I'm glad we're on the same wavelength.
I think you should be ady's matte artist on-loan from X fx shop. :p
edit: wow. I just barely caught it looks like. lol. Tis gone!
Shanerjedi, you literally must have caught it the second I was deleting it. I'm going to try to get a version that fixes the crushing of colours so you can get a better view of it.
Yeah I caught it and literally by the time I was typing my reply it was edited out.
What, did Photobucket compress a giant picture or something?
It messed up the brightness and some colors. thats all.

Skydrive does much the same thing, it mucks up the contrast too (which sort of gives it the full set).
Well, unfortunately, to keep the file size down they compress and if you're compressing an image that has 32-bit colours into something much smaller, as well as reducing it drastically in size, it "crushes" everything together in (un)expected ways. Hence the lime green on my daylight Endor matte and the blue haze on the nighttime one.
Still, you get the rest of the image clear enough and you can see what my intentions were. It's just annoying when you've done an image that's designed to stand up to detail even at 6k+ that you can't show it properly. Not that I want to be posting my full-res art for free, of course!
Might I suggest deviantART? They encourage large pictures (they have a minimum size for pictures, which I think is absolutely stupid, but whatever...) and you can hotlink to them.
I use deviantart, but I'm not putting my artwork anywhere at full res, not a chance. I don't mind sending to people privately sometimes when I know them a while, but I can't publish anything for free, whether it's inspired by other material or totally original.

So legally (or contractually), no one could use your mattes unless you were getting paid? Man, that sucks. Guess it comes with the "job in the industry" territory.

You can watermark stuff too.
I missed the picture! :(
Darth Venal, you gonna post it again?

Most work I do (none yet posted here) is work-related so obviously I can't share that. But the stuff I do for fun, some of it posted here, I probably wouldn't give out the full-res version unless it was for someone to use in a good project. I'm happy to post low-res, desktop-sized versions, but at the same time they really don't do justice to something that was painted with 30-40 times more detail hehe.
I know some people think that, because the stuff we post on here is inspired or even "photoshopped" from someone else's material, that we don't own it, but that's not the case. The Endor night matte I did, for example; WE know it's Endor, but there's nothing in that image that isn't mine or altered drastically from its original version, so I own the image entirely. It's a legally complex area, but generally, if you change someone else's image significantly then you are not infringing.
So with that in mind, get painting, you lot!
I think we should have a contest on the forum sometime, for people who haven't posted before, or posted much, with some sort of prize for the winner. I really want to see what other people can do.
So you could let Adywan or whoever use your "Not Endor" mattes as Endor with your permission and that would be OK?
I remember you mentioning something about working on a Harry Potter movie, I mean, would we know your work, or are you trying to keep your identity a secret?

Hahaha stop it.
Adywan would be free to use my work, yes, because I appreciate his dedication to what he does. That said, he's never shown any indication that he'd want to do so, so it's never come up. Ady seems to want to do as much of his project as possible by himself, and I can understand that. And to be honest, I really want to see what he does. If someone like Adywan used some of my work, I wouldn't enjoy watching it as much. You know, like when someone else makes you food it tastes better? It's that kinda thing.
Can't believe you remembered the Harry Potter thing. I need to be careful what I reveal around here, it seems ;-).

I just want to point at my TV and say, "I've had a conversation online with the guy who did that." I guess I'm weird like that and want to live vicariously through you. ;-)

You can do that every time you watch TPM.
LOL!

Only if you'll point back and say the same thing.

Doubleofive, why not try doing some stuff yourself? It's really not so hard once you get to grips with the software you're using. Well, if you're artistically inclined, of course. Do you do anything creative?
hey I've got an idea!!
(though some may disagree)
When Leia goes outside to Luke to ask whats wrong and Luke asks Leia about her mother, altering the music to "Across the Stars" soft version from Attack of the Clones would fit nearly perfectly :D to symbolize Padme's theme,
Although, its understandable not to do this as Leia may not have been referring to Padme, and rather her adoptive mother (who allegedly may have died sometime after ROTS)
Well Leia's adoptive mo likely died when Alderaan went bye-bye. And I would urge restraint when adding new music to an existing film so it doesn't feel tacked on.
