Dave did a nice video mockup of my old Boba Fett selling the location of the Emperor to the Rebels routine.
With a guy in a good Boba Fett suit (there's plenty of them about) I think it could be done.
Sir Hamish said:ah, you probably couldnt. I was putting it in this thread becuase its a scene Id like to see if large changes were ever made to the trilogy. Its probably beyond the scope of editers.
Ive just re-read the first page and realise now its a wishlist for fan edits, my mistake.
No worries here :)
its good to listen ideas. some of them may not be possible but can solve other problems.
Welcome aboard :D

I like the idea of cutting out his tumble into the sarlacc, and MAYBE seeing him watching as the heroes escape, but none of the needless exposition with holograms and talking to Vader, etc.
He is afterall a minor character, plus it's quite a major change to live with.
Also, love that video by Davnes. Hadn't seen it before :)
What I like about it is he's back to being a bounty hunter and like in ESB he gets paid twice for the same job.
The exposition needn't be explicit, all we need to know is the Rebels have paid Fett for tracking the Emperor and finding the Death Star and Vader has paid him for making sure the Rebels arrive at the party on time (Dave just did it like that to get the idea across).
"I hope it's worth the price we paid" takes on a different meaning.
All you have to do is show Slave 1 lifting off and flying away behind the sail barges as they approach us in their first shot. Then all you would have to do is edit out all Boba scenes in and around the sail barge. Later on, you show Boba in the shadows right before the meeting (say handing something off to Mrs. President), maybe even show the Slave 1 flying out one side of the main hanger (say on the port side of the capital ship or out of another hanger) as the Falcon approaches, so Han and Fett just miss each other.
Hell, for that matter, you don't even have to do the second half on the rebel cruiser - just showing Fett leave would allow his character to escape with some dignity, which is really what a lot of us Boba Fett fans want.

My lord! Vader stole Mace's muthaf**ing lightsaber :O
Shame on him.
That's brilliant Angel. Perfect :)

You'd need to have a bit more in there to get the double dealing across it doesn't have to be the full conversation and I imagine there is enough James Earl Jones material out there to spin something suitable.
Boba needn't say anything or maybe just repeat (perhaps with a bit of Ady style tweaking) a reprise of his "As you wish" from ESB.
It underlines that he will work for anyone and doesn't care what happens to his clients after he has finished the job.

Is it Mace's or is it Maul's, as it can fire a blade out of either end?

I fix the damn hilt emitter :P
the blade comes from the right spot now :)

I noticed Angel, in fact I was pointing that out.

Angel, the blade was correct in the original pic. you shouldn't see the tip of the lightsaber the angle it is at and the blade needs to be more centralised because of the motion blur that the saber hilt would have
The lighting on the hilt in Angel's mockup is a bit out (but who I'm I to talk in my mockups the lighting is frequently all over the place), I can't remember which point the hilt should be in it's spin off hand so maybe that's off too but at least the blade is coming out of the right end and is the right colour.
So some of the way there.
yeh it is pretty funny that its coming out of the wrong end of the saber.

I just don't see it as believable that the rebels would trust a bounty hunter who has just been involved in delivering Han to Jabba the Hutt, and it's clear where his allegiances lie - if you were to argue that a bounty hunter works for whoever pays him the credits, then it would be obvious to the rebels that he'd go back to the Empire (who can pay him more) and double cross them, especially since he's had dealings with them before.
I imagine the rebels would be extremely careful about any bounty hunters they hired. Being a small, vulnerable group, they'd need to be 100% certain where the person's allegiances lay before hiring them.
Bounty Hunters wouldn't have allegiances and he does give them the information they ask for.
I don't remember them doing a character check on Han when he turned up in his tracked ship leading the Death Star straight to their hidden base.
Fett is in it for the money so he could have even helped get Lando into Jabba's palace as a sweetner (which gives the nod he gives Boussh a different meaning too). If you think about it Lando's disguise is bordering on the Clark Kent, especially with Boba Fett wandering around the palace.
By finding and delivering Han to Jabba he's proved himself as capable. When Kenner (or rather Palitoy in the UK) sold the action figure pre-ESB they played on his ambiguity (will he save the galaxy or destroy it....or something like that, Marvel used the same line on Luke).
Being a small vulnerable group I'd imagine the Rebels would take information from wherever than can get it (as long as they can check the accuracy).
They may be a small group compared to the Imperials but they seem large enough to have a few generals who didn't care that much about Han and saw dealing with someone like Fett as a necessary part of their intelligence gathering.
Having Fett in Jedi was a fan service so if he has to be there at least have him in character with what we have already seen of him and leave him as a loose end (everything is too tied up or assumed tied up in a pretty bow by the end of all the official versions).
I understand that he's a gun for hire and has no side, but there are bounty hunters, and there are bounty hunters.
My impression of Fett is that he's known to be an unscrupulous guy, and I can't imagine the rebels trusting him.
What I could imagine is the rebels handing Fett false information regarding their plans, knowing he'd double cross them, thus giving them an advantage in the attack.
Don't know how that would work in an edit though.
I know what you mean but with Fett no longer Jabba's personal bodyguard (taking the Jabba scene out of ANH and having him not bother to attend the Sarlacc party) none of that infamy is on screen (it's just a product of the EU).
So he would seem no more a shady character than any other bounty hunter, sure he could still be famous but on screen he is more of an ambiguous character.

I understand where you're coming from (as well as giving Boba something to actually DO); I'm just saying all you HAVE to do to give Boba some dignity is show him leaving in the distance during the sail barge scene and edit him out of the following scenes. Whether he does any dealings with the rebels or not can go either way, but that in the least would keep him from being Sarlacc chowder.
If one WERE to do the "dealings with the rebels" bit, also remember that you have the Christmas Special dialogue that can be used as well (especially in regards to Boba speaking with Vader).

You mean the animated segment in the Holiday Special? Wasn't that a different voice?
Very different, but I think Monroville was thinking about the Vader half of the conversation (I'm not sure if it's in a usable state though).
If you really want to save Boba Fett, why not just edit him out of Jedi all together? After all, there's no particular reason he has to be there. But if you really want to keep him, just have him in the Palace and then not on the sail barge.
It's not as if every character from the Palace could squeeze onto that sail barge.
This is my in-the-works new matte for Jabba's Palace. It's very similar in composition to my first one, but the actual image is a lot more detailed and higher res. It obviously loses a lot of that when reducing it to a jpeg for photobucket, but you get the gist.
Anyway, as I proceed I've come to a decision I just can't settle on; these are two slightly varied skies that I've done, one keeping elements from the first matte. All constructive opinions more than welcome!
Cheers.

A lot of people do want to remove him altogether. The scenerio I proposed was to keep him in but give him a reason for being there (as you say he has none in any of the current versions, other than to appeal to the inner Ric Olié of fandom and to tick off Lucas' got rid of list).
Love the new mattes.
I wonder what it would be like with a real sky with some slight movement in the clouds?
Well, this is only a compressed mock-up, I keep all the layers seperate so that I can animate them in the edit.
There will be a subtle cloud movement, and there are still other Palace elements to add.
I like the Jabba's Palace pics. Something needs to be done to update it a little. I think Ady will do something like this.
