could the camera follow the emperor down and gather speed perhaps? having him bounce of walls and such.

I'm visualising that as the same as Gandalf's fall with the Balrog in The Two Towers. Lol.

This calls for an edit of that clip. Let's give Gandalf a lightsaber! :p

I think it'd be just fine to remove the walkways. It even looks as if it was originally designed without walkways but Lucas said slap some walkways on there!

It would be nice if we could get him to fall backwards rather than forwards so he can continue to throw lightning at Vader on the way down:

Palpatine backwards

You know, I never thought about it until the recent mock-ups - are those "bridges" supposed to be bridges or supports for the inner elevator tube inside the tower shaft?  I guess that's the problem with the shaft around the elevator being unmolested by any sort of gantryway looking things in that without anything connecting the inner tube with the outer tower structure, it wouldn't be very stable.

Like I mentioned in an earlier post a few pages back (its funny how ideas you bring up are brought back up again by other posters), it would be kinda cool to see Palps falling down Mola Ram style, though I have no idea how one could do it other than taking the Mola Ram scene or the Gandalf TWO TOWERS entrance scene and modifying them appropriately.

Or we could just leave it as is.. >:)

Hell yeah!  That would be awesome.

Time is running out for the Rebels. Antilles upcourt to Skywalker. He’s being paced by Darth Va— the bone-jarring pick by Solo! He came out of nowhere! Skywalker’s open from way outside, he launches at the buzzer... Good! It’s good! The Rebels win on a sensational buzzer beater by Luke Skywalker! Let’s take another look at that last shot. He just does get it off in time. Wow, what a shot. That’s why they call him Luke Legend.

That may be the most exciting battle I have ever been privileged to broadcast. Certainly the most dramatic finish. We’ll get you an update on the Artoo Detoo injury situation in just a moment. Right now let’s go courtside where SuperShadow is waiting with Chewbacca.

We are from luke/vader's POV not palps. No need to see he is coming to the camera. (I still vote for to laugh like a madman while falling)

A new matte similar to Bingo's one is the best approach

I think they meant turn him over so we can see his face as he falls away, not a reverse angle showing him falling towards camera.

As supports they are just as useless as they are if they are bridges, perhaps someone should try replacing the bridges with some other form of support but we don't know what the ring (which contains the walkway Luke defeats Vader on) is made of, it might act as a giant clamp holding the lift shaft in place.

The Star Wars universe is full of bizarre architecture which would defy current engineering skills (how does Cloud City stay up?) but it might look more stable with a bit of support.

Girder Supports

My admittedly far from perfect mockup of Palpy falling backward was just a hand drawn (and it shows) silhouette with a few inserts from commercially available models (the face, the clasp, the hand).

If someone made a good model and filmed it either under water or on a strong support and virtually panned away from it to infinity I'd imagine the effect could be quite convincing. Palpatine's face make up is so cartoonish that a blurry model falling (maybe kicking too) could be made to look rather like the old guy.

The Mola Ram shot was terrible by the way (one of the most embarrassing special effects in ILM's portfolio). The Indiana Jones films need the same sort of make over that Ady is doing with Star Wars (not so much Raiders which is near perfect but all the others and especially TOD).

Angel, I can't imagine Palpatine laughing his way to death.

He is evil not insane (though Lucas himself seemed to forget this in the later stages of ROTS) and would see death as a defeat not a transition to a higher realm of existance (like Obi-Wan).

I think that looks really good on him. With a little less contrast and a bit more of the background being visible - it'll be perfect :)

I still think that his hairstyle should be similar to Luke's in EPIV - but not as long as that (more cropped). He's only about 44 or 45 and in that galaxy far, far away, receding hairlines start at a later stage (Obi-Wan is an exception though, lol).

A friend of mine started losing his hair while he was still at school, and I've got several friends who started receding in their twenties (when I started to go grey).

The wishlist has been updated with everyone's mockups.  It should now take a year to load on dial up.  LOL

That hairpiece is almost as daft as his wife and daughter's.

Some people look older quicker (take it from me...sunt lacrimae rerum et mentem mortalia tangunt) I think whatever happens Seb should keep his natural hair (do they have syrups in the afterlife?).

They fit the look of the robes but it doesn't make sense. The Trade Federation were just a means to an end and when that end was achieved Vader killed their leaders and I assume Palpatine took charge of their assets.

If the Neimodians were to be on any side it would possibly be with the Rebels (if they would have them).

If they served the Emperor in any capacity it would be in chains rather than robes of state.

Nice mockup though.

I wholeheartedly agree with Bingowings on this.

30. Enhance the carbonite thawing process

Original for an example:

Enhanced melting:

Tried to go for a more melten steel look but not exactly happy with this pic, though it does give idea which is totally the point.

I was looking the shots in the chase scene. It has some very good spots of forest and excellent mood and others that have poor ones. the point here besides the the fixing the bikes is to give a little more mood to the forest, When/where it needs!

Boba Fett is no longer in 'Return of The Jedi'.

I wanted to bring this back to the front due to the excellent commissioned work here by Davnes.  Not only did he cut Fett like I suggested, he also did some of the other tweaks we've mentioned on the list, and I think its the better for it.  I think things are tighter (a bit too tight in places, but could be fixed) and flow pretty nicely.  With some more work, I think it could be done and no one would know until after its over!

MORE THOUGHTS: still don't like Oola in the pit.  Slows things down.  And why does Sy look the wrong direction for the "uh oh"?  The crops could work with a 1080p source, but masking would work wonders.
