OK Thanks for the correction. I will remove that entry.

Rumormill of Ridleyville!

Bit busy at the mo so keep em coming and I will update list soon.

Not looking for extended tv cuts of the same film but will allow Godfather as was a special made for TV mini-series.

I will look at Highlander 3 and Deathrace when I get the chance. Duel (Spielberg) does not qualify new shots filmed for incredible hulk TV episode.

Do not be afraid to post any suspicions of deleted scenes in other films or TV shows as long as it is labeled as such. All other entries will be added accordingly.

A possible bit of deleted material from Aliens (James Cameron) ended up in the form of a audio log in Aliens Colonial Marines recorded by Michael biehn it appears at the very start of the game. In the fashion of Sigourney Weavers audio log from the Nostomo at the end of Alien. It sounds like his younger self?

Confirmed new voice work recorded by actor Michael Biehn not salvaged from any old recordings.

2 Deleted shots used in Highlander “the final Dimension” from the Original Highlander final quickening.

Note these 2 short shots are not found in Highlander 3 the sorcerer only in the re-edit.

this is at least the shots that are in my opinion a dead giveaway because of the animation effects style that is clearly apparent from the original film.

There could be a third shot which I am on the fence about the sword being dropped in close up. but it feels like different footage and willing to call it an insert.

Naked Gun 33 1/3 has the deleted wedding scene from Naked Gun 2½.

Not sure if it’s deleted or a straight rip-off but Married… with Children uses clip(s) from the Vacation movie in its title sequence but who knows if it’s the whole sequence or just the one with the car showing.

INFO DUMP

  • The 1980 film Raise The Titanic originally featured an opening sequence depicting the sinking of the Titanic, the sequence would’ve been 12 minutes long. The scene was dropped from the final film and replaced by a photo montage with John Barry’s score over it. The deleted footage resurfaced years later and was used in an episode of the TV show Voyagers (1982-1983), considering the show used the Queen Mary to portray the Titanic its hard to believe they would have the budget to construct a miniature as complex as those seen in Raise The Titanic.

Rough recreation using footage from the Voyagers episode can be found here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=K7PyYj8gLcM

  • Currously, the same episode uses what looks like rear screen projection background plate footage of the bow view of the iceberg from the 1953 Titanic film (I say background plate because the foreground set and actor are not seen in frame). There is also a bit of deleted footage from the 53 film as the underwater shot of the ship’s hull hitting the iceberg is taken from the 53 film but has been extended by several seconds, indicating the shot in the original 53 film was intended to be longer.

  • In the 1979 made for TV move SOS Titanic, the movie uses unused miniature effects shots from A Night To Remember (1958) but colourises all of the footage in order to fit footage shot for the movie. It is clear the footage is alternate takes and not footage ripped from the 58 film because the placement of lifeboat miniatures and amount of steam radiating from the Titanic’s funnels is different between each movie. There was a website I found a few years back detailing the differences in footage between each movie, but I can’t seem to find it anymore.

LexX sorry I have not added the married with children entry but I am not sure I understand completely. Are we talking about scenes possibly deleted from National Lampoons vacation?

Thanks Earl will add in a bit.

Nothing I can steadfastly report on Death race and Death race 2 but I will leave it floating in highly suspicious category. I have both films and studied them I am leaning towards it being no deleted footage used for the actual races but perhaps possibly other generic material footage could have been taken for slow motion intro sequences and alike but I can not confirm on this.

That does seem very possibly that it’s from the first film, but I’d have to watch the footage to better assess.

The early seasons start with showing Chicago highways and you can spot the family wagon there. The scene(s) ARE from Vacation, but I’m not sure if all of them are or if the one where you can see their car is an unused shot from the movie or an actual shot from the movie. You’d need to watch them side by side… But not sure about the other Chicago scenes, there are more highway shots in the show and for example both feature the fountain but is the one from the show actually from the Vacation shoot, not sure…

Yep it could be… But the other 2 shots are 100% so it’s logged. In the original film Highlander we see the sword being dropped from quite a distance.

Also of note is that in the original film we get spammed the same shot 3 times from different angles where Connor raises his arms and yells “argh!” so this footage would possibly fill that section rather than the spamming of the same shot and then later the shot where he is in mid air is an extension by the looks of it. Dropping the sword would be alternative take if it’s from the film.

Ok Lexx well if you are not sure and I don’t have those films to check we will leave that logged in the thread and unconfirmed with a question mark over it.

Just thought it was worth adding That in the Music Video By Queen “Princes of the Universe” around 2.03

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEJ8lpCQbyw

There is some further deleted footage of Conner Mcleods Quickening from the original Highlander Film along with a short shot of a splash for when a neon letter Lands in the Water in the Silvercup Battle. There is possibly a few more in there also I have not checked all the shots. But I will be adding this to the list.

Something I was reluctant to add to this list was the film “Midway” also including deleted scenes from “the Battle of Britain” It is a claim on the website movie mistakes. I can’t confirm this one as I have neither film.

Just added ROTJ lapti-nek music video.

the official music video for Johnny B. Goode and it contains some very interesting deleted shots of Michael J. Fox, most notably an exchange at the end where he appears to coin the term
"rock 'n roll."

A few people have uploaded this video (from the same source), but this one seems to be the earliest upload:
https://youtu.be/nTn3DG3maXE

Any more music videos with deleted scenes in them?

Quick Update.

The last scene of King Conan with Narration from Conan the Destroyer was meant to be the first scene in John Milius Conan the Barbarian.

Presumeably this is due to the Narration of Arnold Schwarzenegger being replaced with Mako and deciding the oriental accent voice over narration did not match the image. Hence the Black Screen with Narration.

The shot times out exactly to the introduction and the introduction is a Dolly in the scene present in Conan the Barbarian of King Conan a Dolly out.

So a Bookend to the Film one in which he has his Sword another for which the sword was absent.

Destroyer = Introduction

Star Trek V has what’s listed in the credits as “stock optical re-composites” by ILM, who did not work on any new FX footage for the film. Not sure if this involves anything shot but not used in the previous films.

Hmmmm. It could be the re-used klingon bird of prey explosion? Sounds like there is something fishy no new special effects either. I don’t have the final frontier to check.

You’re thinking of the Bird of Prey explosion in The Undiscovered Country that was shamelessly recycled in Generations.

ILM was busy on Last Crusade and Ghostbusters 2, so most of the effects in The Final Frontier were done by a smaller company with mixed results.

The only thing I think I can spot so far from screenshots is the shot of the Enterprise A in spacedock from The Voyage Home was recomposited for TFF and the Excelsior in the foreground is gone.

It’s funny how it used to be acceptable to recycle footage and use the same shots again and again. For instance V the tv show and bdttlestar galactica original series. Airwolf another one in fact it used to happen an awful lot 😃

Just thinking was there not some alternative footage used in “the search for spock” at the start that was not at the end of “the Wrath of Khan”?

Well, that copter was expensive to fly. It got even worse with the final shot on the cheap in Canada season. They often matted in a cheap model!

I caught Knight Rider recycling an entire sequence where KITT breaks into a jail to free Michael. 😉

IIRC, Galactica built up a library of shots they could combine in different ways. This did lead to at least one shot of a group of shuttles where two seemingly were going to collide before they cut to another scene.

I think there were different angles on Spock’s coffin, but that may have been new footage. Speaking of Kahn, the starfield from the opening credits is supposed to have been recycled as a rear projection outside a window on the Enterprise in TFF.

I was thinking about the engine room where spock succombs to the radiation poisioning. Been a while since i watched these. Well i have a feeling about search for spock uses some shots from TWOK and i am sure it is something with that engine room scene.

Love the knight rider recycled reference shameless fun I guess.

I ordered a cheap dvd of conan the destroyer off ebay after discovering this. But paypal got hacked and my order vanished. It was only £1.00 though.

Other things i discovered there is a TV version that in the orgy scene uses a unique shot showing Conan and Subotai from the side before they tip the cauldron down the stairs. Also seems like a couple of extra shots of JEJ too. This to me confirms Milius and the studio have all the outs and trims.

Also the czech dub features a piece of music never released it is a choir piece for when James Earl Jones explains his take on the riddle of steel. This music is lost at the moment.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dx62qCH_WI4

also of note the German version features an extra snippet of audio dialogue “don’t worry, I won’t hurt you” when pit fighter Conan is bred to the finest stock of women. Not relevant to this thread but it is extra discoveries I found out about.

There is also a scene from Spider Man 2 (the establishing shot outside of the “The Importance Of Being Ernest” auditorium) that was recycled for a handful of “How I Met Your Mother” episodes. Most of the time, the poster of Kirsten Dunst was blurred out a bit. However, in one episode, her face is clearly visible.
