I pray he was joking.  Well, I guess this isn't strictly for Adywan, so theoretically someone who makes another version of ESB with green lasers would want to have them match in RotJ.  But that would make it an ESB suggestion, not a RotJ one.

I WAS JOKING!!! God! that would look ugly.

anyways, anyone want to do some better mock ups of those AT-ST's when and after they explode? i watched jedi on t.v. and realized how cardboardy it all looked.

plus, the cockpit looked smaller then it was supposed to be, more like the size of a box a television comes in.

Great, let's flood Jedi with lots of completely distracting lens flares! Even when there aren't any lights off camera to cause them.

AWESOME!

He was poking fun at JJ Abrams. xP

You guys are going to shoot me for this but I legitimately LOVE how it looks with the lense flares....okay shoot...

Uh, no, he really wasn't. Angel loves lens flares.

He also likes JJ and taking the mick out of him.

I never really cared for that cue in Jedi, and while the new one is nicely done, it doesn't feel appropriate. And I'm always reticent to put PT music into the OT. Most of it is, tonally and melodically, completely unsuitable.

I don't mind the PT music for the most part, but its not appropriate for this scene

"Star Wars is supposed to be happy-go-lucky-let's-go-blow-up-a-Star-Destroyer [not like the New Jedi Order]"- Brendon C.

"Canon... includes the screenplays, the films, the radio dramas and the novelisations." -Star Wars Insider issue 23

Because in ROTJ the lightning effect is over used IMO and for continuity sake i replaced the lightning with ROTS's style to R2's one.

Dude that looks great, and actually would be achievable in the whole shot, I reckon. It does look a lot better.

It's not just the overuse of electricity/lightning that annoys me, it's the style of it, too. The new one is much better.

Danke ;)

Again more ROTS style. purpleish lightnings that are more random and more organic.

I prefer the original electric blue myself but with your finer sparks. If the Force Ligntning was redone one thing I would hate to lose is the way it hits Luke in all the nastiest places they could get away with (in a U rated movie). Right under the ear, scanning across the teeth, right in the spine (maybe he went futher downstairs when the camera was pointing away from him) it really did look hideously painful.

Timstuff according to Lucas Threepio is (from a certain point of view) Luke's brother too which makes your joke even more apposite.

I think the force lightning should match what it looked like in ROTS.  That would make the most sense.

Also, that cue from ROTS, if you guys think it would sound good somewhere else I'd like see another idea of it.

How so? Jedi was made a long time before, so why should the design be overridden by the prequels?

All special effects done in the PT are better than the OT.  Not the CG, but special effects.

I don't think there's a single effects shot in the PT that comes close to the opening sequence of ANH.

Yes, for what they had to work with at the time, it was very well done.

But the ROTS space sequences were fantastic.  I hope when the ROTJ edit is done, the space battles look that good.

I don't think there's a "special effect" in the PT that wasn't done using CGI.  That Force Lightning is no exception.

And I much prefer the original effect, as well.  It'd be a shame to see this replaced by the far inferior ROTS "lightning."

Perhaps if the ROTS-style lightning was a bit closer to the original blue color, it'd look better?

Purhaps. Dooku had Blue lightning, Palps have purlpleish. Either way i think the ROTJ lightnings need a revamp :)

Plus the purple tones adds a variety to other electric beams we see. Now if you want to switch the purple ones to the simple and blue ones to the force, be my guest :)

The lightning looks fake in the original.  Even though it is purple, I would trade that for realistic lightning any day.

Well I'm pleased I'm far from the only one who prefers the OT FX, dated as they may be.

What good is realistic lightning in the PT, or any of the "realistic" CG, when it's dramatically impotent? I don't care how apparently photo-realistic it is, it just does not register in the same way. That extended opening shot in Revenge of the Sith, yes, is technically brilliant. It's also boring. I'd take the opening sequence of Star Wars over that any day.

Many OT FX aged well and set the bases for the PT or the decent FX in our days. But not all! I guess we point the not so good ones right?

I agree that ROTS opening is jaw dropping but it hasnt anything memorable like the opening of ANH.

There are things that just need to be changed.  Lightning really isn't an important change, but it should look more like lightning.

I don't know why we have even been talking about this so long.

or any of the "realistic" CG,

I know that the PT looks stupid now due to way to much CG, but alot of it looks pretty good.  At least better that some effects in ROTJ.  I wan't these movies to feel brand new with nice effects not dark and dull visuals.

I'd take a space battle that looks like the ROTS one than the ROTJ one any day.
