does anyone know why the rebels have guns on the falcon? was there supposed to be some boarding action?

Am I the only one who thought the English Sullustan (Nien Nunb Race) was adorable. If somebody stuck him in their edit, they should keep him just like that.

On another note, Crix Madine sounded different in the deleted scene. He spoke more American in the film, and then he had an English accent in the deleted scene.

Was he overdubbed, or did he just play it different for the rebel briefing scene?

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Loved Han's urgency in the Bunker raid.

EDIT: The Falcon crew is pretty damn flawless in terms of quality.  Beautifully preserved, and so neat seeing those firing chambers again!
His urgency? "MOVE MOVE MOVE! CHEWIE!" What was the plan for Chewie to want to run off like an excited puppy down the wrong corridors, for Han to have to yell at him like that?

And its incredible they built ALL of these sets and didn't use a frame of them.

Yes, his urgency.  He sounded very frantic to my ears.

you know, if someone (thinking angel) posted a step-by-step tutorial of how to recolour just one frame of b+w film in photoshop, using specific numbered colours, or a swatch. 20 or so of us could easily munch through some of that footage.

It was shot in London so just about all of the extras and side characters were played by English actors. All of the Rebels were dubbed by Americans while the Empire got to keep their real voices. =P

Some of the monochrome unused pilot reactions could have the sound sampled to use as background chatter like in ANH.

That would mask some of the poor audio quality.

What... what are those "Lost Rebels" on the Falcon doing? Clearly there was supposed to be something with the Falcon getting obviously damaged and repaired, but what's with the guys that look ready to repel a boarding party?

Didn't notice that part. It would be interested if the Falcon was boarded. I've always wondered how that would look, as it was mentioned as something Vader wanted to do in ESB. In any case, there are probably enough Rebels onboard the Falcons that they can spare some to be ready if the Empire does indeed try to board it.

it is strange. i was wondering if the falcon was supposed to go to endor perhaps? would explain the cheap over use of the shuttle prop later on.

just imagine what ady can do with these with some extra space battle footage? although i imagine by then the second unit will be filming other stuff!

Some of it seems to be people making spot repairs (possibly after the communication disc gets hit).

Those big guns could be replaced with fire fighting equipment, with a bit of screen wobble they could be very useable.

I proposed the idea of fire consuming the Falcon in the Wishlist and Save Lando threads which could give Calrissian a reason for self sacrifice.

If you factor in Jejerrod's idea of flooding some of the pipes (with radiation, fire, fuel etc) it could lead to interesting new possibilities.

Ah, the one scene from the Prequels that I've been waiting an eternity for.... and I can't f***ing use it because of it's in utter crap quality.... go to hell, Lucas, just go to hell and take your BD set with you. :/

well the only thing I could see being a problem is the crappy chroma keying, the "cutouts" shots could be cropped/zoomed.

20th Century Fox just removed some OT Deleted Scenes from both nooogeorge's account and my own. I wonder if they're realizing that they're the main drive of the Blu-Ray set... or perhaps they fear people using it in edits without getting the set.

I'd say it's just a standard procedure regarding copyright and wouldn't read too much into it. I'm glad I've downloaded them all while they were still up :-)

The same thing happened when the saber build scene first leaked but as soon as it was taken down it went back up again.

I'd imagine they will go up and down until people get bored with them (Michael Scott quote in 5...4...3...2...1).

Anyway, it doesn't really matter to me if the deleted scenes were taken down or not. I already got them on my computer and on a DVD, as I said before.

does anyone know what that metal bar that yoda holds is supposed to be? is he holding a lightsaber by its blade?

Author

Pretty sure it's meant to be a metal bar. Luke's suppose to chop the thing in half. He stacks rocks, he slices bars, he deflects fake lasers and he duels visions. Pretty simple training materials.

Sometimes a bar is just a bar.

If you look back to the Marvel adaptation Luke is meant to cut it into seven pieces before it hits the ground.

I think he only manages to cut it into four before he leaves and he misses on his first try grapple fans.
