to it.  It is very plain in the '04 DVD.

I'm gonna go against the grain and say that I much prefer the original. Sorry. :p

You're not going against the grain. I would just ike to see the original "enhanced" with more Tatooine-ish dunes. But yeah, i love the original matte. maybe a more defined pathway too but nothing to elaborate.

Mabey that ship could be Luke flying in from Dagobah.  I think a scene like that should be added.  Keep these coming because you are right, this sequence has a boring mood.  Also, the two sides of the background don't match.

I was talking about the original shot, not your. One side of the original is obviously a painting, then the other side is totally off color from the other and actual real footage.

That would be a lot better. I've been thinking that the area around his palace should have huge, tacky signs of wealth and power. Kind of like Harod in Jesus Christ Super Star. For an intergalactic crime boss, Jabba's palace seems a little too understated.
