yea, the walkers always looked like cardboard once they were crushed and it made the size of the cockpit look smaller then it really is.

SSWR excellent video. I love the 3PO shrine and the imperial helmets in the village.

I see lord of the rings here or a big opportunity to do a breath taking approach to the ewok village?

Does anyone have any large images of the Ewok village? I can't seem to find any.

Pass. But, plus 100 virtua credits to the next guy who posts a bikini screen shot, as it makes very intersting reading here. 8-D

I bet she was a right bike though.

Well....

Epic fail in my face.

This is not a window just an air vend. i was tricked by the ghoel image.

Still i like the idea of the back light :)

But hell It helps the framing! Its making the movie more decent IMO. An unnecessary addition that helps.

Still I added a bit black to Luke's hood to have a bit more heavy clothing.

Just because it's a vent in the original footage doesn't mean it can't be a light source now (I think it improves things greatly) as does adding weight to Luke's cowl.

Nice to see Threepio with his full headlamps on too (were they trying to save on electricity with him or something in Jedi his eyes are either really dim or orange).

I wish something could be done to make Vader less glossy when he arrives at the Death Star at the beginning (it doesn't match the rest of the footage in this film or the general look in the others).

Well Bingo I tried in the past to do something about the helmet. I have to try again :)

I like that from one way because its reflecting the numerous (stage) deathstar lights and give a unique feel.

Btw i was wondering if there is any way to make leia's voice more soft. me thinks that most of the voices in ROTJ are dubs. Leia has a cigarete hue in his voice.

Any available source from dramas or whatever like SWWR did for 3PO?

Leia's a man!

That's a twist, that puts you removing his underpants in a whole new light.

I can swear that I can hear one of the Ewoks saying of Threepio "He's a woman" too.

"No it's not like that at all, I'm his brother and Threepio is his sister."

Only pulling your leg.

Going back to the grrrrrrreat cowl makeover, I really wish Mark got to wear that thing (or at least a spare) from Endor onwards instead of that pointless tatty camo poncho and helmet.

It gave him gravitas while the Rebel helmet thing made Luke and Leia look like bottles of shampoo (Han doesn't wear one but then he doesn't go speeder biking, those Jedi kids obviously knew they were going to steal bikes before they got there through the Force).

Imagine how he would have looked showing up before the Emperor in pretty much the same outfit.

Luke the Jedi at last.

A bad dream! just a bad long dream!

Anyways

Still not happy but an impovement.

I add some sand around 3po. In motion its cleary that these two are not in sand. also some more sand falling or dust in the air helps the framing. The shot also is too flat and quietly like there is no a big ship behind them ready to blowed up. i tilt a bit the frame adding a more dynamic/hurry effect.

And why these flying boats have droid catchers? I mean would be more easy if lando could grap one of those back then? ;)

That's why I suggested R2 using his jets (the only time in the OT it makes sense for him to use them therefore validating him having them in the PT)  to push himself and Threepio to a soft landing.

I hate that shot, it's just another bit of forced humor and as you say makes no sense at all.

More Wicker Droid fun for the budding Matte artists to think about and hopefully improve on (He just keeps on getting bigger), presumably this could be realised as a model. Do you think they burn Stormtroopers alive in this thing (Damn they put Christopher Lee in the wrong Star Wars movie)? :

Really good job there - LOVE the added imperial helmets scene and 3PO line about them being confused as imperials right before the torches come out (though you could play with how 3P0 reacts to what the Ewoks are doing as they carry him to their tree home - would he say "How splendid!" or would he be scared and worried and say "Where are you taking me?!" or something along that line?  That could keep the tension up a little.)

Also, watching your clip brought up a problem I had with JEDI in the original: if 3PO is considered a god, godling or messenger of the gods, why would the chief just ignore him until Luke made him float?  And others have brought up that the Empire has floating bikes as well as a Death Star floating above them.  So another suggestion:

- rather than have the chief ignore 3PO (or in other words, ignoring their god), have 3PO repeat to Luke that he CAN'T act as a god and refuses to cooperate.  That is when Luke not only lifts 3PO up, but either has him glow along the lines of how the Excalibur sword had the greenish glow in the movie EXCALIBUR - nothing too elaborate or goofy, but something to add to the effect.  That or his eyes shoot out beams of light - something to add to the mere floating to set 3P0 apart from the other technology that has surrounded the Ewoks (in fact, when he first sits up when they fall out of the trap, maybe his eyes light up then and 3PO readjusts them to normal - it is when they are shooting beams of light out that the Ewoks react to as well as his overall appearance) .

Maybe this is where 3PO's lines of Ewok where the last part sounds like he says "..and you'll be sorry!" is played, but louder, more boomier.  3PO wouldn't be in control of his voice, as Luke is also making him say (in Ewok) the lines to release them or they will be sorry, thus overriding 3PO's programming and his refusal.

First of all: Thanks for the detailed response! :D

The "how splended" line was just kind of a throw away line...I could take it or leave it...but believe it or not this line is used in the radio drama around the same time of events. In the radio drama 3PO starts commenting on how cool these treetop houses are and whatnot.

I agree with you and Bingowings on the 3PO floating around bit. I think having R2 casting some sort of hologram in front of 3PO could really work well...I almost did a crude mockup in the video...but I got lazy! :P   I'm realzing Adywan could be really overwhelmed with all of these changes...even *I* was with putting my crude video together...

Great stuff SSWR (nice to see my wee Ewok god turn up) I shall have a look at making a larger scale variation for the way you have used it (the one I designed was meant to be like an indoor shrine version rather than an outdoor totem). I will try and scale the idea up (more Wickerman than Greenman).

The dialogue from the radio version works very well indeed, it would be nice if we could remove the comical lilt in the incidental music, what comedy there is doesn't need to be enhanced with music and it removes any feeling of threat (the scene should be both worrying in a general view but amusing in relation to their reaction to Threepio). The Wizard Of Oz inspired chanting could be tinkered with to make it sound a little bit more sophisticated (distorted Tibetan chanting springs to mind).

I don't mind them disobeying Threepio, it would make sense that they should test him.

I would like to see some attempt to get Artoo to project frightening images over Threepio, it still seems odd that they are scared of him floating when they have seen things like Speeder Bikes and Metal moons.

Luke could just call out to Artoo and he improvises.

The Ewoks really need work done on their eyes too but it really is amazing work.

Pity we can't fix Harrison's gurning (can we?).

Thank you very much, Bingo! And thanks for the image...yeah, I almost sent you a PM to see if you would make me a slightly different image...but it works for this video...

Which piece of music are you referring to? The piece when they are trapped in the...trap? If so, I see your point.

Again, I think the R2 hologram is a great idea...what do you think he should project in front of 3PO? If you'll send me an image...I just might make another video!  ;)

I think that might work...it might help sell the strength of these little guys...plus ROTJ feels small in many ways...that would help open up the film to feel more epic.

Angel, those pics of 3PO in Jabbas palace are stunning! It's feels more like ESB as far as the cinematography goes...could this be achievable in ROTJ:R? I sure hope so...

Don't we all wish it were achievable. But not the level of enhancement Angel has made. Those changes would have to be made to every single frame, match-moved, etc. It's incredibly difficult, and virtually impossible to get right. The lighting, contrast and colour of a shot can be tinkered with and greatly improved much more easily but when it comes to specific elements being changed frame by frame, it's nigh impossible. I think Angel's mock-ups are really great, some of the changes are beautiful, but they stand as more as a "Look what could've been" rather than what can be done.
